@Pixelated I’d love to give No Man’s Sky another go, particularly on PS5 as I haven’t played since around the Atlas Rises update (with the main “story”) but there are always two or three new games to play first!

Just got back into AC Valhalla. Stopped a while back, not sure why, most likely a shiny new game. I am enjoying it. I'm lvl 55ish and pushing for duel wielding heavy axes. Not sure if it is a good weapon choice, but sounds fun. I'm still getting used to the controls a bit again. I can't decide if I like dodging or blocking more. Missing often on a parry. I did get the bow from the Yule festival as mine was trash. Im now planning on focusing on the main story as I explored well out of my level range(doesn't seem to take much to do that). This should hold me over until Elden Ring.

@RogerRoger It’s definitely just a “story”. It’s a very vague plot that just gives you a little bit of direction rather than just aimlessly doing whatever. But you can completely ignore it if you want.

I thought it was well done to add a little bit more intrigue to the game and introduces some mechanics/features to you nicely.

I have entered the top 100 in Guilty Gear Strive's global ranking on PSN. It reflects play time more than skill and won't last until the morning (but I'll get there again tomorrow, probably) but it does feel pretty good

@RogerRoger I’ve reached the point where I can play against some top players and not fully embarrass myself (even if I rarely win) so I’m pretty happy indeed
I’m not exactly a competitive player but my goal with these games is always to gradually get better and so far I feel like I’m doing pretty good. I’m fine with getting smoked by kids half my age while at it 😂

@RogerRoger Your post about No Man’s Sky reads like it’s come straight out of my own mind. I even downloaded the PS5 upgrade and it’s sat there on my PS5’s hard drive collecting virtual dust. I can’t seem to get the momentum to boot it up, despite all the praise about the multiple updates which have occurred since I played the launch version.

@Th3solution I’ve moved this over to here as it felt like it was going a bit OT for the RE thread 😀

It’s a tough question about Wreckfest Vs Dirt 5. I’m really impressed with Wreckfest and how much fun it is, with varied events, a good selection of vehicles and proper damage simulation. There’s a tournaments section which gives you day, weekly and seasonal challenges and you can use your fame points to buy new vehicles. The career mode was nice as you work through from the amateur leagues to the pro leagues getting more powerful or more random vehicles (think campervans / sofa cars??) as you go. It just feels like there’s something for everyone. You want to mess around and smash stuff up - do a demolition derby - you want to race properly then have a go at a class A circuit race. The online is the same with plenty of people playing and all the events represented. I found that if I entered some of the special vehicle class races then people were just looking to smash up other people but then a lot of the specific class races e.g. A, B, C I could have a proper race.

Dirt 5 is great too. The haptics feel good and it feels good to play. There’s some really good tracks that feel bigger than those in Wreckfest and there’s time of day and weather simulation which radically changes the feel of a track over the course of a race. Some of the events feel a bit too similar though. In some cases I’ve struggled to tell the difference between Rally Raid and Landrush. Saying that there are Ice races and Gymkhana events which are radically different and require really good car control. With the career mode they’ve tried to fashion a story out of it with you having an agent and there being podcasts and sponsors etc. It adds a little more to keep you interested but I’m not sure yet if that’s working in it’s favour or not.

If you’ve got access to both then I’d definitely recommend playing both to see which one you enjoy more is my best answer 😜

@render Thanks for your response, bud. I’m not much into the online aspects of most games (at least competitive ones), so maybe Dirt 5 will be the one to try first. Also, I’m curious about the DualSense implementation of it. It seems a missed opportunity for Wreckfest to not have good haptics, given it’s reliance on car damage and demolition as a gameplay mechanic.

I’ll certainly post if I try either (or both) of them!

@thrillho lol i get the millhouse reference.. i bet most dont!

no mans sky is waaaay improved. 2 different driving vehicles now. lot of base building materials, people build skyscrapers now. also underwater swimming and base building. the game has went above and beyond what was promised. on ps5, it's 4k and 60 frames and like a whole new game. plus, co op is possible now. plus, owning star freighter ships.

The Nintendo Switch is the only console that predicts its own future... after 5 years of nothing but weaboo games, you're ready to switch to another console!

Thrillho

@Pixelated The reference was more obvious with my initial avatar but now it's just my annual update to a different game from the TV series (previously Lee Carvallo and Dash Dingo!)

But yeah, I've heard all of those things have been added and it's amazing that they've shown such commitment to it as they can't be making all that many more sales on the game. I think there was the one vehicle when I played before to go with the basic base building but everything else you mention is new to me.

Like others, I have it on my PS5 hard drive but there's too much other stuff for me to play first.

NedStarksGhost

So just finished Guardians of the Galaxy and have to say I absolutely loved it. Fantastic adventure. Not perfect, however it is well executed. I'd highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys superhero stuff!

@Thrillho Is there another game to rival No Man’s Sky that is more commonly sitting on everyone’s hard drives and yet never played? It seems like we all have it there waiting for a rainy day. 😅

Second place goes to Immortals which I downloaded when I first got my PS5 and I’ve never started.

Th3solution

@Kidfried Although I didn’t get my PS5 at launch, I was fortunate enough to get it within the first 6 months, and the library was still pretty thin, so I just loaded every game I already had with a PS5 upgrade. So that’s how NMS and Immortals ended up getting put on there. It’s also why I ever tried the abomination that is Maneater 😅. Also Destruction All-Stars. Those got deleted pretty quick after I tried them. I still have Bugsnax on there too, which I’ve never booted up yet.

Th3solution

@Voltan Yeah, I probably should try it. It doesn’t look like my kind of game, but I shouldn’t hold that against it, because the praise for it has been pretty universal. I think subconsciously I consider it a throw-away launch title, which I shouldn’t since Astrobot was excellent.

On a separate note, as I was perusing my library, I noticed that instead of the Uncharted 4 logo, my library now has the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection logo. Excitedly, I clicked on it and it appears that it’s just a logo and I still am prompted to pay the $50 for the PS5 collection. ☹️
However, I didn’t realize that if you own either UC4 or UC:LL you’re eligible to just pay $10 for the Collection when it comes out. Thankful that I kept my Lost Legacy disc then, because I doubt that the PS+ version of UC4 will count for the discounted upgrade.

Voltan

@Th3solution Yeah, not sure if they said it but it probably won't - otherwise pretty much everyone on PS5 would get it for $10 (I imagine most PS5 owners have PS+). I own both so that's not an issue for me and I'll definitely get the upgrade.

Voltan

Th3solution

@Voltan As is my usual habit, when they included UC4 with PS+ a few months ago, I sold my copy of the UC4 disc. But given they never put Lost Legacy on PS+ (It’s the only entry not to ever be included), I’ve kept it.

I still have it on my short list to replay the rest of the series. Already replayed UC1 last year.

@NedStarksGhost recently finished Guardians as well. Quite fun. They truly grasped the essence of the Guardians. Hoping they make a second.

Thrillho

@Th3solution Don’t worry, I played (and platinumed) Man-Eater so you don’t have to!

It wasn’t that bad a game but horribly samey. Chris Parnell (Cyril in Archer, Jerry in Rick and Marty) is a great narrator though.
