The second expansion for DOOM 3, this one being much more recent and exclusive to the BFG Edition. Unlike Resurrection of Evil, though, which felt like a proper expansion with interesting new bosses, new weapons, etc. this one is literally just nine more levels of DOOM 3. There's some thin plot about needing to infiltrate hell to stop a transporter that can allow demons to invade Earth or something, but it just feels like a handful of levels that didn't make the cut for RoE. This expansion includes the grabber gun and super shotgun, although you only need to use the former once.
Lazy expansion (there's not even proper bosses!), but the moment-to-moment of DOOM 3 is decent (when audio logs and NPC dialogue aren't droning on for way too long, anyway), so I don't mind too much.
@RogerRoger S'alright, nothing wrong with being glad to find your perceptions mirrored by others. It's... yeah, it's really disappointing compared to RoE or something like DOOM 64's new campaign. Very half-assed.
I am kind of glad I put some time in-between RoE and TLM, though, because, in the absence of any differences, it would have absolutely felt like a chore. As it stands, I mostly just enjoyed one last return to DOOM 3's take on demon killing mindlessness, even if there was really nothing there to merit its inclusion as a separate DLC campaign.
ON TO DOOM 2016!... I'd say, but I'm going to take a month-long breather, I think.
@Ralizah I might just join you on Doom 2016 whenever you get to it. I picked it up on the cheap during the last sale as we had it on the list as a potential Game Club game and I have really been meaning to play it as a frequently praised example of a solid single player FPS on the PS4. There were a handful of users who have it in their backlog as well.
It would be fun to compare notes, although you’re coming from a completely different angle from me, having played all the other games leading up to it. Whereas 2016 will be my first Doom game.
@Th3solution I never did finish DOOM when I played it, that’s a good one for Game Club. Also considering that I think this week’s game has been a bit of a bust. Would @Ralizah be up for DOOM 2016 in a couple of weeks?
@Ralizah Infamous First Light but I’m not sure many people were into that one. A big game like DOOM would renew interest in time for Halloween where the plan was to do Resi 2, which will take a couple weeks.
@nessisonett Sounds good to me. I’ll probably be ready in a couple weeks. Might have finished GoT by then. And even if not, I think Doom is a fairly short game and a nice diversion from my usual fare. Maybe @RogerRoger will want to join, as well as others who like the series or are curious about it.

Ok wow, just beat Cuphead. Feel like I stumbled into a win there but hey, I’m not complaining! Overall I really enjoyed my time with it, some pretty difficult bosses of course but I could do without the run and gun sections. Just chuffed I made it in one piece!
I've beaten Yuppie Psycho on PC. The game was great overall, and I really enjoyed my time with it.
The game involves ordinary guy Brian Pasternack heading to the office for his first day of work. There he will do the usual activities such as meeting his co-workers, brewing some coffee, and logging in to the corporate network. However, not everything is as it seems. There's something sinister going on, so expect some survival horror elements.
The atmosphere is well done in this game. It does a good job of mixing up the calmer office moments, and the more tense scary moments. Co-workers are bursting with personality, and important characters all have their own unique characteristics. There's plenty of amusing moments between them when things aren't getting too serious. The soundtrack is very good as well, and it uses a charming pixel art for the visuals.
So overall, this game blew me away. I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was.
Brought Jedi: Fallen Order on Friday and beat it last night. Not a bad game, although there was the odd graphical glitch, and the framerate was all over the shop, even with the 1080p resolution lock. Story was very telegraphed, not very difficult to figure out what is going on, but the gameplay overall feels satisfying. I would probably play a sequel if it ever came about (though I don't think it will), as some of the characters introduced in the game felt really underutilised, and I would like to see more of.
Polished off the rest of the characters in Tekken 4 today. Yes, I played it for hours. It’s an OK game and the cutscenes are definitely a step up but otherwise it felt a bit smaller in scope than the previous 2 games. Tekken 3 had the superior gameplay and element of freshness, Tag Tournament had an absurd amount of characters and new style of play. This game just had better presentation. There’s also a move towards juggling mechanics, which I’m not overly fond of. It’s not fun being pinned in a corner and bashed against a wall repeatedly until you die either. It was a decent game but I would return to Tekken 3 for multiplayer over it any day.
@RogerRoger I’m going ahead with Tekken 5, I might as well at this point. It’s less that the franchise feels stale and more that Tekken 4 itself felt like they sacrificed a lot in the console jump. It happens often, devs don’t really know how to utilise the new hardware and their games end up quite unambitious.
I've been flying through my backlog in preparation of the PS5 and/or a ton of games coming out of the tail end of the year that I've been looking forward to. So the past few weeks I finished Assassin's Creed Odyssey, The Outer Worlds, and Persona 5 Royal.
Odyssey was fun for a while, but overstayed its welcome, it was pretty bloated; but I left with a positive impression of it. The Outer Worlds was fine, but for an ARPG, the action felt like an afterthought to the story and dialogue. Persona 5 Royal... might just be the best RPG I've ever played.
I finished the main story of Watch Dogs 2 and it was really quite brilliant. It never failed to keep me entertained. Yes, it’s maybe not the most inventive or creative of games but the hacking system was absolutely dead on and the story was extremely fun. I just need to finish off the trophies for the platinum but it shouldn’t take me too long! I’m seriously looking forward to Legion now, more than I ever was before I played this game. I only gave it a go because it was on PS Now as well!
@nessisonett As it leaves PS NOW at the end of the month, that might have be my next game, but that would also mean I've played three open world games really close to each other which I don't normally like doing. I do have it on disc, but my ps4 is a bit temperamental when it comes to discs, so I could always play it when I get a PS5. 🤔
Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.
So I beat chapter five last night (I'd saved just before the trial) ... And well... I found myself still playing... And I ended beating Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair just before midnight 😅
It's quite easily surpassed my expectations for a sequel and then some!

Well Chiaki seemed like a perfect fit for me @crimsontadpoles 😂 Though I'm not an AI living in a virtual world... I hope!
I'll be sure to drop some more detailed thoughts in the Danganronpa thread about the story and characters soon.
I think I'll even go for the platinum for 1.2 reload. I don't really do trophies all that much but I've enjoyed the duo quite a bit. It doesn't seem hard to get either just a bit long!
That’s me finished off the last story mode character in Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection on PSP. I have mixed feelings with this one, it’s the hardest one since probably Tekken 2, mostly due to brutal AI even on easy. The boss character is one of those dudes that borders on unfair. I mean, a massive fireball attack in a 3D fighter that does 70% of your health? The extra characters are good and by all accounts the gameplay is improved from the PS2 original so honestly it’s a good package and the PSP version looks really nice. The gameplay is mostly solid although the juggle mechanics are getting slightly out of hand now. Only a couple of games left! I do own Tekken 6 on PSP so I’ll miss out on the weird campaign from the PS3 version but apparently that’s terrible anyway.
