Another week draws to a close, which means that we're now days away from seeing what Sony's got in store at next week's PlayStation Meeting press conference. And of course, the PlayStation 4 Slim has continued to dominate the headlines over the past few days, as the console has continued to filter out into the public. The platform holder's been doing its best to clamp down on the systems, but some stores in the UK are even showing them in stock right now. Not the flawless release strategy that the Japanese giant had planned.

The King of Fighters XIV - 7/10
Ironically, the biggest sticking point with King of Fighters XIV is the one aspect designed to make it more appealing to outsiders; the new "Rush" mode allows even complete newbies to look like combo-crunching experts, but it's likely to divide opinion with serious players who prefer to rely on their own skill and knowledge when it comes to unlocking the game's most potent moves. Even so, this single concession to a mainstream audience is easy to forgive when taken as part of a package which rewards methodical, technical play in a way that no other fighting game does.
Inside - 10/10
As far as puzzle platformers go, Inside is the new benchmark. This is a game that manages to spin a compelling yarn without uttering a single word, and one that is designed so meticulously that the puzzles it contains never once become rote or frustrating. It's beautiful to look at, and the minimalist sound design complements the almost greyscale aesthetic perfectly. But beyond the technical proficiency on display, the true genius of Inside is in the feeling that it left us with once it was all over. This is a game that will probably stay in your thoughts for days once you've finished it.

One UK Retailer Will Happily Sell You a PS4 Slim Today
This is so bizarre: the PlayStation 4 Slim isn't even announced yet, but there are four available from the CEX in Widnes right now. Somehow, the unannounced console has filtered into the retail channel in the UK, with the leaks seemingly centred in the North Western part of the country. So, if you fancy one of the new systems right now, you may want to head to Cheshire before Sony beats you there.
PlayStation Plus Price Increase Confirmed for US and Canada
Sony has announced that the price of a one year subscription to PlayStation Plus will be raised to $59.99 USD / $69.99 CAD in North America and Canada respectively on the 22nd September.

Both Sony and MS's slim consoles seem like quite cynical tricks, to be honest. Less informed people will buy them without being aware of the much more powerful upgrades coming along afterwards. Some people may have vaguely heard about new versions coming out and be waiting for that before they jump on board this gen - but they assume the slims are the upgrade they'd heard of, the final version of each console.
@Matroska Microsoft announced the Scorpio at the exact same time; Sony will announce the Neo at the exact same time. People who aren't paying attention enough to know the minor details aren't the target audience for more powerful machines.
The PC version of PS now seems like a great idea, BUT, £12:99 is just far too much when you're already paying for PS+. Why don't they let you have a discounted yearly sub or even better would be to do a PS+ and PS now package.
PS4 slim seems like utter madness with a 500gb HDD. As it stands I can have no more than 4-5 games on my current 500gb PS4. I would rather spend the money on upgrading the HDD on my current machine.
The PlayStation Now game platform for PC is truly great, as it opens the world of great games to everyone: http://playstationnow.zohosites.com/
