@Th3solution I don't mind walking sims and games along that line. I love the Life is Strange games I've played (haven't played LiS2), most Quantic Dream games, Until Dawn, etc. I'm sure it will click before I'm done. I did play a little bit more of it this morning before work and I did enjoy it more. It seems, at least so far, that the Molly sequence in the beginning was the only truly weird sequence. The way she talked about eating everything was borderline disturbing, but I've been good with everything else.

Yes, my copy will be arriving at some point tomorrow. Once I'm done with What Remains of Edith Finch, I'll dive right into FF16. Hopefully it's there before I get home from work so I can install it right away.

@Kidfried @nessisonett If you mean Monster Boy And The Cursed Kingdom then I actually liked that a lot, got the platinum trophy as far as I remember.
There was another released later that was a remaster of an older game and I did not like that one.

Sackboy: A Big Adventure

Well, this is just delightful. I've just finished the first world and am having great fun; the level set to Uptown Funk had me smiling all the way through. It's been like a cross between AstroBot and Rayman Legends so far.

Final Fantasy XVI

Only got to play it for roughly an hour tonight since my copy arrived later than I had hoped it would, but I really like it so far. I do wish they were able to do a much better Performance Mode (don't know if they just need to develop a new engine or if they just made poor decisions), as I would obviously prefer to play the game at 60 FPS, but it's definitely not worth the graphical tradeoff. As is, it does seem to be better than some other games at 30 FPS as this was obviously their intention since it seems the camera panning and such is a bit smoother than in some games.

All in all, after my initial disappointment about the extremely lackluster Performance Mode, I'm sure I'll love the game regardless of the framerate.

@Thrillho I had a blast playing Sackboy, I really need to go back and finish it, just an all round fun game and the music sets a great tone, I agree that it feels alot like Astrobot I also got Mario Odyssey vibes.

Final Fantasy XVI, first game in a very long time that I've got at launch, being a big FF fan I just couldn't wait, I was hyped but I was holding off on launch but then the Demo swayed me! Can't wait to get stuck in properly, hopefully get a good few hours on it tonight

I went back to Judgment and I cannot believe they really used the sad Yakuza substory music (you know the one) while main characters were reminiscing about a recently deceased character. What a game.

Downloaded Metro: Exodus to give that a whirl this weekend. Started playing it a few years ago but never finished it so I'm going to start it over and see how it goes.

Almost picked up ff16 after the rave reviews and great looking gameplay. I decided to hold off until a discount as I have so many others that are free to play that I'm interested in. I started Elex 2. Elex was a diamond in the rough, quite a surprise game. So far Elex 2 is more of the same double A game and it's fantastic. Just what I was looking for. It is still VERY janky. Once you get used to it, it's not so bad. The jetpack is back and can now be upgraded to do amazing things. It really sets it apart from other open world games. I have a long ways to go, but enjoying every bit.

@Kidfried This is like my third attempt to get into it, so it’s not really clicked before. The fighting isn’t the most interesting and the tailing is godawful but the plot’s really intriguing and I do love the more detective-y side cases. Yagami’s a great protagonist too.

Got FFXVI in the post today. So will be pouring myself a rum and ginger beer along with some snacks and get stuck in a little bit later.

@PixelDragon how do you like it compared to the first game? I'm waiting for a deeper sale, but anything Star Wars always temps me.

@Elodin I'm really tempted by Elex 2, ever since the initial announcement I thought it looked interesting but then the reviews came in and I binned the idea of buying, however seeing that it is on ps extra...hmmm I really should give it a go.
One of these days I just hope that Piranha Bytes improves like Spiders have....I think they are ripe for investment as I know they develop these games with quite minimal staff. We need more Western RPGs , especially on PS.

@CaptD Elex 2 is worth a play. I would look at guides though as it doesn't hold your hand at all. It's not hard, just very vague. As long as you can deal with the jank it is fun. Reminds me of fallout 3 only with a jetpack.

@nessisonett I didn't have any problems with the combat really; it didn't feel that much different to some of the mainline games for me. But I agree that tailing sucked, although I hear it's much improved for the sequel (which I need to play at some point).

I didn't realise the version of Judgment I had gave a load of ridiculously OP'd combat items though. I only found out towards the end and one used a lightning strike that killed all normal level goons instantly. Quite handy for when you end up in yet another street fight.

Really good main story though and the court scenes and use of evidence were really well done.

@Elodin Thanks, I just watched a "Worth a buy" review and the reviewer was getting quite angry about the lack of hand holding / direction in the game so yeah I think a guide is necessary which is a bit of a shame.

Started Rogue Legacy 2 as dropped into Extra recently. Only a couple hours in and am enjoying it.

I did play the first games years ago but probably didn't understand it fully as it was one of the the first rogue lites/likes I played, so quickly ditched. Now that I've played a few more, I should hopefully stick with a bit longer.

Just picked up this year's most hated magic-slinging game Hogwar...just kidding...Forspoken for under $30 Canadian so giving that a go. So far the dialogue is not as bad as in other games I have played so not sure what that whole thing is about. The magic-wielding is fun but I am having trouble with the parkour at the moment. Something to do with running and parkour being two separate commands. And I'm gonna tell you right now that I am going to collect every single fingernail polish available in the game.

@Bentleyma

I am only a few chapters in and it is way less "badly written" than the "experts" claim it is. It's not God of War or Last of Us level writing but it's at least a JRPG style of unhinged high-concept fantasy writing. Personally, for me, there have even been a couple of emotional story beats that I wasn't expecting.

Also, I am one of the few people that still like the Ubisoft style of open world. As derided as it is these days not all games can be Elden Ring or Tears of the Kingdom.

One thing negative I will say though is, as a PS5 console exclusive, it really doesn't showcase what the PS5 is capable of.

Currently playing Aliens: Dark Descent. It’s harder than I expected, and very stressful while I try and work things out. I really like it though, very impressed. Great to play something a bit different. I’ve completed all the objectives in the first area. Strongly recommended, and for £30.
