I recently finished another playthrough of Baldur's Gate 3 and realised it may be doable for me to get the platinum in this awesome game. I was currently sitting on 144 platinums and thought it would be fitting to try and honour this game by making it my 150th. So I set about looking through my available games for some quick, fairly simple platinums.
With all the recent attention given to Death Stranding 2 I remembered that I did the original on PS4 and I could get a fairly simple one by getting the Director's Cut on PS5 by importing my save. Having looked up that just 3 extra trophies would be needed I stumped up the £5 upgrade and imported my completed save. However for some reason loading my save left 5 trophies after the auto-popping and for some reason a lot of my 'connections' had been lowered or lost all together. It basically meant doing a lot more deliveries to unlock all the items needed to be able to craft everything. Thankfully I enjoyed playing through a lot of it and even went and finished building the entire road network which I didn't do before. 60 hours later I had my 'auto-popped' PS5 Death Stranding.
After that I did some proper short ones in
Jusant - (several hours pretty straight forward with guide)
Endling PS4 - (about 4 hours but bit tricky at times with text guide)
Endling PS5 - (easy hour with excellent video guide from Optinoob - should have found it earlier!)
Little Nightmares 2 PS5 - (only a few hours with another vid from that channel. I did the PS4 version a while back and forgot how annoying it is in sections.)
Alone in the Dark - (I used another video guide from Optinoob again which is so efficient I had both playthroughs with extra endings done in under 5 hours. Unfortunately there is a trophy for playing for 8 hours so had to just leave it paused for 3 hours to get the platinum.)
So that's me on 149 platinums and embarking on my 'Tactician' run of BG3 🤞.
@BearsEatBeets
Good work with the recent platfest. That sounds like the kind of daft mission that I would go on...
Kinda glad that your Death Stranding plan didn't work, you shouldn't be paying £5 to auto pop a shiny (just my opinion like) so having to play for a bunch more hours makes it more of a reasonable price. Even more glad you enjoyed doing so.
And thanks for the info. Was already gonna get around to Jusant at some point but now I'm also tempted to get that vid and do a 5 hour Alone in the Dark sesh as well. (Think I may already have all the others you mentioned)
@sorteddan Cheers. Yeah I wouldn't have paid £5 for a straight auto-pop, I knew there was extra stuff to do and new content. I just ended up with quite a bit more than expected which was fine. I don't generally do auto-pop anyway, I usually just replay. The only one I remember doing it for was Ghost of Tsushima as I wanted to go straight into the expansion that came with it.
I certainly recommend checking the Optinoob (pretty sure that's the spelling) channel for quality guides for plats. He's helped me with a few now.
I don't do games just for platinums often, the last time was when I wanted to make God of War Ragnarök my 100th. So I'll probably be doing it again if/when I get near 200.
@BearsEatBeets
Oh I'm not averse to a good autopop, I just wouldn't pay to do so. In fact, in the past year I've played a couple of PS4 games when I could played the PS5 version just so I could get two shinies instead of one (Guardians of the Galaxy and more recently We Love Katamari).

A rather different two platinums earned in quick succession;
#82 Clair Obscure: Expedition 33
Not much to say about this that won’t have already been said. A wonderful game but one with some rather faffy and time consuming trophies in the post game.
#83 Thank Goodness You’re Here
A short but properly funny game (if you enjoy surreal humour), especially for the Brits. Lots of missable trophies and I had to replay the game for one but luckily you can mainline the game in about 45 mins if needed.
#59 - Borderlands 2. Sort of got massively into the game after years of dipping in and checking out because of the truly woeful humour. Probably Stockholm syndrome but the humour has sort of circled back to being so atrocious that it’s honestly borderline endearing. The game is so genuinely an affront to writing in every sense other than character development and design, Handsome Jack is really up there with the best. Gameplay wise it’s basically crack for ADHD brains, especially when I was dealing out millions of damage by the end. Sank like 150 hours into it over the last month, taking a Zer0 through all three difficulties, farming for my preferred build and doing every DLC including the BL3 prequel that basically spoiled Tales that I haven’t played by fully telling me a major character died. Platinum wise, makes you do quite a lot which I didn’t mind other than spending a couple hours killing 750 enemies with shotguns to the face for a specific challenge. Thank god for the level 30 boosted characters from the FFS DLC for the character specific trophies too, took 15 minutes instead of several hours. Honestly loved my time with the game, will absolutely play The Pre Sequel now. I really do hate Randy too, for several reasons including my love of Risk of Rain, so this is about as begrudging praise as you get, but when Gearbox get it right they really do get it right. Which is not very often.
@nessisonett Nice one. I played the hell out of the game back in the day and I think I got to like NG++ at least. The platinum was never an option seeing as you had to level each character so much so it’s interesting to hear you can get round that now.
It was fun how they added some DLC to tie it into Tales From the Borderlands too.
The Pre Sequel is fine but the oxygen mechanic is a bit of a pain. I quite enjoyed how Australian the game was with the dialogue and humour (given the developer was 2K Australia) and overall it is fine but didn’t have quite the impact on me.
I never bothered with B3 though for the reasons you give about Randy.
@Thrillho I forgot to mention the main barrier to the platinum which was that I apparently did so much slag damage that I triggered an overflow, meaning I had to do over 2 billion slag damage to get it back to 0 and complete the challenge again. Theoretically that means unlimited badass ranks but it was rather annoying. The level 30 boosted characters thing is great but it does require a DLC not included with the Handsome Collection so I’m glad I got it on the cheap.
@nessisonett
Congrats. I must get back to the PS4 version.
As I recall the challenges were pretty annoying and I spent most of the game with the shotgun even though it isn’t my preferred weapon but it needed a crazy amount of “up close and personal” shotgun kills.
@Thrillho
As stated you can use the dlc or you can get a high level coop partner to do a particular mission over and over (I think it is called Bar room blitz or beat down).
I’ve actually completed the VR version (highly recommended with the Moves/AIM) which didn’t have the DLC boost method or support coop and the character specific trophies were annoying.
@CaptD Fair enough. I doubt I’ll be going back to the game again now though; December 2013 I got my first trophy for the game on PS3! But just seven years since I got my first when replaying the game on PS4 so maybe I’m overdue a replay
@CaptD Yeah, I barely used shotguns because I used the Unkempt Harold for burst damage. I think I had about 30 close kills with the shotgun before realising I needed 750. It was a grind!
Just got platinum (#112) for Outlast 2 which has a 0.01% and I've got to say it was one of the most unfun/stressful trophies I have ever got, I do not recommend anyone attempt this unless you are a glutton for punishmentlike me...
I just got my 5,000th overall trophy (and 28th Platinum) playing RoboCop Rogue City: Unfinished Business (very fun game). I am not really a trophy hunter (as you can see from the relatively small number of Plats), but I have always liked trophies. They are a fun way to find new ways to play games, and a fun diary of what you have played.
That is why I am posting this-5,000 is not a huge number considering the years I have been gaming (and I game on other platforms, so it doesn't really capture everything I am doing). But, once I realized that it was a round number trophy, I looked back through all my old games/trophies and had a great time reminiscing about all the fantastic games I have played over the years.
Gaming is such a fun hobby. I am very thankful for it.
@Westernwolf4 I agree with you about the nostalgic value of trophies. I enjoy perusing my trophy list from time to time and reminiscing on past gaming experiences. I don’t really focus on the individual trophies of most of those games from yesteryear but just seeing the actual games and the trophy percentages is a fun stroll down memory lane. It will often help me recall times and events in my non-gaming life that were happening at the same time I was playing some of those games in the past. Great stuff.
