Gamer fatigue is definitely a thing!
Sometimes playing a comfort game makes it impossible to pick anything new up.
Sometimes finishing a game that you thought was brilliant makes the next game you play feel / look pants.
It can be genuinely daunting looking at how many games are out there and the reluctancy to actually start something new. Its a funny old position to be in.
For me, I've played games that I was literally obsessed with that i couldn't put them down. My first play through would be so good that i would literally start the game again right after finishing the story. Regardless of New game plus or not.
But then you have fill of that game or 100% it and there's literally nothing worth left doing in it.
You have your next game lined up but cant quite bring yourself to start something new for many reasons. It doesnt scratch that itch, you cant be bothered with the new systems, it doesnt play as good, its not a gripping to begin with... etc etc
Its ok to take some time out from the whole thing and put it down.
Good time to Pursue new things, hobbies and whatnot.
What I would say is, try more games outside the "go to" genre. So many games cross over into different genres. Play something for a bit. If you weren't feeling after putting in an hour or so put it down and move on. I find the PS subscription service pretty good for this. Theres games that i would never purchase but given a chance for free, i'd try them.
Just my rambling of a fellow gamer whos felt this from time to time.

When I first got the PS5 (a good year or two after it was released) I wasn't exactly stunned by the games on offer or the upgrade from a PS4. Then about a year after that and purchasing a totally different kind of game's catalogue I started to think differently. Maybe shake up your roster of games, sometimes the big hitters and obvious titles aren't the best choices as they can share a similar narrative and get a bit predictable with the exact same story beats. Death Stranding for example can be a slog I'll agree but the sequel strips away most of the crud and makes things far more gamer friendly.

Definitely not bored on my PS5 as my backlog of games is crazy! I recently beat Resident Evil Code Veronica-X, Dino Crisis and Alien Isolation for the 1st time on PS5 and these were games I already owned on PSX, Dreamcast and PS3. Currently playing Castlevania Symphony of the Night on PS5 and I must have owned that on every Console available and never got around to it until recently.

You are definitely not overreacting, and you're 100% not alone in this!

I actually go through this exact same "gaming funk" every few months. I’ll go through gaming time, hit a wall where absolutely nothing appeals to me, and put the controller down for a while. Then, slowly but surely, the itch returns and the cycle starts all over again. It’s completely normal.

You hit the nail on the head regarding modern AAA games vs. the stuff we grew up on. Too many big games nowadays feel like checking an endless number of boxes. When you have limited free time as an adult, you have to consider whether a game is worth the time investment.

There is a reason Astro Bot and Nintendo’s first-party stuff feel so good. They prioritize pure, unadulterated fun and innovation. They respect your time. Within a few minutes, you're actually playing and smiling.

My advice? Embrace the pause button. When the boredom hits, don't force yourself to scroll through PS Plus looking for a spark. Take a complete break until the interest regenerates.

The fun always comes back when it’s ready.

Agreed. Loved my ps4. Always something great to play. Rushed to buy a ps5. I feel like it hasn't got half the use of my ps4 in an equivalent time of ownership.

You might feel bored now but when The Last Ronin comes out you're going to be singing a different tune!

I imagine most of us go through stages like this, i haven't bought a game in ages then I saw a review for 007 and I am playing again.
