The Occupation is an extremely promising adventure from White Paper Games, the creators of Ether One. For those out of the loop, you play as a journalist in 1980s England as you look into a terrorist attack and subsequent legislation that threatens to rob people of their civil rights. The main hook here is that the game takes place over four hours, and they play out in real time, meaning you literally have four hours before the game reaches its conclusion.

It's a fascinating premise, and the idea that your actions directly influence the story and the characters within it is very enticing. The subject matter is interesting, too: games rarely deal with such straight-faced themes, but we love the topical, political nature of The Occupation. We're very much looking forward to getting our hands on it (again), and the good news is it's coming to PS4 on 9th October 2018.

It'll launch digitally on the PlayStation Store, but a physical edition is also planned through a partnership with Sold Out. “Partnering with Sold Out has been a huge opportunity for us to let even more players around the world experience our work,” said Pete Bottomley, Co-Founder and Designer at White Paper Games. “It’s been a long journey and we’re proud of what we’ve achieved considering we’re still a small team. We can’t wait to see how people resonate with The Occupation and we’re even more excited now that we have a release date!”
