I've been extremely careful to avoid GTA spoilers - haven't seen a trailer, didn't watch the Netflix reveal - but now that we're so close to launch I'm feeling more and more that the inevitable hypenosis is something I can do without. I'll buy it on sale on a rainy afternoon in 2032.
@LN78 Well you can rest assured that you're safe in this thread, there's been no leak posting at all, and I think once the game comes out, the majority of people who will post on here will use spoiler tags and vague screen shots.
Finally pulled the trigger on my pre-order. Standard edition only as the idea of paying almost £100 for a game and some minor cosmetic additions gives me palpitations.
@Thrillho Congrats and I take it you'll be aiming for platinum? (I'm not) someone told me they had to collect barrels of toxic waste from the sea floor in the last one for a trophy. I thought they were joking, then looked into it and sure enough it was a thing. I know traditionally hidden packages are a thing too and stunt jumps, the trophy list whenever it does leak is going to have massive spoiler potential, I'll be avoiding that article/story in a big way. Radio station listings too, I just want to know if I was right about Tom and Kerry (Slayer) DJ'ing in the game, the rest I'll be experiencing from the game itself. I'm still not sure if my code in the box when installed will make that upgrade for all of those minor cosmetics available to buy/upgrade, I understand why you want to go standard, I like my shiny trinkets.

@GirlVersusGame Ha, no chance of the platinum! I don’t have one for any of the Rockstar games as they’re ridiculous. I like to do everything in the game but collectibles are often a no no for me and gold medalling all missions similarly, especially with how massive the game is likely to be anyway.
The upgrade stuff sounds quite cool but I won’t pay on principle for stuff that should probably just be in the game.
@Thrillho I don't have one either but did try with Red Dead Redemption 2. What got me was ironically seeing every animal, I spent most of the game sight seeing, looking at animals and gathering flowers and in the end a bunch of animals had never spawned. It didn't bother me too much, the reward was the experience. That's where I'm at now with gaming, I still understand and remember the taste of a good platinum, I'm just getting so much dopamine elsewhere and it's fast and direct. I'm not even sure how many side-missions Grand Theft Auto has. I played them all in bulk over a couple of weeks and because there were so many I had to focus on the story and move to the next one. That includes the stand-alone PS2 games and the Ballad of Gay Tony/Lost and The Damned. In the end I read the book about the development of the series, I'd call it a good experience. And sort of like using a time machine to travel across an entire time-line of games/pop culture/and technological advancements.
My favorite was Grand Theft Auto Three for PS2, everything felt right, the characters, the map, the writing, the humor was easy to understand, the world was more localized and if it injected the real-world into it then I missed it. The music was great too and so much classical. I don't think Six will hit the same for me, the series focuses so much on satire and it's often lost on me, the same for if they feature so many modern trends or norms, I'm hoping for a healthy balance of all things Rockstar.

@GirlVersusGame I looked back and I have 50% of the RDR2 trophies but I didn't touch the online mode for that which makes up quite a lot of them. And, like you, it still feels like I saw almost everything in the game anyway.
I did get most of the GTA5 online trophies but I played a lot of that, mostly because there was a big group of us on another forum I use that would play together. I also completed all of the online heists with the same three other guys which was a fantastic experience. It's probably the game I've played most online but it was just at the right time for me when I was young, free, and single. Much harder to do that now I'm married and have a kid!
And that's quite the undertaking to blast through all the GTA games. I played the original when I was far too young to really do so but the graphics meant it never looked that bad (even if the themes and language were..). GTA2 was a weird one but GTA3 passed me by for some reason.
Vice City is an absolute classic though and I knew that map off by heart. The 80s theme was great fun too (although I'm sure I've read that the gap from the game to know is greater than from the time it was set to the time of the game being released!!)
San Andreas was great fun too and the size of the map just mind blowing at the time. It felt like such a real living world too and the 90s throwback vibe was also fun.
GTA4 is a weird one as I played loads of it but remember so little about it apart from the Roman memes these days. I dabbled in some online play with that and there was a great mode called something like GTA races where everyone started on foot together and had to reach the goal by any means necessary so you had choices whether to grab the first vehicle and go, take a detour and nab a helicopter, or find the fastest vehicle possible. Oh, and while avoiding being blown up by everyone else too. Wonderfully chaotic fun.

I forgot it even had an online mode, probably because they pretty much abandoned it for flying bikes and all kinds of trendy craziness in GTA Online. I always viewed it as a kind of what could have been, the Online mode meant they canceled a planned DLC for Five. Maybe they had a second Undead Nightmare planned too. That was a really good game and I really hope Six has rideable horses. That's one of my goals in the game, the music, the zoo and to find a horse that can replace the cars. I'd also like a repeater rifle, a six shooter and a cowgirl hat. I'm going to be going into every clothing store on launch night.

That's the part I haven't experienced, the actual passage of time. It would be like someone never seeing James Bond, one day grabbing the full set, putting on Casino Royal with Peter Sellers (I'm counting it) and watching all of them throughout a couple of days. They'd see the improvement in the picture/sound, the vehicles and technology advancing through the years/decades, but they wouldn't feel the actual time it took between each release. Even Five is an example of that, to me Five feels like a new game that released last year (for me it did) but when I look it's (checks) in years thirteen. For for Four it's eighteen, people really did grow up around the series. You said it yourself you have a Wife and or Husband now (I don't assume) and a child, so now I wonder will your child have children of their own when we get Seven. That's why I always say life is too short, it is and I'd never waste it arguing with people or complaining about things I can't fix. Either way it's definitely going to re-release for PS6. Five has been on PS3, PS4 and PS5. Someone once showed me a meme of the game and my President and said 'see kat that's how old the game is', it worked I understood how long people were waiting for Six. It would have been five American Presidents, they used something I understood, then I grasped the time-line.

