Sonic 2020 PS4 PlayStation 4

Here's something that you'll probably either love or hate -- SEGA has launched a new campaign in which it will share Sonic the Hedgehog news on the 20th day of every month this year. Aptly named 'Sonic 2020', the publisher will be making Sonic-related announcements each month, starting with the reveal of the initiative itself.

It's not made clear what any of this news will be, exactly. We wouldn't expect news on upcoming games every single month; instead, there's likely to be talk of the comics, merchandise, and of course, the much talked about movie. However, we're fairly sure SEGA will use this format to announce a new interactive adventure for its mascot. The company does say it will be holding various Sonic-related events throughout the year, and it sounds as though the character's 30th anniversary in 2021 will be a big deal.

To celebrate the launch of the Sonic 2020 campaign, SEGA has released PC and mobile wallpapers as well as a series of character icons for use on social media.

What do you think of this Sonic 2020 initiative? Are you excited to see what hedgehog-related announcements SEGA has up its sleeve? Will a new game be revealed? Rush into the comments below and tell us your thoughts.
