@Jimmer-jammer As a big fan of Lovecraft, I think ,if you haven't read it already, you may enjoy Providence by Alan Moore, imo it's the best graphic novel of all time, heavily inspired by Lovecraft, complete with some - if you can handle them - grotesque visual moments, and somewhat disturbing sex scenes, but the Lovecraftian horror aspect of it is a theme that is thoroughly maintained throughout the novel, and there is even some Jungian-dream-psychology related stuff mixed in, along with some light philosophical moments, there is some straight-up gore in it as well, as you would expect for a horror-themed graphic novel based on Lovecraft's work. It is basically the horror equivalent of Watchmen, if you know that one, also by Moore, almost as good as Providence
On a related-note, I would avoid it's prequel Neonomicon as that is even more disturbing, but not in a good 'artistic' way, and the content is inferior imo, plus I don't think you need to be familiar with it to enjoy Providence .

General gaming question, what has everyone been playing lately?
I’d like to say that I’ve been marathoning Dead Rising; Deluxe Remaster, but that would be a fat lie, and I hate fat, it’s too greasy. In truth, I’ve been marathoning Gintama again, I hope I stop there and not binge another comedy though. Can safely say it’s an uncontrollable hobby of mine.
I would hope that I can get back into the Metaphor demo and also sneak in an El Paso Elsewhere purchase while I’m at it… in NZ money, that is.
Yeah, I cannot continue gaming in an American account as I’m not a big fan of the disadvantages and setbacks. First of all, I already can’t use many of the streaming apps to begin with so why even better?
And the bigger setback? By using an American acc, I am forcing myself to only access newly released games at…. 6 AM soonest where I live.
My idiocy aside, since I already can’t set my Xbox to Kuwait, the world is my oyster. So why not set it to the nearest timezone and get games a tad earlier? Then brag about it like an arsehole! Win-win!

@Malaise our mutual friend @Ravix definitely has a similar tiny tiny silly issue that’s akin to our own tiny tiny silly problem. Basically, Kingdom C**’s release tragically coincides with AC Shadow’s delayed release, thus ending up with two games in one month, a tragic fate indeed ALA my own silly DBZ/Sonic/Metaphor conundrum, which forces me to make a decision because not only are three games in a month brutal, the “deluxe” edition of two would just be too high of a spending. Games are not expensive, but that’s no excuse for me to be foolish with my money.
You mean Yakuza Pirate? That game is actually releasing fairly soon, not even 5 months from now even. February 24 I believe? Gee, I sure hope that won’t collide with a friend’s buying schedule!

Yeah Ubisoft stuff isn’t the best at launch, especially now they’ve introduced a program where you can buy three-games at once. I used that to nab the rpg trilogy in one full sweep! I should honestly get back to playing those, only hindrance I had was with the UI being a genuine nightmare but… it’s probably better now, maybe.

@Yousef- It tends to change with the passage of time. Some others I have a lot of love for are things like Resident Evil, Final Fantasy, Mass Effect, Tomb Raider, The Legend of Zelda, things like that.
However, each has either disappointed, the magic has gone or they let me down in some way. Yakuza has never done that, I obviously prefer some over others, but I love them all.
Preach! Yakuza’s consistency is an unsung hero in this age of gaming! When an era agent unreliability is to be expected, it sure is refreshing that one series wouldn’t let us down.
The RPG trilogy being Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla? Honestly, I can't even recall the UI in game. Or do you mean in the menu? I have a vague recollection of it being like a mouse cursor which was rubbish.

While the people who just love to find things to complain about are still whining about the inclusion of Yasuke, I'm just excited to be doing my sneaky assassin thing in ancient Japan! It's what we always asked for, but some people are never happy.
The overwhelming negativity and laser focus on unimportant things just gets exhausting. Games are games are games, I'm just here to try and have fun!
Agreed, it does get tiresome. It is like everyone is a developer and understands how difficult it is to make a game.

