You know that will actually show up and be good, apart from the obvious GTA VI, mine has already been debunked as I was preying for a Witcher 4 release but now that seems as though it won't arrive until 2027, I still think that Fable could be a contender and may have some potential though.
What would you love to see released this year and for what reasons.

That Crimson Desert releases in a stable and highly playable state so people stop saying it's going to crash and burn, it's literally the only game I care about this year and it gets old hearing people put something down on pure speculation. Other than that, I guess Cities Skylines 2 getting a console release (doubtful) so I can stop playing it on PC. I have no hopes or dreams for GTA VI, they proved with GTA V that all they really care about are flying motorbikes and Shark Cards. There might be a story there and an open-world but how many times have people replayed the story in GTA V? I see it as another vehicle to an online game that to me looks nothing like any of the original games in the series. After playing all three Spiderman games I'd probably add Wolverine to the list, if Insomniac go bloody and keep politics out of it. I'd also like to see Valheim and Enshrouded land smoothly on console (both are coming) again so I can stop playing both on PC. Less job cuts in the industry would be great too, I don't like seeing studio closures and people losing their livelihoods. I've played Fable on Xbox and enjoyed my time with it, I trust that they can pull it off on PS5.

Already had my biggest wish of the year come true and that being Resident Evil Requiem being an excellent game and receiving high praise from critics and gamers alike (personal 9/5/10). Other then that I suppose I really hope Phantom Blade 0 lives up to the hype it has generated, I was sold on it from the very first trailer but would be saddening if it comes out and is just a flash in the pan like Wuchang was. Finally as a pro owner I really hope that PSSR 2.0 update turns into a real game changer, It was used in RE9 already (and will be used for Crimson Desert iirc) and oh boy that game ran flawlessly, so if that's a sign of things to come we are in for a treat and also my pro purchase has been validated.

@GirlVersusGame I've read a few Crimson Desert previews (GamesRadar being the latest) and i'm getting quite excited again 😁 my expectations aren't inflated, as such, because the previews are well rounded and help form the identity of what the game actually is, but, from what I read, it seems like there will be enough to meet my needs from a game like this. I'm pretty sure what I read will satisfy yours, too. Massive Sandbox is the recurring theme amd the most promising aspect, I think.

So, my hope is the same... Let it run reasonably well and not be broken after the day 1 patch (which will likely be important on the console version) And if there are bugs or some dips, so be it - it is a massive open world sandbox not a pacman/corridor game, people.

Hopes in general:

Crimson Desert is playable and entertains people.

PSSR 2.0 gives us noticably better image quality and performance, even in unpatched games, and someone makes more Mark Cerny .gifs to celebrate.

Wolverine is a brutally violent and emotionally grown up game, and doesn't have the same exact design as SM2 with a wolverine skin, or the same dips in writing quality outside of the main story. Although at this point I will forgive the combat being semi-similar, as long as it is more like the venom combat type with more of a weight to it and the altered cinematic camera focus 🫶

Fable is good fun and uses PSSR 2.0 so I can buy it on PS and reward the devs instead of renting it on Xbox... and it actually coming out this year.

GTA 6 is actually good, inspired by crime cinema and using a lot of what made RDR2 good, rather than just more GTA online seeping into the main game... and it actually coming out this year.

I hope for a good year for the actual gamers and a bad year for the YT grifters.

@Number09 Thanks I had no idea there was a sequel in the works, the first one was my favorite survival game next to Stranded Deep. I don't know that survival games are all that popular on console? I rarely see them mentioned and they are one of my favorite genres.

@GirlVersusGame The Final chapter of the long Dark drops at the end of the month free for all users then I think all resources will be put into Blackfrost: The Long Dark 2 Stranded deep is another good one Green Hell Subnautica and The Forest are all decent survivor games I have not done any of the Story mode in the Long Dark yet I have waited all these years to finally start when part 5 drops.

@Number09 I tried The Forest and naked freaky cannibals were a bit too much but Subnautica was great as was the DLC, I need to try Green Hell. Abiotic Factor is a really good survival game that a lot of people slept on. At first the graphics looked a little dated but once you get passed the character creator and start to explore the facility it all becomes about the game play. All of the gathering is done in that same facility, office furniture/appliances/etc get broken down for crafting and base building. 7 Days to Die plays a lot better now that console is up to date with PC, Raft is another good one. It's set on a raft, all the player has at the start is a hook that they use to grab resources from the ocean then as the game progresses you build a bigger raft/other things (no spoilers) and things get a lot more interesting. Abiotic Factor was probably one of my favorite games of last year, I loved everything about it.
