If you're planning to pull for new characters and Light Cones in Banners, then you're going to need a hearty helping of Star Rail Passes and Star Rail Special Passes. While you will earn a handful of free characters from fulfilling select in-game conditions, the majority of your unlocks will come from the game's gacha system, which is where this all-important currency factors in. On this page, we're going to explain how to get Star Rail Passes and Star Rail Special Passes.

Purchase Passes with Stellar Jade

The most common way to obtain both Star Rail Passes and Star Rail Special Passes is to purchase them with Stellar Jade. A single pass costs 160 Stellar Jade, meaning you'll need 1,600 Stellar Jade for 10 pulls in a Banner. You can find out How to Get Stellar Jade through the link. You can also convert Oneiric Shards into Stellar Jade using real money. In addition, it's worth noting you can exchange Undying Starlight and Undying Embers to purchase Star Rail Passes and Star Rail Special Passes, and you earn both currencies by Warping, or making pulls on Banners.

Completing Quests

Pay attention to the rewards for some quests, as there are some which will reward you with Star Rail Passes and Star Rail Special Passes. While you're unlikely to get more than one for your efforts here, you should always use your free passes to supplement those you purchase with Stellar Jade, allowing you to lower the overall cost of your Warps.

Pay Attention to Events

Events are scheduled in-game activities which reward you for fulfilling certain conditions, such as simply logging in or engaging with web-based minigames. While these are tied to a real-life timetable and thus are constantly changing, many of them offer Star Rail Passes and Star Rail Special Passes as rewards. Thus, these can represent an easy means of expanding your inventory of this all-important currency.

Fulfil Your Nameless Honor

Nameless Honor is Honkai: Star Rail's alternative to a Battle Pass, which includes a series of Daily, Weekly, and Periodic tasks for you to complete in return for progression. As you advance to different tiers of the Battle Pass, you'll unlock rewards, which include Star Rail Passes and Star Rail Special Passes. You can get even more unlocks if you pay for the premium track.

Tackle the Simulated Universe

The Simulated Universe is effectively a separate roguelite-style game mode within Honkai: Star Rail, which has an independent points system and reward track. As you complete worlds and earn points, you'll earn Herta Bonds, which can be spent in an Exchange Shop on various rewards, including Star Rail Passes and more.

Ascend Your Squad

Ascending your unlocked characters in Honkai: Star Rail will reward you with Star Rail Passes once you reach certain milestones. Thus, if you're in need of a quick injection of tickets, one option can be to level up some of your lesser used characters.

What's the Difference Between Star Rail Passes and Star Rail Special Passes in Honkai: Star Rail?

As the names no doubt suggest, there's very little different between Star Rail Passes and Star Rail Special Passes. At 160 Stellar Jade each, they're both valued the same, and you're likely to amass both types concurrently through Events and gameplay. The biggest difference between the two is that Star Rail Passes can only be used on permanent Banners, like the Departure Warp and Stellar Warp, while Star Rail Special Passes are reserved for limited time Banners.

We'd recommend only spending Stellar Jade on Star Rail Special Passes, as you'll want to use these to pull for the limited time characters that you want. Because Star Rail Passes can be used on permanent Banners that never go away, it's easier to stockpile the free ones you earn and pull these when you've amassed enough.
