I haven't got the money to buy a new PC or to upgrade anytime soon and the general consensus seems to be that we won't see a PS6 until 2029 at the earliest.
So the only way I'm going to be able to play all the big games GTA 6 etc seems to be with Sony's machine... Do you think it's worth it? I have found a reasonable deal online, a 2TB digital slim edition for £619 I don't know how much the games are going for especially since would have to buy them from Sony's own shop and if you would have to keep deleting them to add more now that file sizes have gotten so huge.
Am I wasting my money or is there a deal to be had here.
EDIT:
Well, I've gone ahead and bought it, time will tell if it turns out to be a waste of money or not.
@Miserydhala I might be biased and trying to justify my own purchase, but I think you made a good choice. Especially after seeing recent headlines about RE Requiem’s performance on the Pro, and the recent rumors that the PSSR update for the Pro will soon be ready.
To follow up on something else you mentioned, even though the console is digital only it is able to be easily modified by purchasing a disc drive separately. I have quite a few PS4 and PS5 physical discs, and sometimes you can find a cheaper deal on buying a game physically, so for me it was a no-brainer to spend the extra $80. It’s quite simple to install, just takes a couple minutes. But you can add that on at any point later if you want.
But if you decide to just stay all digital, the 2TB should still be plenty of space for most average users. Even with increasing file sizes, the largest games are in the neighborhood of 300 MB, with most AAA games still being under 100 MB. And in the unlikely event you need more space, you can expand the memory and install more fairly easily as well. I doubt you’ll need to do that anytime soon.
Edit: oh, and as far as how much games go for, new releases in the PS store are usually $70 (and £70 too I think), some are $60, but if you’re new to the ecosystem then you can find games much cheaper than that. There’s almost always a sale going on and after a year (or even less sometimes) they start to be put on sale periodically so usually it’s not necessary to pay full price after the first year as long as you have patience to wait and are keeping an eye on the sales. If you make a wishlist at the store you’ll be alerted when one of the games you want goes on sale.
