@sorteddan That’s crazy. In the U.S. I haven’t had that exact scenario, but with it being an election year I’m getting bombarded with text messages, emails, and phone calls trying to poll me. And like you say, I refuse to fill out surveys and answer questions when I don’t have any idea where it’s coming from, where it’s going, and if the data is linked to me, etc.

I’ve become increasingly annoyed at invasions of my privacy with not only polling like that, but advertising as well. When I put petrol in my car they blast advertising on the screen while they have you trapped there. I refuse to watch or listen, so I sit in my car until the tank is full and close the door so I can’t hear it. 😅 I’m not giving them my precious time and attention while they have me cornered at the pump. Unfortunately when you’re at the atm you are forced to read what’s on the screen to finish your transaction and that would just drive me insane to be ensnared into participation like that.

@Th3solution in Kuwait a somewhat similar culture around voting exists, but it’s a little more complicated. You do get a lot of respect for voting and also lose some respect if you don’t. But there’s also the element of making small connections that can potentially help you out in the long term especially with how small scale the political scene is and how it’s usually about small local politicians helping out small local rural towns, creates a nice tight knit community so intentionally or unintentionally missing out on that can be seen as tone deaf or socially inept. I don’t have that extreme stance likely since my brain isn’t as marinated in local politics as my older relatives are but when I overslept a phone call asking me to go vote I got a pretty big mouth piece from my dad I did not see coming, it was pretty harsh. You definitely get pressured into voting one way or another just like how it is in the states. I don’t mind it too much in the end but it caught me offgaurd.

Y’know, I do wonder if my brother votes considering he recently got a citizenship in the states and currently lives Atlanta (and occasionally moves to Toronto, Canada). I’m not sure how dual citizenship works in general although I do know it was illegal in Kuwait at some point to have it though I don’t think that law is enforced anymore. Still, hope my older brother is doing well. I stay in touch.

@Th3solution @sorteddan I've only had some leaflets posted through my letterbox about the election. Not had one email or message on my phone about it. Must have not ticked 'that' box.

That is strange about the cash machine though. I rarely use one these days, however I did last week and didn't have anything like that. I get annoyed enough when they ask if I want too see a statement, when I have chosen to only withdraw cash.

Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.

On the subject of banks and cash machines I had to go into my bank last week (thankfully I was off work on a day they deemed suitable to be open) to withdrawn some money and they asked me what it was for!

I've never had this question before and so my mind defaulted to saying the most stupid thing I could think of at the time which was "Drugs and Hookers"

UK. Did you vote, plan to do it later?

I'm not going to get into a political debate as I just like to mess around on here, but I will say voting just felt so solemn and unrewarding. I don't think I actually liked any of the actual candidates for MP or their plans, and I don't particularly "like" any of the party leaders either.

Revolution, anyone? 😅

@Ravix I can safely say it doesn’t feel much different over here.

So after watching a YouTube video of a so-called 'gate-keeper' boss for Nioh 2 (Yatsu No Kami) I have changed my mind, somewhat put off by the complexity of the boss' moveset, (I think it is just somewhat beyond my capabilities, at least for now) so I have shelved that idea for now and plan to make RE2 REmake my next game.

@Ravix Yeah, I did my postal vote a few weeks ago and wasn't particularly enthused about it! It will be interesting to see what turnout was like. The energy is not like '97.

@Th3solution How are you, my friend? How is work life and American Sports Enthusiasm treating you? I thought the USA did pretty well in the Cricket World Cup, actually, idk if you followed that but some of it was hosted by the States, also, how is Marvel's Midnight Sons coming along?

I actually decided to play RE2 REmake next as Nioh 2's gatekeeper boss looked beyond even my Souls-honed reflexes! Plus shooting zombies might make a welcome change from all the sword-slashing.

Edit: I know you played RE2 REmake so, if you like, I can keep you posted on my progress and perhaps grab a couple of tips and tricks from you?

I feel like I've learned everything I can about playing jazz music from listening to it and have now moved on to listening to film osts, in addition to my staple diet of hip hop, loving the Lost Highway soundtrack, which I've shared a link to in The Music Thread.

Awesome that you’ve improved at playing Jazz! Awesome skill to unlock. Film osts often have great scores that can be really aspiring as well. I should give Loving the Lost Highway ost a listen.

@BlAcK_SwOrDsMaN Doing well, thanks. American Sports has slowed down for now except for Baseball, but I’m really looking forward to the Summer Olympics. That will be my next sports obsession.

I have tried to learn about cricket but haven’t ever really understood it. It has a passionate following and does have some fans over here, but it’s not very mainstream compared to the other major sports.

Gaming-wise, I have got myself playing 3 games now simultaneously, but having a great time with each. Midnight Suns is my chill-out game to play on my Portal in bed or on the couch with sports in the background. Since it’s turn based and also can be paused, it’s good for the casual setting. My second game is still DS2: SotFS for when I have a couple hours of dedicated gaming time and won’t get distracted. Then lastly I just started Immortals of Aveum and have put about 7 hours into that. It’s a first person magic shooter and I’m really enjoying it. It’s fast-paced and more kinetic, with lots of bright colors and a traditional linear story. So it’s a nice one to play alongside the dark, open world, tactical, grinding Souls game and the turn based deck builder. Each game is different enough that I haven’t confused the control schemes too much when I switch back and forth.

As for RE2, absolutely would love to hear your thoughts as you get into it. There’s a dedicated Resident Evil thread where we could dive deeper into to it. It’s been a few years for me, but definitely give a shout if you need some tips. The key is resource management, puzzle solving, and keeping your nerves when it gets scary. 😅 There’s difficulty sliders though so you can dial it down for a less stressful run.

@Malaise Remedy doing an X-Files game would be a brilliant match. I don’t know much about Cowboy Bepop or Judge Dredd.

I’ve got lots of ideas of franchises and ideas for certain developers. Some of this carries over from the settings thread but here are some thoughts:

Have Rockstar do a Red Dead Redemption type of treatment focused on a Native American storyline. Potential characters could be Crazy Horse, Geronimo, Sitting Bull, or Sacagawea. It could be awesome to tell their stories and Rockstar could knock it out of the park.

I’ve always wanted a good Fantastic Voyage type of game that takes place as an adventure inside the human body. We have the tech and the creativity to make a fun adventure. I’m thinking Insomniac with the story-telling and Rachet & Clank inspired fun gameplay.

A favorite story of mine is H.G.Wells The Time Machine. I think a game based on that book could be great. Perhaps a reimagining of the original story, one that involves travel from Victorian setting to 800,000 years into the future to visit the Eloi and Morlocks, but could also be open and involve other time travel. I wouldn’t want it to be like the other games that involve time travel to just accomplish fetch quests or solve puzzles (although it could have those) but have a gritty storyline about humanity, it frailty and dark potential. So I’d want Naughty Dog to do it to really make it a character study about what it means to be human.

Lastly, I’d like a proper King Arthur game. We have lots of medieval ‘knights and dragons’ games, but I’d like to see the Knights of the Round, Lancelot and Guinevere, the whole love triangle and all the lore and characters. I’m thinking Santa Monica or CDPR.

@Yousef- The 'Lost Highway' ost is excellent, hope you enjoy it!
