Flipping between ck3 and Elden ring still. However I am thinking I should stop and go through my new psnow games as I doubt I'll re-up for it. I tried shadow warrior 3. Not quite as fun as doom for me. I'm thinking of Battle chasers nightwar next.

@Voltan I loved Bugsnax will definitely play the DLC!

Really enjoying Unbound: World's Apart great game so far and I've also started Ghost Runner. Will take a bit of time to get used to the controls but once they click it'll be a fantastic game!

@Voltan @MightyDemon82 I thought Bugsnax was really good too. I mean a totally random game but something that was fun and random and well a bit dark as too. Looking forward to the DLC.

If anyone is looking for a 2D platformer with a good challenge I highly recommend Unbound: world's apart. I have'nt finished the game just yet but in the final area with only 6 trophies to go before the platinum.

Nice hand drawn art style where your character looks a little like Vivi/Orco. A slight hint of metroidvania with some abilities learned as you progress but it's more of a platformer.

@MightyDemon82 Is it the same team as Seasons After Fall? Style looks similar and your description sounds similar too
I really liked that one.

edit: I checked, it's not

@Voltan thanks for bringing Seasons after Fall to my attention I'm a sucker for games like this especially if you play as an animal.

I finished FF7 Remake last night, figured this is would be a good place to share some thoughts.

Pros:

  • Graphics and animation are really great.
  • Kudos on the totally unexpected LOL moment with Cloud dancing and dressing as a girl.
  • Story is intriguing, satisfying and mixes up light-hearted moments with classic japanese drama. Probably one of the reason people loved the original so much.
  • Soundtrack is very good, although I missed the old times whenever I found a new disc (true to all modern remakes for me, to be honest).

Cons:

  • The pacing is wrong, really wrong. It should only go up in immersion, but it drops the ball often. Huge combat scene, walking sim with tight corridors (and confusing ones since they look alike), fetch quest, combat scene...
  • Final few chapters are tiresome. By chapter 15, the game picks up the pace, we face fight after fight ending in a big boss that makes you think "the final boss!". After a lot of effort and time, you beat it, only to move on directly to another huge fight, and this repeats a lot (with custcenes and small corridors in the middle). It took way more hours than needed from the first "final boss" moment to the actual final boss (who btw was easier than all that came before).
  • Unpopular opinion, but I didn't like the combat system. It's not properly action like FFXV and Kingdom Hearts, since it's not skill based, holds us back and movements can be affected by enemy attacks anytime. It's also not properly JRPG with the Active Battle System because it takes forever to load one bar and we barely have enough MP to cast interesting spells. I wish Square Enix to focus on one thing or the other.

Overall, a solid game with great story and looks, but average gameplay. I'll definitely play Part 2 to follow the story and characters, but probably won't replay FF7R anytime soon, if ever.

@RenanKJ I’ve said this many times on here but for me the combat really came alive on Hard mode.

You have such limited MP that you can’t use magic as a crutch to get you through everything so it means you have to use all the characters in your party effectively; it’s very easy in Normal mode to just use Cloud and then fire off some magic from the others.

It also means you have to be more strategic with your materia but I found this good fun. The downside is that you need to grind out having some top level HP/MP and other materia before going into Hard mode but I thought it was well worth it in the end.

@Thrillho yeah I agree about playing it through on hard mode. Normal mode just feels like going through the motions really, you never really feel in danger as you can always heal as much as you like etc. the hard playthrough felt like two or three steps up in engagement.

Remembered reading you were 'a sucker for these type of games' so thought I'd give you a nudge towards Never Alone- as it is reminding me of Seasons After Fall. Possibly because I get to play a 2D puzzle platformer as a fox again. It's simple, short, has a charming art style and I picked it up for around £2 in a recent sale!
Also get to watch documentary clips about inupiat culture when you find collectables.
should be finished with it in another hour or so but I've quite enjoyed it.

I'm switching between Horizon and The Ascent atm. The latter is way better then expected and is even more fun with some buddies. Somehow was in the mood for some orc slaying, so I installed Shadow of War... I think I'll give it another run as well.

@BrotherFilmriss I was surprised by how much I enjoyed Shadow of War… a really cool game. I do like the look of The Ascent too but for some reason I struggle to make time for twin-stickers… I have Dead Nation, Alienation and Nex Machina in the backlog. If you’ve played any of the Housemarque games, how does The Ascent match up?

Death's Door, what a brilliant game. Already making my way up to claim my final large soul.

Yakuza 5 remastered, doesn't matter what Kiryu turns his hand to. He make it look cool, driving taxi's, cooking noodles or fishing. Barely touched the story as I'm having a blast doing side stuff.

@colonelkilgore
Gameplaywise I think it's on par with Dead Nation but with less enemies. I think WH40k:Inquisitor comes even more close. You have to pull the trigger manually, you can aim high (via L2) and low and basically mix up your skills and armor, like in Diablo. There's even a basic cover system due to being able to crouch. Some of the skills like gravity bombs and homing missiles are pretty cool, I hope there's more weird sh#t to come =]

@BrotherFilmriss sounds really good… also I hadn’t heard of Warhammer 40k: Inquisitor, so I might check that out also. 👍

@colonelkilgore I thought it was solid if nothing remarkable. I've generally not liked twin stick shooters that I've played, but this didn't feel as twitchy as others.

Edit: And that game is Warhammer 40k: Inquisitor. 😂

Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.

@JohnnyShoulder I was never really into them either but after playing Nier Automata (which if you haven’t played it had some twin-stick bullet-hell sections) I’ve wanted to play some pure twin-stick shooters. Will probably end up starting with [em}Dead Nation[/em] but I am tempted by The Ascent.
