@WCB a nice way to usher in the new year, well done mate… hopefully the first of many for 2022!

@colonelkilgore thanks. I'll be working a bit more on my backlog this year and hopefully clear 10 or 12 games from it. Started up inFamous: Second Son again today so that should be my first plat of the year.

@WCB Nice. I’ve still got the last few trophies to do on Rift Apart which I was going to do with the kids. They don’t seem too bothered with it now so I might go and tidy those up myself to make it my first plat of the new year too.

First platinum of the year… I welcome RiME into the family as #34.

@Th3solution @Kidfried congratulations to you both. I really do think I need to play Death's Door one day. The hype seems to be real with that one. And I'm pretty sure I have Rime and will get to it eventually.

@Kidfried awesome info there cheers... and if I enjoy it as much as I imagine, I can always do a second playthrough on PS4 (& a second plat into the bargain).

@Keith_Zissou @colonelkilgore Thanks, gentlemen. I’m dropping a review of RiME momentarily, if you’re interested. The review merely touches on it, but the trophy difficulty is fair, and although it takes commitment, it’s also nothing egregious and there chapter select at the end for mop up. For me, time to platinum was 9-10 hours.

Also if interest for you both, I posted over on yon Demon’s Souls thread, but I’m knee deep in trudging through Boletaria collecting souls. It’s a fantastic game so far. Seems like you’d mentioned interest Keith, so here’s one Souls novice who can say it’s pretty grand so far.

@Kidfried Congrats on the plat and it’s interesting to hear it can be done in one run (a question I was going to ask).

It reminds me of the trophy from Dead Space for completing the game using only the starter weapon and Dishonored had a similar one for not unlocking any abilities (other than base level Blink). I couldn’t imagine any other way of playing the games after doing those!

319 Celeste - Well this is a WEIRD one. It's an incredibly challenging platformer, but you can get all the trophies using assist mode, and that basically removes all the difficulty. I cannot even imagine clearing the B-Sides/C-Sides without it, this game is inhuman. I thought Hollow Knight was hard, but this is something else.

To be honest, I have no idea why the developers didn't disable the trophies with assist mode, they pretty much give away the platinum. I definitely don't deserve this one, but hey, they made their choice.

@Cornaboyzzz congrats buddy… as you say, it’s quite interesting how the developers made what would’ve been an incredibly difficult platinum into a really easy one.

@Keith_Zissou well in all honesty both DeS and DS (& even Bloodborne) are both fine entry points. I personally played DeS first and maybe as a result of playing it first, it stands as my favourite of all of the Souls games (though behind Bloodborne). I think it’s ‘probably’ a little easier than the later games too, though there are still some particularly tough sections. Whichever of the From Soft games that you end up starting with, I’ll be interested to hear all about it. Hopefully it’ll click with you similarly to how DeS is clicking with @Th3solution.

@Cornaboyzzz You're right it's a bloody weird one. I've cleared the third B-Side level and it took everything out of me. I've stopped playing, partly because I got a PS5 and Astro and Demon's Souls took over, but also because I'm dreading the challenge that awaits.

I can't decide whether or not to just pop a couple of assists on (even just infinite stamina would make it so much easier) but I'm worried it would ruin it. Don't know what to do about that one.

Good job, Parappa. You can go on to the next stage now.

Not really played much over the holidays or been online but saw a discussion point from @colonelkilgore I wanted to get involved with. I'm still fairly new to trophy hunting (thanks lockdown!) but got 14 Platinums last year.

Easiest Plats:
Donut County but it was an interesting experience. I'd have liked some slightly harder puzzles.
Tales from the Borderlands.

Hardest Plats:
Hitman 3

Best Trophy List:
Hitman 3
Ghost of Tsushima

Meanwhile, the quest for the Crash 2 platinum continues. Roughly halfway there with gems and relics for the last two trophies but the fun has definitely stopped. Also about halfway through GOTG and loving it.

Congrats on all the new recent shiny trophies!

@ScarletSpidey a nice haul there spidey… and yeah lockdown was a time when I caught the bug too. I had a few plats before that point but that was when I got hooked I guess.

@ScarletSpidey Nice list and you reminded me that I hadn't put together my list either so here we go @colonelkilgore...

Easiest Platinums:
Burly Men At Sea
Arrog

Hardest Platinums:
Returnal
Hades

Quickest Platinum (earned by importing my PS4 save):
Ghost Of Tsushima (3 minutes)

Platinums most likely in the new year:
Demon's Souls
Ratchet and Clank
Plagues Tale

Best trophy list:
It Takes Two

Most glitched trophy:
Vending Spree (Control)

Over Christmas I made the very serious decision to stop going after platinum trophies so I could concentrate on making a serious dent in my backlog. I stopped playing Assassin's Creed Valhalla with loads of things still left unfinished on the map. I moved on from Guardians of the Galaxy with 85% of the trophies done after my first playthrough. I beat Kena Bridge of Spirits and didn't bother spending hours hunting for collectibles. I'm smashing my backlog to bits.

Good work @render, particularly on Returnal and Hades. I’m looking forward to taking on both of them this year… if you don’t mind, I might tag you for some advice on both of them 👊

@johncalmc I get that buddy, it’s been a balancing act for me to try and do both… and I’ve kinda just tipped the balance to chasing plats as I just keep buying games, so the backlog was never gonna get cleared anyway 😅

@colonelkilgore Go ahead and tag me if you need any advice. I loved both games so always after an excuse to talk about them 😀

A pretty easy puzzle platformer that I started way back in 2018 but never went on to finish for some reason. I did that a lot back then. I thought I'd get this one out of the way while I take a breather from inFAMOUS: Second Son, I'm doing the expert playthrough atm but my enthusiasm is flagging doing a second run off the back of first one. It's a good game, a fairly compact open worlder but it is a massive downgrade in quality from GoT imo. The graphics are pretty dark for some reason as well.

Anyway, backlog game #1 out of the way. I'm hoping for at least 12 games I can clean up to be done this year, not including any new games I start. Let's see how I go.
