Is there a way to stop the “wireless controller disconnected” notification appearing when I’m watching a film etc?

I’m sure I managed to turn them off on PS4 but there doesn’t seem to be a specific setting to do so?

Also, it was news to me to discover that PS5 trophies don’t show up on my PS4. Perhaps this was mentioned in an article about the UI or in someone’s comments on here, but I don’t remember it. It’s strange because I could have sworn that PS4 trophies would still populate your list when looking on your PS3. I’m pretty sure my PS3 and PS4 trophies still showed on my Vita.

It’s a minor thing, but now when I’m playing something on my PS4 (like Hitman last night) and I look at my trophy list after finishing a level (I like to just double check and gloat quietly of my achievements at the end of each play session) the newly earned Astrobot platinum is conspicuously absent. As time goes on, the PS4 list is going to be completely inaccurate.

I suppose it’s because of the new fancy tracking statistics that might just be too complex to put onto the PS4. But still — can’t they just list the trophies without the %complete mumbo-jumbo? Doesn’t seem like it would be that hard to do (me not being a computer programmer notwithstanding).

Also — I dislike the new trophy leveling system. I’m level 349, and I no longer care. When I was like level 27 and it was a big deal to jump one full level, that was much more interesting. Now I change levels and don’t even notice. I guess maybe when I hit 400 it will be monumental

@Thrillho Not yet, that came with an update a couple of years into the PS4's life. So will hopefully be one in a future update on PS5.

@RogerRoger Such a weird little oversight as it’s quite annoying to have the ping ten minutes into watching something. I’ll have a look and see if that other setting works/exists though!

The new system software update is available. Just installing it now.

Resident Evil 4 VR looks wild. Hopefully it comes to PSVR2 or y’know, something other than Oculus.

I turned off Auto HDR yesterday.... and immediately turned it back on. I think I've become accustomed to HDR now, but I thought it looked bloody awful.

Sony should let us customise the sound that trophy pings make. Like how you can change the noise your phone makes when you get a text. You could have the Metal Gear Solid ! noise every time you got a trophy. Or Kratos shouting "Boy!" They could sell these. This is a multi-million dollar idea and I'm giving it to them for free.

@RogerRoger Yeah mine too. I've left it in 'Game' mode as apparently that helps with things like reducing latency, but I have tweaked some of the picture settings. I had messed around them when I first bought the TV for my PS4, so didn't have to change too much.

So apparently the latest update broke uploading captured videos to Twitter (uploads to YouTube still work though)

Has anyone else been getting random shutdowns into rest mode? I’ve had it happen several times since the update. Never happened before.

TraCuz-

@SoulChimera That was an issue for me during the first 2 months but after some updates I haven't had it since Dec/Jan. Hope that's the last time it happens to you.

Currently Playing:

Rainbow 6: Siege, Kingdom Hearts 2 (1st time), Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen

@TraCuz- Interesting. I’ll keep an eye on it, but it’s definitely only done it since the update.

I’ll keep a log of what I’m actually doing each time and see if there is a pattern.

@TrueAssassin86x Eventually my save data will disappear from my old N64 games as the the batteries in the cartridges die and I will no longer be able to save. Doesn’t mean I regret getting a N64. All things will eventually wear out and break but they’re still worth playing for 15 to 20 years whilst they work.

My understanding (as a software dev) is that once you replace the battery the console can’t be used until it connects to a PSN service to sync time and it’s fine for the next XX years if it does.
So here’s the thing: I see no reason that kind of service would be disabled as long as PSN exists. It’s not like it costs the kind of resources that a PS3 store does. It might even be the same service for PS3, PS4 and PS5 and any future generations.
So I guess the real problem is that PlayStation is doomed and will be done by this time next year, according to the internet over the past week or so.

Oh, and btw - this is a point that was raised back when the consoles launched but seems to be forgotten now (I was reminded about this myself by a tweet):
The Xbox first time setup (you'd have to do this after a factory reset) requires an online activation of the console, which makes it a "time bomb" in a similar way.
