@nomither6 yeah the spider man from the PS4-5 game universe, probably my favourite iteration of the character

@LN78 Ooof… I hadn’t seen the reviews yet. Wow, what a fall from grace. I’ll probably still watch it eventually, but here I sit with Wakanda Forever unwatched on my Disney+ account and I just can’t seem to muster the interest to partake. I never completed Eternals for that matter. I have a partial watch of the show sitting in my watchlist 😅.

I’m a more enthusiastic and forgiving Marvel fan than most and even I’m losing interest. Oh how the mighty have fallen!

I found myself more hyped for the new Flash movie after I saw the trailer during the SuperBowl on Sunday.

@Th3solution
Your comments seem to echo my own thoughts...
I watched maybe 10-20 mins of Eternals and gave up on it and now keep thinking I should watch Wakanda Forever but always find something else to distract me with. Hopefully they do something awesome soon to rekindle the interest.

@LN78 It’s pretty mad that the reviews are that low, MCU films seem to get at least decent reviews even if they’re Thor 2 or 4. It must either be a bad movie or critics are just over the MCU. Part of it I feel is that with the MCU being a bit listless for a few years now, actual good movies have released and it’s made critics realise that there’s more to life than spandex.

@LN78
I really hope so. I loved the first two, massively funny films. Though I wasn't encouraged by the Xmas special which I didn't love.

I watched ant man 3 the other day. Thought it was wicked. Ant-Man and the Wasp share the spotlight a fair bit but it's good to see Hank get some good moments. Overall, very much enjoyed it. Also MODOK had me creasing up at times.

Finished watching The Amazing Spider-Man today. After having finished Miles Morales, I was in a mood to watch a Spider-Man movie. Honestly, it wasn't that bad. Andrew Garfield did a decent job of being a "cooler" Peter Parker than what we're used to seeing. It was also refreshing seeing different characters, especially Gwen Stacy instead of MJ. I was actually surprised to see her since I know very little about the Spider-Man universe and I'm only familiar with MJ being Peter's love interest. I didn't know about the villain in the movie either.

So all in all, it was a good and refreshing Spider-Man movie. After having watched it (and also played Miles Morales), I've become more interested in exploring more of this universe. When I buy another month of Disney+, I'm definitely checking out some more Spider-Man movies, including the animated ones.

@LtSarge I actually liked The Amazing Spider-Man and (even it’s sequel) more than it probably deserved. The Garfield version of Parker didn’t annoy me as much as it did others.

Just a warning — I’m not sure if the same issues are present in the EU, but at least here in the States, Disney+ has almost no live action Spider-Man content. Even the Spider-Man MCU movies are omitted like Homecoming, Far From Home, and No Way Home. None of the other Spidey movies are there either. It does however have loads of animated TV Spider-Man shows. I guess that’s because they were released before Sony bought the rights to the character…? I’m not sure why.

@LtSarge If have not seen Into the Spider-verse yet, you should. One because it is fantastic film in its own right and my favourite Spider-man movies of recent times. And also it has Miles Morales as the main character, so if you want more Miles then that is the place to go.

@LtSarge I actually think the first Amazing Spider Man is way better than it has any right to be. There are a couple of dumb reboot-isms like the re-tooled "great power" speech but other than that, I really liked it. I especially loved the scene with the cranes, when you see Spider-Man there and it really comes across well that he is young, weak and inexperienced.

I wish they'd carried on the style of the first film for the second but unfortunately they didn't. It's completely different and drops all of the theme, atmosphere, filming techniques and even characterisations of the first film. Feels like it's part of another series entirely and personally I feel like its easily the worse spider man movie.

I'll also second Johnny's recommendation for Miles Morales Spider Verse. Easily one of my favourite spider man films too. Just oozes style and is a good time from beginning to end!

@ralphdibny Yeah, the first TASM was so much better than I remembered when I watched it again. The second…. was not.

@LtSarge @JohnnyShoulder @Th3solution @nessisonett I think all 3 of the actors have done pretty good jobs as Peter/Spidey but actually think Andrew Garfield is my favourite of the 3. He most closely resembles the character I read in the comics.
I share the sentiment the first 'Amazing' is fairly good but the second is a wreck. It's like they didn't learn any lessons from 3 and try to cover too many characters/plots and it ends up a mess. I feel bad for Andrew as his version had a lot of potential.
Oh yes and Into the Spider-verse is great. Hopefully the sequel will be as good if not better.

@BearsEatBeets i’m not familiar with the comics like that but, was peter parker a hipster skater kid in the comics ? i thought peter parker was an awkward shy quiet nerd and spider-man was his alter-ego .

nomither6

nessisonett

@nomither6 They’re from the 60s, Peter was less a nerd in that sense and more just a smart kid which alienated people like Flash Thompson. And besides, he started regularly hanging out with that crowd not long after getting his powers. Those movies were pretty accurate, he was too poor for new stuff so looked from the outside like he was a hipster with outdated tech and old clothes. He wasn’t even that shy in the comics, he’s a bit of a nutter in the first few issues, constantly wishing he could beat the crap out of Flash until the whole Uncle Ben speech.

@BearsEatBeets I'm not a huge fan of the Tom Holland ones. Didn't like the teenage/school stuff in them. And the amount of stupid decisions made by some of the characters in the last one stated to annoy me eventually.
