30. Chivalry 2 (PS5)

A competitive multiplayer game unlike any other, Chivalry 2 is a bit like Battlefield but with medieval weapons. This game doesn't take itself seriously at all, but its crunchy combat is a blast with friends or strangers alike.

29. Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Siege (PS5)

Delivering a final verdict for Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Siege is complicated. Purely on the title’s merits, it's a PS5 upgrade that is unquestionably an improvement and comes highly recommended. But on the other hand, even with all the new bells and whistles courtesy of the PS5, the title is a horrifying cesspool of cheating and toxicity of which very little has been done to stem the tide.

28. Dead Island 2 (PS5)

It took nearly 10 years to materialise, but against all odds, Dead Island 2 is a great zombie-slaying adventure. Set in Los Angeles, you work your way through various open levels as you fend off the undead with a wide variety of weapons and abilities. The story isn't anything too special, but the game makes up for it with gloriously gory action and a rounded, well-realised setting. If you just want to smash open some zombie skulls, look no further.

27. The Forgotten City (PS5)

For fans of storytelling, The Forgotten City is a solid recommendation. Freed from the shackles of Skyrim, the full game tells a captivating story elevated by clever and humorous writing. With the interesting time loop mechanic creating further situations full of comedy and intrigue, settling down across a few evenings with The Forgotten City will delight. We just wish the combat was either improved or not there at all, and the technical setbacks weren't quite so rampant.

26. Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown (PS5)

Ubisoft proves with Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown that it’s arguably at its best when it’s scaling down the size of its games and creating something outside of its open world wheelhouse. Metroidvanias may be ten a penny on PS5, but this well-executed adventure is bursting with exploration and equipped with some of the most satisfying side-scrolling combat you’ll find on Sony’s current-gen system.

25. Cult of the Lamb (PS5)

Cult of the Lamb is an ingenious blend of rogue-lite action and life sim that's devilishly addictive. Indebted to an imprisoned, malevolent god, you spend half the game vanquishing foes, gathering resources, and rescuing animals. Then, things flip, and your time turns to building up a cult with various buildings and structures. There's an element of strategy to this half of the game, but it's generally pretty breezy, while the action is nice and snappy. Both sides of Cult of the Lamb feed wonderfully into each other, and combined with the cute cartoon visuals, it's an incredibly fun, dangerously moreish treat.

24. Granblue Fantasy: Relink (PS5)

Granblue Fantasy: Relink is a fairly straightforward, but really well executed action RPG. There's a lot to like about its hectic combat system, and it's got some outstanding boss battles. Its mission-based structure may not be to everyone's tastes, but if you can settle into the grind, powering up your favourite characters is super addictive. Besides, it's just nice to have a campaign that's all killer, no filler across its 20-hour runtime — a rarity among its RPG peers!

23. DOOM Eternal (PS5)

If you like your first-person shooters fast, demanding, and bloody, DOOM Eternal is the peak. A fantastic gameplay loop means you're constantly on the move and playing aggressively, earning more ammo and health by getting right up in those demonic faces and literally ripping them a new one. On PS5, it's somehow even better, with three visual modes — including one with ray tracing — and DualSense support. A brilliant FPS that really sings on Sony's current hardware.

22. Control: Ultimate Edition (PS5)

Control pushed the limits of the PS4, delivering an intense third-person romp — but a technically flawed one. This return trip to the unorthodox Old House feels much more at home on the PS5, however, and while there are some strange difficulty spikes, Remedy’s unique brand of shooting shines throughout much of this engrossing outing. The oppressive setting, unnerving enemies, and wonderfully eerie atmosphere really come to life on Sony's current-gen machine, offering much improved visuals and performance.

21. Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy (PS5)

A superhero game from Square Enix is enough for hardcore PlayStation players to proceed with caution after Marvel's Avengers, but developer Eidos Montreal has done Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy proud with a faithful, funny, and thoroughly enjoyable campaign based on original storytelling. It's a meaty one too, lasting north of 20 hours. The characters of Drax, Groot, Rocket, and Gamora are just as you remember them from the Marvel movies, and even Star-Lord performs valiantly despite the lack of a Chris Pratt face scan. Combat is deep and engaging, exploration is limited but fun, and dialogue is top-notch.
