@Th3solution The atmosphere and anticipation in the queue for the midnight premiere of "The Phantom Menace" in July of 1999 was the best of times - the worst of times followed very shortly thereafter.

@Th3solution hey, PS2 and FF9 were right around the corner.

I played the first level on Chronicles (I think it would qualify as a level, I got to a cut scene at any rate - and no, I don’t mean the intro sequence!!), it confused the hell out of me at one point since apparently you can just push closed doors open without levers now but as for the controls they are really not too bad!

It’s an incredible system. Probably my favourite handheld ever. The library is insane.

My top 5:
Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth
Freedom Wars
Persona 3 Portable
Uncharted Golden Abyss
Severed

Lives, Lived, Will Live.
Dies, Died, Will Die.

@Fight_Teza_Fight It’s a shame some of the Vita exclusives are trapped there, but perhaps one day we’ll get a Golden Abyss console port. There’s all those Vita-specific interactive elements like touch controls, but they’ve modified such features out for games like Tearaway and Gravity Rush. A game like Severed couldn’t be ported effectively since the touch screen slashing combat is essentially the whole point of the game, but most of these other screen inputs can be modded out.

I never got around to playing Freedom Wars. Maybe one day.

@kyleforrester87 As frustrating as Chronicles can be, its controls are the ultimate refinement of that classic, grid-based gameplay style, and so I'd definitely call it the most playable of the PSone games. Did you run through the backstage area's skippable tutorial, or crack straight on?

Tons of great games on this system but I'd say my favorites are Gravity Rush, Uncharted: Golden Abyss, LittleBigPlanet PS Vita and Killzone Mercenary. Replayed those many times. There's also some great ports like Muramasa Rebirth, Mortal Kombat, the Ninja Gaiden Sigmas, Dead or Alive 5+ and shockingly good portable effort of Virtua Tennis 4.

Been playing a lot of Monster Hunter Freedom Unite on my Vita recently. Plays really great, better graphics, fast loading and you can map the camera to the right stick.

As for all-time favourites on Vita my top 3 would probably be...

Persona 4 Golden
Soul Sacrifice Delta
Little Big Planet

Kanji-Tatsumi

@Th3solution Golden Abyss is really gimmicky, so I’m not sure how well it would hold up, but it’s a really fun game.
Severed is excellent. Clearly made on a budget, but it’s so much fun getting the platinum.

Freedom Wars is so good. That’s an easy recommendation. MH World is the best, but Freedom Wars is a close second.

@Fight_Teza_Fight I’ll keep Freedom Wars in mind. The long playtime sorta scared me away, and then they shut the servers down last year, but I guess it should be perfectly playable without the online multiplayer?

@RogerRoger All those years playing Tomb Raider in the 90's has put me in a pretty good position and I got back into the control system relatively quickly, you sort of have to steer Lara round like a heavy motorbike! I did do the training area, although by accident as I thought that was the main route. Having said that it was a useful reminder of certain mechanics so glad I did.

I have just finished the streets of Rome area, just jumped to a new location. Not really sure why tbh!

Cant remember too much of the game, I know I got past Ireland at least when it released which I think is not far off the end.

@kyleforrester87 I know what you mean! That same kinda muscle memory is how I've been able to enjoy and quickly platinum the classic Syphon Filter games recently. It's like riding a bike... or indeed, as you say, a heavy motorbike! Also, I know exactly where you are. That sudden location change is very jarring! Be interesting to see how you fare beyond Ireland as you're right, you'll be close to the endgame. Best of luck!

Man it's been a while since I played on my Vita. I think the last game I played was Persona 3 Portable, which I didn't like that much unfortunately. But before that was Steins;Gate 0 through PS4 Remote Play, which I loved. Such great visual novels, the first Steins;Gate is definitely my favourite visual novel of all time.

Still got a fairly large backlog on Vita. Need to play titles like Final Fantasy 8, GTA: Liberty City Stories, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, Silent Hill, Soul Sacrifice Delta, Suikoden, Tales of Hearts R and Wild Arms to name a couple.

I should also utilise PS4 Remote Play more. I'm playing Resident Evil 5 on PS4 now though, which probably wouldn't work that well on Vita.

Anyway, I could still see myself playing on Vita for a long time to come!

Killzone I played this 3 times to completion,
Loved it every time. We need more killzone, we deserve more killzone, we demand more killzone. Just bring it to PS Plus.
