Why don't we all just calm down.  Sometimes things need maintenance.  It's not the end of the world.

It wouldn't be an issue if this was just once in a while, sadly that's not the case and to top it off, it's a paid-for service. But as always, people will make excuse after excuse for Sony.

So was it like a couple of hours not being able to play MP or download  because of Minecraft loading issues? I don't play MP yet on PS4 but I suggest people not to try playing Destiny on the day its released to avoid frustration and behave like grown ups. Maybe interesting to see what happens that day for PS4 and Xbone servers even if there r a lot more PS4 users (like 2x?)

The crowd, accepting this immediately, assumed the anti-Eurasian posters and banners everywhere were the result of acts of sabotage by agents of Goldstein and ripped them from the walls.

Exactly. I wouldn't b*tch and moan if it happened once in a while. I realize that sometimes things need maintenance, that's normal and to be expected. And I am perfectly aware that PSN being down is entirely a first world problem and doesn't really affect lifes in any significant way.

Still, it doesn't happen once in a while but more or less on a weekly basis and definitely at least one or two times a month. Thus, about half the time I want to use a service I have paid for isn't available and I find that annoying to say the least. Sony has bought Gaikai and their server tech, and if they don't use the servers for PSN because they want to use 'em for PS Now, they should at least use their expertise. Maybe I'm naive, but I would think with PSN outages happening more and more, Sony should by now have realized they have to step up their game...and have done so already. And indeed: if Minecraft is enough to bring PSN crashing down, I am very worried about Destinys launch next week.

@The_Waffler: Thank you!

I have never run into the problem where I could not log on.  Omnce or twice could not access the ps store but could still play online multiplayer, even during the scheduled maintenance.  Considering Minecraft could only be obtained via the ps store and it was its first day I imagine there was some traffic.  I guarantee I will be playing destiny on launch day without a problem.

Plus there was no pre download option for minecraft.  Destiny will not have these problems, go troll elsewhere.

Why would any complains here be trolling? Just because you didn't have any problems with PSN doesn't mean nobody else had any.

Obviously, enough people had problems for them to be an issue...or do you think Pushsquares continued articles about the PSN outages are also just trolling?

No, I think people make a bigger deal out of it than it actually is.  Of course it was down a little extra lately, DDOS attack and a scheduled maintenance.  Would you rather Sony not take it down to fix problems and have it not run well, or try to actively solve any problems they find?  As I said before, maybe its just where I live, but anytime it is down for maintenance I can still use multiplayer, only the ps store is unavailable.  Not sure why that is even a big deal.

And Sony does not force anyone to have ps plus.  Some multiplayer games require it, but not all.  I played FF14 perfectly fine before I bought my subscription.  And I am pretty sure most all of Destiny can be accessed without it.  It is a online service that is enjoyed by literally millions and you have to expect the occasional problem.  I am just happy that Sony is trying to keep it running as good as possible.

@SonyInfinity Well, many people in Europe (where I live) seem to have problems with PSN on a regular basis. And with problems I mean "not being able to play online with others on PS4". And not some mutiplayer games on PS4 require Plus, but almost all of them. MMOs like FF14 and some other free to play games are the exception, not the rule. And the strike missions, the competitive multiplayer and everything else in Destiny that is co-op does need Plus to play with others, or else it's just a single player experience.

I know that it is used by millions, and as I already said above, I do expect the occasional problem here'n there. The problem, as also said above, is that it is not occasional, but happens regularly, several times a month, at least where I live. And of course I want Sony to fix the problems. I just don't understand why Microsoft seems to be able to fix and maintenance their online service mostly without having to take it down and Sony has to take of PSN almost on a weekly basis.

As I said also above, I'm quite happy with my PS4 in general, but PS+ is a paid service that's mostly obligatory for online play on PS4 and it's not running as it should, so I'll keep calling out a problem when I see one. Of course it's not the end of the world, but I think critique is justified.

Then I suppose we will have to agree to disagree, as they say.  Maybe it is something that effects the UK more often, but I really wouldn't know as I have never had any of my multiplayer online gaming impeded.  I am actually happy Sony takes the time to constantly give us server maintenance and stability updates.  Lets me know they are on top of things.

I would also wager that come Tuesday I will have absolutely no trouble playing Destiny.  Will make sure to keep you updated:)

Indeed. Or we could agree that we seem to have different experiences/luck with PSN. Don't get me wrong, if you say that you have no problems with PSN and online gaming on it, I have no reason to not believe you, I just sadly have a different experience. Still, I am hoping that I'll also have no problems come Tuesday...hope dies last, right?

And yes, keep me updated, please!

After yesterdays problems, PSN seems to run fine again at my place, btw.

I assume different regions may experience different problems at different times.  Or maybe im just lucky, lol

Guess there was no need to worry.  PSN never went down and I have played destiny extensively now and have yet to even be booted once.  Seems like they have done a good job with rhe stability updates getting ready for the launch.  I am east coast and was expecting maybe a little trouble but have jad none what so ever.  A great launch that Sony and Bungie obviously prepared well for.

Indeed. This time around, I've had zero problems with PSN...have been playing since monday and have not experienced a single glitch. I've been online the entire day, playing Destiny and also streaming my gameplay and chatting with a friend and it all worked like a charm! Seems all those pre-launch maintenance breaks were good for something!

Well done, Sony, I'm sure PSN had to take quite a load on Tuesday.

So can everyone put all the gripes to rest about the scheduled maintenance and stability updates?  They nailed it IMO.  All the haters can keep hating but I am happy to know that Sony IS actively working to make the online experience better and better.  I am sure this will be one of if not the biggest launch of the year and it went off without a hitch on the psn side.  G'job Sony!  Now somebody needs to come eat their crow...ahem
