@JohnnyShoulder That does look rather nice - I'm trying really hard to save money by not double dipping on 4K's I already have on blu-ray, though. I'd probably have gone for it if the long rumoured "Donner Cut" style restoration of "Superman IV" had been included.
@LN78 Yeah I only buy films on 4k Blu Ray which I have fond memories of or don't have already. Some like Universal Soldier I wasn't a massive fan of back in the day, but ended enjoying it more so when I watched it when I got the 4K disc.
I've only got Man of Steel which was free with my ps4, so this is a potential purchase for me at some point.
Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.
@JohnnyShoulder I got my first ever blu-ray - "Casino Royale" - free with my PS3. I've also decided (in the aftermath of the disappointment of "Wakanda Forever") to stop buying new movies on 4K that I haven't seen yet. There have been a few recently that are unlikely to ever get watched again.
@Zuljaras Thanks for posting that Tetris trailer! I've always been interested in the game's backstory and reckon there's some real potential for a great movie in there!
"We want different things, Crosshair. That doesn't mean that we have to be enemies."
Finished watching Wonder Woman the other day and Justice League today.
Wonder Woman was fantastic! Really enjoyed her backstory and her connection to Greek mythology. The plot reminded me a lot of the first Captain America movie. I think it's very interesting to see a superhero battle in a historical war. The scene where she runs through the battlefield was just pure awesome. Also, her theme is absolutely badass!
Justice League was even better. After watching this movie, I find the Justice League to be much, much cooler than the Avengers. DC characters are in general more badass, serious and brutal than Marvel characters. I mean, there's no one cooler than Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman etc. Even Cyborg is much cooler than Iron Man (if you want to make that comparison). The only character I didn't like was The Flash because he wasn't played by Grant Gustin from the TV show. The suit in the movie was definitely cooler than the show's, but I just can't see anyone else other than Grant as Barry Allen.
That's how I feel about the DCEU in general. It would've been so much better if all movies and shows took place in the same universe so that we would have the same actors. I mean, we already have the established Arrowverse but that's pretty much over now. Hopefully with the announcement of the DCU, DC media will be more consistent from now on.
@LtSarge Am real pleased to see you enjoy the DC back-catalogue so much! Definitely agree with you about the first Wonder Woman movie (still haven't seen the sequel) and your thoughts about DC superheroes in general, who do tend to be more textured and layered than their Marvel counterparts.
With apologies, I'm gonna ask it again, though; which version of Justice League did you watch? Was it two hours in full IMAX widescreen, or was it six hours in a square 4:3 frame?
"We want different things, Crosshair. That doesn't mean that we have to be enemies."
@RogerRoger It was the two hour version! I'm watching all these movies on HBO Max and these are the only versions I can choose from.
However, I did notice that there are two versions of Zack Snyder's Justice League (the second Justice League movie) on HBO. One with the subtitle "Justice is Gray" and one without, but both seem to be the director's cut and are 4 hours long each. Is there any significant difference between the two?
So the missus and I were playing Netflix roulette tonight… as we just couldn’t decide on what to watch. We landed on a bit of a hidden gem from 2016 called Edge of Seventeen - great frikkin’ movie if you haven’t seen it!
@LtSargeZack Snyder's Justice League isn't a separate movie, but rather the director's original long-form cut of the Justice League you just watched, with some extra material inserted to "finish" it. Whilst there is an absolute truckload of new footage throughout, it tells the exact same story, with most of the same scenes. It's just longer, slower, darker, and thicker with foreboding atmosphere. Its "Justice is Gray" version is presented entirely in black-and-white (similar to Logan Noir).
Forgive me, I said six hours in error earlier. It is indeed four hours and a couple minutes. I'm sorry, after our previous chat about Batman V Superman, I should've warned you about this extended cut, too!
"We want different things, Crosshair. That doesn't mean that we have to be enemies."
@RogerRoger No worries! I mean, I'm following a guide for the release order of the movies and they presented Zack Snyder's Justice League as a separate entry, so I thought it was a new movie. It even says in the guide that the 2017 version is the canon movie while the 2021 version is non-canon, so I thought they were two different movies. The guide did recommend to watch 2017 first and 2021 later on, so I might just do that!
@LtSarge It's a fascinating comparative case study, for sure. Provided you've got the time for both, then that'd be real cool to see what you make of it, especially since you enjoyed the first release so much. It's the same way I approached 'em. I really liked Justice League for what it was, but also really enjoyed Zack Snyder's Justice League, albeit for slightly different reasons. Just be prepared for some familiarity!

First time watching With Honors by the way. always wanted to watch the movie back then when it was in theaters and then released for VHS but wasnt a fan of Pesci at the time..
Despite getting The Raid 2 on blu-ray absolutely ages ago I only just watched it because both are on Netflix (I'm such a lazy viewer now). The action scenes in these films are amazing, I really don't know how they made those films without a ton of stuntmen in hospital. Impressive stuff.
I also rewatched True Grit(2010), I forgot how well made that film is. The cast is excellent.
I'm trying to make an effort to watch things I haven't seen and have put in watchlists instead of rewatching lots of things I've seen before.
@LN78 I've not seen the original to compare but could understand it with the quality of The Coen's version. I especially thought Hailee Steinfeld was great, I really enjoyed her scenes with the stable boss. Not sure if Jeff Bridges has ever not been great.
