It’s taken about 2 months... but has definitely felt longer... and although most people consider the MGS4 plat to be the more difficult one, I personally found this one harder. Might just be the most difficult plat of all 63 actually.

@colonelkilgore
Good work pal.
Your dedication and commitment is inspirational.

Platinum #31: Marvel's Guardians Of The Galaxy

This one can be done in one playthrough, as long as you don't make the same mistake I did in chapter 6 - in which case you'd have to repeat everything up to the end of chapter 9
At least I got to see the other version of chapter 4 - which is basically a whole different level, save for the boss fight at the end.

@colonelkilgore Bravo! The long trial is over.
Really happy for you.

Now, what was the trick? The refurbished DS3 or toothpaste or what?

@Th3solution thanks sol, so the controller rigging is actually in regards to the DualShock 3 as far as I know, as it causes the button to be only partially pressed, which would only affect a button with sensitivity.

I just brute-forced it for the most part though. While I was waiting for my refurbed dualshock3 I just played the missions over and over pushing square just long enough to raise my gun and say freeze but releasing before the gun was fired. This was extremely hit-and-miss… well more like hit-and-10x misses but I actually managed to get through 8 of the 10 remaining missions, using this method. I’m confident that I would’ve managed the last two eventually too but then my new controller arrived and as a result the final two missions were an absolute breeze.

… I am left a little curios about the controller-rigging though as although I didn’t need to do it, it was a bizarre yet fascinating little subplot.

@Iver thank you buddy, I definitely don’t deserve that level of commendation but it’s certainly appreciated. I’ve known these two games were coming all year… so it’s a bit of a relief that I’ve closed the book on these now, I can tell you.

@RogerRoger totally agreed, it was proper odyssey full of ups and downs… and everyone’s positive feedback helped a lot during those downs. Your recent alert gif in particular raised a giggle at a particularly frustrating time tbh. ‘We did it Reddit’… I mean Push Square! 😉

@RogerRoger not at all buddy it’s just another digital trinket at the end of the day but I appreciate the sentiment.

@colonelkilgore I make my full claim on my 1/1000th portion of that MGS2 platinum. 😜

Congratulations of the Metal Gear Platinums. I keep thinking about going for them but... I just don't have the patience. It feels too big a task. I still need to complete MGSV if I'm being honest.

I have started to do a Crash Bandicoot Trilogy Plat attempt. I will probably give up but gonna give it my all, starting on Crash 2 as it's got the most sentimental value. It's the first game I ever bought myself. I'm the youngest child so even though I've been playing since the Commodore 64, all those games belonged to my siblings.

@ScarletSpidey thanks SS, now I’ve heard those Crash plats are unbelievably difficult, so good luck with those. The MGS do have particularly difficult moments but they aren’t all the time. I found that it’s more the sheer amount of hours involved if anything.

I have the platinum in the first Crash Bandicoot and it is no joke. Those two bridge levels are crazy for the speedruns. I had to run on the rope on the side of the bridge and everything.

I got two thirds of the way through Crash 2 and never finished the trophy list. I'll get back to it at some point.

@johncalmc well done for even getting the plat in the first one. I’m so glad I’m not a fan of mascot-platformers... I really don’t need that ‘project’ hanging over me 🤣

ScarletSpidey

@johncalmc That's impressive, I'm leaving the first one until last as I've heard it's by by far the hardest. My enthusiasm is already waning. Even completing the game is proving a challenge! I dunno how my younger self did it. Still, managed to pick up a couple trophies over lunch so the hunt continues.

@colonelkilgore While I mostly play games for their stories these days, I LOVE platform games. I'm really glad that people are nostalgic for them again.

@ScarletSpidey yeah just coz they’re not my cuppa tea doesn’t mean I don’t understand how people like them at all… I randomly started Astros Playroom the other day and really found it quite fun.

Thrillho

@ScarletSpidey Have you played Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair?

I picked it up after a couple of people on here gave it a glowing recommendation and it’s a fantastic platformer. The titular lair is also quite the challenge!

Platinum #64 - Astro’s Playroom - as many have said before, a delightful little freebie that!

ScarletSpidey

@colonelkilgore Sorry mate, didn't mean to imply how you read it. Hope no offence taken. Congrats on the platinum.

@Thrillho I haven't but I'll add it to the list! Thanks!
