MaulTsir

Big congrats to everyone on the team recent plats!

Number 24 for me
#24 Cyberpunk 2077

A game I enjoyed way more than I thought I would. After all the drama I stayed away from it and then Completed it last year when the ps5 version released but left a few trophies as Ragnarok came out. Knew I'd come back to it at some point and well eventually I did, NCPD scanners to complete which was a bit of a grind but the biggest grind now especially all exploits seem to be patched out is the skill level 20! This was easily my biggest time consumer.

Thrillho

@MaulTsir Great work choom!

I actually found some of the niche combat ones the most annoying, like killing someone with the jump move etc. Luckily on my first run I spent so much time quickhacking that I got the lvl20 one easily enough. The NCPD scanner one isn’t so bad when you find out you can find the icons on the map (when they’re weirdly not automatically on it).

The main reason for me having to replay the entire game though was because I missed saving Takemura first time round…

Congrats @MaulTsir, glad that you enjoyed it. Every time I see Cyberpunk 2077 mentioned I’m like 🤔 “I really need to make some time to play that”… and then subsequently forget all about it 😅. Maybe this time it’ll stick in the mind.

@colonelkilgore I’d definitely wait for the big patch to drop first now! I might even be tempted back for a third run [tries not to make eye contact with his gaming backlog shaking its head in the corner]

@Thrillho even if it does stick in the mind it wouldn’t be until sometime in 2024 at the earliest mate 👍

CaptD

@MaulTsir Congrats on your platinum. I've yet to play cyberpunk, might wait for the complete edition which they said they will release at some point.
I think very much like Cyberpunk by Billy Idol it will be regarded a bit more fondly than at release.

MaulTsir

@Thrillho Thanks! Yeah the maps a great help for the location of the NCPD scanners, there's just a lot of them, I did a lot during my playthrough naturally as you come across them but still had a good 80 to do by the end. You have to have the right attribute levelled to get to 20, I had quick hacks to 18 but then couldn't go any further, like you I spent so much time quick hacking that it's probably the best skill to do but I only had 20 in my body attribute so had to get one of the skills linked to that to 20, well they've nerfed xp you earn massively and patched all of the exploits I could find online so I literally got my shotgun found the best place for enemies and rinsed and repeated that until done 🤣

@colonelkilgore thanks, it's definitely worth playing and I think it's a game you'd really enjoy but like Thrillho said your best waiting for the latest patch, they are bringing alot to the game apparently.

@CaptD thanks! I'd wait for the dlc to release and any patches it's going to get and then jump in, it's a brilliant game, hope you enjoy it if you ever get round to it.

@MaulTsir A late congrats. I was planning on doing a second playthrough before Phantom Liberty with the female V (to experience different things, like a different romance), but the more I thought about it (and the more I looked at my backlog), I decided to wait and do it once the big update drops. I'll probably go through Phantom Liberty sometime after that even though I pre-ordered it. I also purposely didn't do some of the side content so I'd have an even more different second playthrough. I'm another who loved the game of course.

@KilloWertz I much preferred my female V (corpo background) and thought she had much better voice acting.

Thrillho

KilloWertz

@Thrillho I thought the male voice actor was fine, but I will try to remember to do my own comparison of the two whenever I do start my second playthrough.

I have preferred the female voice acting in the original Mass Effect trilogy and now Andromeda, so I guess it wouldn't be too surprising if I agreed.

Th3solution

@KilloWertz Apparently AC Odyssey has a far superior female lead VA as well.

Honestly, who’s the last male VA who knocked it out of the park? RDR2’s Arthur probably. Otherwise, it’s always just the same 3 or 4 guys cycling over and over. North makes a great Drake and Baker was good as Joel, but otherwise they haven’t had stand out performances.

#43 - Ratchet and Clank 3/Up Your Arsenal (much better name)

Great game, slightly less ambitious than 2 but also much more focused. The platinum was great other than the grind for 10 million bolts. It really should have been cumulative rather than requiring 10 million at once.

Th3solution

@Jimmer-jammer Awesome, I’m looking forward to getting into it. Doesn’t look like he’s done anything else really, so it’ll be good to hear a fresh voice.

KilloWertz

@Th3solution That it does. The voice actress for Kassandra did do a really good job in Odyssey. I guess it makes sense in a way given that Kassandra was supposed to be the main character until Ubisoft forced them to include a male and a female.

God of War Ragnarok would be the most recent that comes to mind as far as excellent male voice acting.

@MaulTsir Congrats on that Cyberpunk plat. It's one that I have meant to go back to but haven't got around to yet having made the same mistake as @Thrillho during my initial playthrough. Still it gives me a chance to experience the DLC at some point so I'll take that as a win.

Platinum #147 - Tacoma - nice little sci fi walking/‘floating’ simulator.

Platinum #148 - Lydia - surprisingly poignant and beautiful but morbid aesthetic.

Platinum #149 - Vengeful Heart - enjoyable 8-bit (or maybe 16-bit) cyberpunk visual novel.

Platinum #150 - Final Fantasy XVI - unbelievably epic narrative, really enjoyable combat (which only improves during ng+), super high production values… not quite a perfect ten but as close to a top-tier 9 as I’ll ever play!

edit. @nessisonett congrats

@nessisonett
You're right. That name is a good one! Well done on your latest shiny.

And congrats @colonelkilgore
Though you're running a little late, I was expecting your monthly announcement around 6-7am yesterday . 😉

@nessionett
Congrats on that and yes the play on words is far better than numerical sequels. I was disappointed when insomniac did the same with Resistance 2 although the subtitle Fall of Man wasn't trying to be funny.

@colonelkilgore Well done on those and I will get to ff16 at some point.
Good luck with Dragons Dogma, I tried a couple of times to get into that but failed so I hope you enjoy it. I'm looking forward to the sequel as I feel it will be less constrained.

@oliverp @AgentCooper @sorteddan @CaptD much appreciated, cheers guys.

@sorteddan tell me about it… Final Fantasy XVI is the game that just keeps giving, so much so that it pushed me a day behind schedule 😅! Something that my control-freak id just can’t abide… which is maybe the reason that I couldn’t rate it as a 10 🤔…

@CaptD I think that you’ll really enjoy it when you get around to it mate… though I would suggest breaking up the playthroughs with something a little different in between.
