In its first three months on sale in the United States, Marvel’s Spider-Man has become the fastest-selling superhero game ever. This means that it has outpaced juggernauts like Batman: Arkham Knight, and even more impressive is that the statistic does not include bundle sales. Considering that the PlayStation 4 exclusive was a part of Sony’s big Black Friday 2018 offer, it’s safe to conclude that the numbers are even higher.
To be fair, the title’s been an all-round slam-dunk for Insomniac Games, receiving rave reviews. The final DLC pack, which centres on Silver Sable, is out this week, while a recent update for the title added the oft-requested Sam Raimi suit to the title for free.

So happy for Spidey, Insomniac and Sony.
Now I need to play the dlcs.
Congratulations to Insomniac and Sony, as well as Marvel. Makes me wonder if Spider-Man PS4 will be usurped of that title by the upcoming, multi-platform Avengers game.
And some thought it wouldn't sell as well as Activision's games cos it was exclusive.
@Turismo4GT Is that Avengers game still a thing? I honestly thought it was Switch exclusive UA3.
Good for Spiderman, but it's kind of faint praise no? Like the best video game movie. I know Batman sold well but did it sell that well?
I do think Spidey will keep selling. Complete Edition is practically a given. And I'm expecting a 4k PS5 launch title, even if PS5 is backwards compatible. Maybe with puddles. 😁
@Turismo4GT I'm sure Square Enix will f*ck it up somehow.
Fantastic game without over staying its welcome unlike a bunch of other openworld games. Crazily I think it's the best AAA superhero game but Arkham VR if extended to a full phat release would be better still. But that as an hours experience is insane!!!
If anyone's on the fence about Spiderman it's great. Don't listen to the haters even the stealth sections and puzzles are great, just little breaks away from the swinging maelstrom. It's easily the most single player fun I have had this year.
@Enuo $5.00 to buy a gem-encrusted skin for Thor's in-game Mjolnir, perhaps?
...oh wait, you said Square Enix, not EA. My bad.
@AdamNovice Some people were also "concerned" that the game wouldn't sell well because games like Tomb Raider coming soon.
Well...
Congrats to Insomniac on their success of a great game.
On a side note, I love the header image you guys used. I saw it on Twitter earlier. With the lighting and the Raimi suit, it looks like it jumped right out of the movie, and I love it.
@Turismo4GT That won’t be out for quite a while, non of us know or seen anything about it yet.
@themcnoisy 100% agree I loved this game from start to finish and as someone who's a big Batman fan in films and comics, I much preferred this game over Arkham Knight. The open world doesn't get in the way and actually becomes a playground for the excellent swinging, the stealth sections are actually quite good and QTE's are used sparingly and effectively, it's almost like it was designed to be a game first and foremost unlike some I've played recently
Will get back to it once I get my PS4 Pro. Sony handle Spidy the best.
@Deadlyblack You want to see what some of the people on twitter have done with photo mode on twitter, it's insane.
That's fantastic news, the game is phenomenal! As a huge fan of the Arkham series I do prefer the slightly darker tone of the Batman games but I've honestly been enjoying the swinging gameplay and combat of Spider-Man more! Preordered the Digital Deluxe version and was having such an amazing time but I decided to put it aside until all DLC chapters released, so I'm gonna jump back in over the holidays! But I need more, bigger and wetter puddles!! 😂
Congrats Spidey, well deserved news indeed!
@Turismo4GT Dont forget Square Enix sold important/key story content separate for FF15.