It comes from having not been allowed to play games like that or to watch violent media. I knew about the series but it wasn't until I joined this site until I really knew I needed to play them. I'd previously only played with other people/Clans and once they were all done away with I started to explore single player games. With that series I knew I'd have to try them all and going in the correct order made sense. I did the same thing with Fromsoft (Kingsfield was too hard) and Driver (it was such a shock to exit the car) Borderlands was the same, I've used this method for a couple of series now but none for those big Sony ones like Uncharted, Tomb Raider, The Last of Us or God of War, there are so many and they seem huge. They really need to remaster the older Grand Theft Autos from Playstation One to PS2, people need to experience Three. I also see it as gaining a much needed perspective for those older games, if I only played the newer ones or new games in general and not Retro I'd want the best graphics/best performance and in the process miss out of what made so many series great. It's like cars, my Dad liked classics and my Partner is a collector, I like both modern and classics but I learn more by what came before and a game is no different. They call it an engine for a reason, there's so much history there. I see so many hints of the world from the time they were released. All kinds of norms/trends and conflicts made their way into the series, all it took was turning on the radio stations and going for a drive.

Vice City for me was all about the music, I found so many bands/tracks that I liked and because I'd seen so many movies I kept seeing all of those references to each.
San Andreas was great fun too and the size of the map just mind blowing at the time. It felt like such a real living world too and the 90s throwback vibe was also fun.
I can't imagine going from one of those older games (Vice City I think) where the map loaded as you crossed from I think Coconut Grove, my real-life Florida memories aren't the best and I put that down to the humidity but in the game that was a loading screen between two islands. Then like you said the size of San Andreas, I wasn't expecting that and can't remember if those other cities were even used for the story. It was the hardest one for me to really mesh with, the culture was too different, the world was too big and it played so much like simulator. I was up against the clock too, had I played it back when it launched I would have gotten weeks of exploration/fun out of it, maybe I will with Six. I'm not sure what endgame looks like in a Grand Theft Auto game, I expect it will look like real-life. I can't imagine it looking any different, it's not like an RPG where you can farm dungeons, level-up, but I'm still curious.

It was a weird one for me too. On the one hand it featured so many Russian bands that I already knew like Glukoza (I listened to them growing up) there were others like Kino, Zveri and Seryoga. So many of the characters were Eastern European, there was of course Brighton Beach and the community. The story should have been relatable but it wasn't, due to different walks of life and circumstances for going West. What it did do was help me recognize some of the satire and understand the story better. But the missions didn't seem all that fun or memorable when compared to the DLCs, they added more colour, more depth and a little more of the craziness. The base game took itself too serious and I think tried to use bowling/activities and sight seeing for the usual padding and it was a little too bland. At least when you play all of those other games in the series, it felt like they were trying to shift to an older demographic and I don't know that it worked. Again time factors into it, I might see it differently had I not recently played San Andreas and Vice City. Vice City was so bright, colourful and funky.
Which technically is where we are again, I'm just not sure of the vibe because real-life modern Florida isn't like the Florida of The Eighties but for satire and craziness it has both in spades. L.A. is manufactured craziness, it's a kind of staged to be seen, but Florida is genuinely crazy. Hopefully I'm not insulting anyone saying that. Again it could be the humidity, I thought the place was a little bonkers and 'Florida man' exists for a reason. Maybe there will be a collectible trophy for documenting all of the famous Florida man cases. Sort of like Infinite Wealth where I had to photograph all of those naked men out and about in the world. I've said it already and I'll say it again a big part of me going day one is to be on the same page as people, I tend to buy new games and not play them. I'm too busy in real-life and if I do game I'm catching up to decades of so many systems and series, I'm making this one the exception for chat/feedback and the shared vibes. I've really enjoyed the energy leading up to the game and it served as the template I needed for understanding and identifying trolls. When I see people talking nonsense and getting spicy about 'it will flop', I know it's a troll and onto ignore they go. I haven't been able to do that with any other game because I didn't know if they were right or not, but when you insult a working man for taking time of his job to play a game he spent his money on? my sensors light up and onto ignore you go, it's been a great way to identify that element and bring balance to the content I do see.

I can't make up my mind. But Hernandez would be mildly funny in terms of trolling Benzies, though most of all he just deserves a win and to be involved with a game that is a commercial success! Mafia 3 was awesome for the actual story content and vibes, it was only the gameplay structure that let it down. And we all know how Mindseye went and he was unfortunately tarnished by it as the literal face of it.
@JDINCINERATOR It really is and Justice composed thirty tracks for the games score, it's going to be incredible. They worked with Gesaffelstein for Pusher, I like what he did with The Weekend, The Hacker and Brodinski (Bromance Records) it's gone now but the material they produced is still around.

@JohnnyShoulder I've been to his shows mostly Paris and didn't catch anything from Enter The Gamma, I don't know if he's played England but I'd be surprised if he hasn't. Justice I haven't and that tour is almost up, they aren't my usual genre either but Justice and Gesaffelstein are both French and I often spend more time there than England. Genre is just more accessible there for me, some of my favorite Jazz, Electronic, Pop, Rap even Russian Rappers living there, all come through France.
For Gesaffelstein it's a tough call but I really like 'Hard Dreams'.
For Justice it's DVNO all day and all night.
What I mean by Russian rappers from France, I've been to many of his shows he's very friendly.
I met this guy over the Summer at a show too, he's my second (current) favorite.
