@Th3solution It was indeed; it's on my bedside table as my next read so good to hear another recommendation from @velio84 and even more intrigued by this game now too!

IGN India, based on some tweet in Portuguese (yeah, weird source) claims that Returnal runs at 4K/60 and features some form of ray tracing at the same time.

Curious to see how close to the truth that is

I guess we'll see all this on Digital Foundry's review prior the release
They usually have review copies, doubt Returnal will be an exception.

@Voltan I’ll be thrilled if there’s some ray tracing included.
I was wondering if there was a way to enable and disable RT depending on the in-game situation, and I wonder if that’s what this is. Perhaps it’s 60fps the majority of the time during combat and exploration, but it implements ray tracing during story scenes like when you’re walking through the house in first person mode.

@Th3solution Google 'dynamic ray tracing' and I'll see you on the other side.

We are now in a world of people being offended for other people who they think should be offended, who arent offended.
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.

It seems that the embargo is coming to an end, so hopefully we'll start seeing much more gameplay and reviews in the upcoming days.

does anyone know how long this game is? can't find info on that yet.

@jdv95 I don't think we'll know that until the reviews are in. And even then, given the structure of the game, it will probably vary a lot, depending on how you play it

@Voltan Oh, that's good news. I hope we'll see reviews of it and impressions as soon as possible. If the game is excellent, it might get a small hype train rolling.

According to some other tweets I've seen, we might be getting some fist impressions and gameplay videos as soon as tomorrow morning (or even tonight if you're in America). I'm kinda excited.

@JohnnyShoulder Well, I ended up with a bunch of scholarly articles that quickly went over my head and I lost interest. I need the simple 6th grade reader level explanation. 😅

Live in 45 minutes

edit: I watched a few minutes and it looks great. No more footage for me ahead of release.

First impressions from Skill Up - the game looks like it deliverers and it's pretty much what we expect:

"There's been understandable concern recently about Sony's reported obsession with blockbusters that are too big to fail - the God of Wars, the Horizon: Zero Dawns and the god-forbid-it's-real The Last of Us remake - so it's quite remarkable how Returnal has arrived within mere weeks of the story like some kind of rebuttal. This is one of the most daring, dazzling and straight-up different big ticket games to come from Sony since Death Stranding." - Eurogamer

Damn this is looking good. I've been playing a bit of Resogun and quite enjoying that so if it's anything like that in quality then it's going to be good. It looks challenging but I bet once you get into the mechanics then things will get easier.

I haven't watched/read anything apart from what has been shown on State of Plays. I've got it preordered and I can't wait.

this seems to be going for some good to great review scores if the impressions are any indication. (mid 80's for a new IP)

if so then i guess sony won't wait to long to accuire the studio (if they have not already done so in secret). as i'm convinced they are waiting to see the sale and review results of returnal to make that dicision.

@jdv95 They seem to have been working closely with PlayStation for years, so that would probably make sense for both parties. Curious to see if it happens.

Regarding the HM/Sony relationship, I found this article yesterday

https://www.unrealengine.com/en-US/developer-interviews/decip...

"Our amazing partners at Sony Interactive Entertainment, after our long collaboration of having titles in multiple PlayStation console launch windows, wanted to support this as well and the result is Returnal."

I also think that HouseMarque will be a great studio to add to the PS Studios - quality seems to be something that they don't make compromises with and they their style will add variety to the exclusive games.
And on that note, it would also be great to acquire Bluepoint to pump out remakes of old classics
