Booked our tickets for Shang Chi & the Legend of the Ten Rings for tomorrow evening... honestly can't wait. It has been nice watching the Disney+ shows and Black Widow (on Disney+ Premium) but a pre cinema restaurant meal followed by the latest Marvel movie at a theatre puts a big smile on my face šŸ˜.

Very excited to go see Shang Chi and love that Spider-Man is coming out in December, replaces Star Wars as my Christmas time cinema visit!

Really enjoying the What If series as well. Animation can be a bit hit and miss as well as the voice acting, but the stories themselves really make up for it. I haven't read any comics so have absolutely no idea what is going on.

The Doctor Strange episode of what if absolutely broke me, I've never seen the MCU do something so heartbreaking. I won't spoil it but all I can say is, watch it.

I still haven't seen Black Widow. No Disney+ over here unfortunately and the cinemas just aren't very appealing when they require you to wear a mask throughout the movie. I'm not saying they shouldn't - just that I'd rather stay at home if that's the case, and if I'm staying home, I'd rather spend that time playing games

@Jackpaza0508 agree so much.

Felt so much dread and sadness at the end of that episode. I really didn't expect it, but wow it was amazing.

Shang-Chi will be the first time Iā€™ve been to the cinema in about 2 and a half years!

@nessisonett I think Infinity War was the last time I went!

@JohnnyShoulder I thought it was Endgame the last time I went but I actually forgot that I went last January to see Emma a couple weeks before everything started to shut down.

@nessisonett I've got some time off at the beginning of October so might go then to test the water!

spiderman is the only (marvel) super-hero i've really ever gotten into and thats mostly because of the games , same with batman . coincidentally they're both the top 2 super heroes - i think it'd be cool if batman had a crossover with noir spiderman . spiderman could easily replicate batman in an alternate gritty universe - they have strong similarities . just look at the stealth segments of spiderman and the arkham games.

i get spiderman is not dark though , but in some alternate universes i'd love to see it. noir spiderman was the closest ive seen.

aside from spiderman i'd always been curious about getting into x-men , but i feel i wouldn't be patient and dont have the time .

oh , and i also like ghostrider too . but he doesn't have enough. i actually have a tattoo of his skull on the right side of my left-bicep.

Oh boy that episode of What If was very very good. I can definitely understand people saying that itā€™s the best thing the MCU have produced.

So really enjoyed Shang Chiā€¦ isnā€™t quite as good as a lot of the reactions I have seen but is close. If I were to rate it, Iā€™d give it around an 8 out of 10ā€¦ maybe an 8.5. Itā€™s certainly one of the stronger origin movies.

It has really put me in the mood for some more wuxia though, so Iā€™m gonna have to try and twist the missusā€™ arm into a Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and House of Flying Daggers night over the weekend.

Interesting topic timing, considering that I'm finally getting my partner to slog through the MCU (it's the best available showcase for his new sound system, so I get a lot of "Movie was fine, I guess, but what about that sound design, eh?!" after each one). Despite only watching the whole thing for myself last year, I'm reassessing some of my opinions. Thor: The Dark World is better than I thought. Guardians of the Galaxy is way worse. Having said that, Ant-Man is still my favourite character.

Still need to make time for What If...? and the positive vibes sound great, but I feel like I've left it too late to start now, so I'll just binge-watch the whole thing when it's finished.

@RogerRoger Thor: The Dark World was on last night on BBC. I still think itā€™s rubbish though šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

@nessisonett one of the worst MCU movies to be sure. I remember thinking when I was playing God of War 2018 that if Marvel made a Thor movie more like Santa Monicaā€™s opus it would be so much more epic! Itā€™s funny that having watched Shang Chi last night, that they would do just that with their Asian super hero rather than their Norse one.

@nessisonett Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm not rushing to elevate it as the pinnacle of its genre or anything, but I was slightly more entertained throughout. Either because I now realise the importance of some of its story beats going forward, or because I was enjoying a decent sound system. I still think Christopher Eccleston's talents were criminally wasted throughout.
