Yeah ITV is generally crap. Makes you relish the games that are on BBC, especially when it's Mark Lawrenson.

Some people hate him, and I can see why, but I think he's bloody hilarious in his utter lack of enthusiasm.

I think Lawro is a genius, especially when with Alan Green on 5Live. The pair of them are what you want, honest. Same with Hansen, was a joy watching him rip into England while Thierry Henry just sat there looking stunned. Also love how Lawro looks like he's melting.

How good are Iran playing? Making the Argies look what they are, average and reliant on Messi who - once again - hasn't turned up. Hope they get the winner the Iranians, would be the defining moment of this World Cup. Neil Lennon is squealing like a girl who's seen a pony on 5Live  every time Iran go near :')

EDIT: Then Messi goes and does that. Swine! Wonderful shot. He doesn't look fit or even interested though. Better teams than Iran will annihilate Argentina.

Messi the heart breaker.

Germany vs Ghana should be good. I think if Germany wreck Ghana - we're talking 3-0, 4-0, that kind of thing - Germany can go on and win it. If they dominate, they're the team to fear I reckon.

If they get Ozil out the first XI they'll beat anyone. He's just lost the plot completely and has lost everything that four years ago made him seem like the only one player who could potentially get close to Messi and Ronaldo.

@Above As you said... Germany will likely dominate. Such an efficient team

Costa Rica were superb. Italy looked like they were running through treacle for 90mins. I thought they'd come out in the second half and play better, but they were just as bad.

One thing I've noticed, don't know if it's the heat or what, but these teams that are winning are the teams that chase down the ball fast and play one touch passing. Italy today = slow. England in both games = mostly slow. Never closing anyone down. Even Spain were passing so slowly.

Then look at the good performances we've seen. Netherlands against Spain; fast, decisive football and they closed Spain down with two or three men at all times. Germany against Portugal, same thing. Argentina in the last 20 mins: incredibly fast football. It's the winning formula in this tournament.

And I agree about Balotelli. He isn't reliable, too temperamental. Should have been subbed for Immobile maybe. Poor performance all around, though.

LOL like blitzkrieg

Ghana played great, amazing pace, but Germany were deadly as always. Good second half.

What a player Miroslav Klose is. Can't even give him an inch of space in the box. Hope he gets another goal (at least) so the record is broken. He deserves it.

"Roll your sleeves up and give it a good go" should be the motto of World Cup 2014. Can not express how much I am loving this tournament. Only two games (Iran v Nigeria and Belgium v Russia today) have been poor.

Can't believe how every World Cup programme ends with the pundits discussing England.

At this point I couldn't possibly give less of a damn, let's start concentrating on the teams who are actually still in it, please.

NOOOOOO!!!! US is denied for now at least.  Still This next game against Germany has me very nervous.  I honestly can't see the US winning it so hopefully they will tie.

Cometh the hour, disappearth Ronaldo. A little cruel maybe, considering his wonderful cross, but two games in to this World Cup and that's it. A cross. People bang on about him being better than Messi but the simple truth is he isn't. All well and good scoring twenty-seven in a game against some team who bounce in and out of La Liga every other season, when the going gets tough, more often that not Ronaldo is nowhere to be seen. The way he sulked off the pitch the second the final whistle was blown too was infuriating. Portugal coach should've grabbed him by the ear and dragged him back on to congratulate the opposition with the rest of the team. Maybe the embarrassment might have helped him get his head out of his arse. There's lot of players I don't like because of their attitude and how they/the media consider them (may have noticed potato head Rooney is one) but there is only one player I wish would get snapped in two, and that is this berk.

The thing is, Klinsmann is USA's manager. He used to manage his native Germany along with Germany's current manager, Low.

If their match is a draw, both teams will have 5 points each, which is enough to take them both through into the last 16. It kinda seems too perfect, although a draw would mean that USA would come second in the group while Germany comes first.

Going to be a very interesting game. Think the two Germans would agree to a draw and knock Portugal and Ghana out?

They might do that but then again they can try to use it to one up each other.  Still as you said I expect this to be a very good game and hopefully I will be able to watch it.

I'll eat my hat if Germany USA isn't fairly placid and end a draw. I don't own any hats anyway. Chile Holland should be pretty amazing.

One of the most boring games I've ever seen. Only Chile wanted to win it while Holland, for some reason, decided to play like Chelsea. Great header by Fer though.

They would have wanted to avoid Brazil. Mexico is a much easier game. A cushion would have been nicer, Chile will be full of regret but Brazil haven't been great with the obvious exception.

I'm more scared of Mexico than brazil...

Italy and Uruguay should be a cracker today. Excited to see if Italy's defence can handle Suarez...