@Malaise@Yousef- oh, no no no. My problem, if you can call it that, is that i'm not going to be playing AC Shadows in February if KCDII releases then (and isn't moved because everything else in the known universe is coming out in Feb 😅) because I'll be devoting all of my gaming time to KCDII and none other. And it usually takes about 2/3 months to finish a game like that. But I was really looking forward to AC Shadows in November and it would have filled a nice gaming gap.
So, even though I'm looking forward to AC Shadows, and I think that all the hoo har that has ended up getting it delayed is f***ing stupid, it has kind of fallen off being a priority if there's a clash.
Ubisoft has caved to the internet a few times this year, and they are acting so weak minded as an entity now, which is a shame. No developers should ever have to justify why they are making a game that they want to make. The exact opposite wave of anger tried to hurt the first KCD. Looking back, they were targetted because they didn't have black characters because, erm... it is a medieval, a*se end of nowhere village setting in the middle of Bohemia in the Holy Roman Empire in 1403. The shame. But in AC they have taken a universally accepted as existing in that time period black person and made him a cool playable character that will probably be fun to play in their GAME, and bring a unique perspective to the events of that era. But that isn't allowed either, apparently, because he didn't actually do the things that he will do in the game, like collect shards of shiny sh**e and magic apples...
It's funny, as I imagine AC Shadows was set to be the most interesting in terms of a story. You would have Yasuke, an outsider who has become one with the local traditions, who will bleed for them, and Naoe (but wait, a female? uh oh, an especially hateful decision by the devs there too... 🙄) born of the land but breaking away because of the tyranny that can follow those traditions. With her trying to make Yasuke see that his honor may have been misplaced, and the true enemy is those who hold power without question, and true honor is defending the powerless. Something along those lines, anyway.
Oh well 😂 the world is a sh** show, so it is to be expected that no one is allowed to make the games they want to any more

Especially if I wanna say I’m pro-pro, which I’m not but even if I hypothetically was, I can’t hypothetically complain and be anti-pro, itll make you want to be anti-pro-pro out of pure sprite; but see that’s the problem; if pro-pros and anti-pros are immediate anti-pro-pros and anti-anti-pros, it creates an ad homiom driven environment where people are tackled rather than statements. Personally, I am both anti-anti-pro-pro and anti-anti-anti-pro, so I’m not playing either side really.

I think the problem is most people actually don't care that Yasuke is in a game, they just want to enjoy that game, same as most people don't care that there wasn't a black character in KCD. But in both cases there are differing sides that are both of the extreme in nature, and they are simply the loudest voices at that time and they make it seem like no one will ever play or buy these games and that the devs should have to cater to whoever shouts loudest in each case. And that is just WRONG.
A lot of the time recently it comes down to people shouting woke or any of the latest phrases as much as possible, but it still happens on the opposite side too, which is why I used KCD as an example. People demanding things to be included for some weird perverted view of equality when it is both totally illogical and up to the damn creators to write what they are comfortable writing.
Hogwarts Legacy is another example where J.K Rowling may or may not be an idiot, I don't know or care, and I haven't researched it that much, but in the lead up to the game it was almost a crime to want to buy or play the game because one side of the argument was shouting loudest. Even if the game itself had nothing to do with any of that.
Buying a game shouldn't ever lock you in to some socio-political argument, either. And enjoying something or not enjoying something doesn't mean you feel that way BECAUSE of the things people are arguing about on the internet.
Most people can see the difference between art it's and the creators. And most people don't care enough to be part of any shouting matches. But still, devs are starting to be affected by these loudest voices.
People that like Hogwarts Legacy aren't anti trans, they just like f***ing wizardry and witchcraft.
People that like KCD dont like it because there isnt a black character in it. They like it because it's a lovely and charming super-historical historical fiction.
People that like the idea of playing AC Shadows or Star Wars Outlaws aren't WOKE.
It really does drain all the fun out of games and media when every release is assigned some form of extreme viewpoint for or against it based on what people shouting on the internet.
Can't we just like games 😂 I may be a pretty liberal person myself, but I don't see how that should affect the entertainment that I enjoy. And others may be less liberal but that shouldn't affect the games they enjoy. It's when it gets to the extremes that these people think it has to affect everything that they live and breathe for, and thus they have to attack and defend their stance at every chance they get, even if it is about a bit of mild entertainment on a plastic box 🙄

Dual Audio, some actors natively speak Japanese, making it a super valid choice for a first time experience (at least o might do it because of my very important Sugita bias, yes you can tell I’m the wrongest person to do this recap. Don’t worry though, nothing made me this way , I was always this bad. )
