@MightyDemon82 nah they were fine, got 2018’s plat back in 2018 as it goes… nah just wanted to mop up the car chase section on Yakuza Kiwami’s Legend difficulty. It’s one of the biggest plat blockers I’ve personally ever experienced… in a game full of plat blockers tbh 😅. Have been one trophy short of the platinum since January.
Just did the bear fight during the tutorial, but the game crashed after the cutscene, and now I cannot continue. There's a log in my way, but I cannot destroy it or interact with it. I already rebooted the game. Does anyone know what to do here? Am I missing something?
I'm 4 hours in and done for the day. The game's awesome. Already completed a rather a large side quest - pretty sure 2018 didn't have them this early in.
I'm playing on "Give me no mercy" (one level above the default) and I'm not gonna lie, some of these minibosses are a pain
Started up Ragnarok today and played for about an hour. It's so freaking good! Just like how I remembered feeling when I played the 2018 game. Can't believe it's been over four years ago since the previous game came out. It feels just as natural to play Ragnarok as 2018. The game also looks absolutely gorgeous on base PS4 and I'm impressed at how well the game is running on nine year old hardware. Haven't experienced too much fan noise, but maybe I've taken care of my PS4 well enough lately that it's been fine overall. Was a bit concerned from the previews that it would sound really loud playing this game but it's actually quite fine. It's genuinely nice that PlayStation studios still can release great games that run well on base PS4.
@LtSarge good to know as I have both versions… so if I get to jonesing for some more God of War action in a year or so, I’ll just play the PS4 version 👍
So I’m on my own tonight, as it’s my mother-in-laws funeral tomorrow and the missus, her sister and my step-daughter are staying in the old house together one last time.
I hate being without the missus of an evening. Apart from just plain missing her company and our conversations… I can never find anything to watch, as the missus and I watch everything together. She’d go nuts if we got home after the funeral tomorrow and found out that I’d carried on with House of the Dragon or started season 5 of The Crown… or whatever else we have on the social viewing agenda without her.
So, during what is already a somber time, I’ve not wanted to even start God of War: Ragnarok until Saturday, when we can draw a line under what has been a tough few months… but obviously it’s been at the forefront of my mind since the reviews started dropping last week. So how do I quench my God of War thirst without starting it… and how do I occupy my evening alone without watching shows that my missus wants to watch with me?
Well… I finally watched Raising Kratos. I honestly don’t know how I’ve gone this long and never watched it, what with how much that God of War 2018 effected me. I’ve started it once or twice over the years… and although I was engaged and enjoying it, I’d cut it short around 10 minutes in and do something else. Well, it’s almost as if I was subconsciously keeping it in the bank for tonight, as it was the perfect way to pass 2 hours by this evening. What a great documentary!
@colonelkilgore Condolences, it sounds like it's been a bit of a rocky road lately for all of you. I hope everything goes as well as it can today.
Gaming can at least act as a distraction and allow you a moment of escape from whatever else is going on in your life. It doesn't make things go away but gives you time off from thinking about all that other stuff. You also know that you are in for an absolute treat when you do boot up GoWR so guaranteed you are going to get fully immersed in it.
I remember watching Raising Kratos when it released and enjoying it quite a bit. It gave some real revelations into how the industry works and what's involved. That and the fact that the people behind these games are only human and have the same things going on in their lives as we all do.
Despite getting the game at launch I’ve not played much. So been on a media blackout.
I’m about 7 hours in & been playing on the ‘No Mercy’ difficulty. Got absolutely destroyed at the beginning but once I hit Lvl2 gear I was good.
I like that you have access to both weapons from the first game straight away. I have definitely started using the blades more now- especially for crowd control & evasion... .
I’m playing on PS4 Pro. I started on performance mode, but the game really didn’t look that good. Switched over & it’s stunning. I can’t wait for the photo mode.
Honestly 30fps is fine if it’s done right.

Anyway, seems like this game has a ton of side content compared to the last one and most of it is pretty good
I'm currently at 21 hours but I explore as much as I can and die quite a bit, because I chose the harder difficulty. Needless to say, I'm loving every minute.
So Thrud Thorsdottir is an absolute joy… only just met her but if first impressions are anything to go by, she’ll be up there with Kratos and Mimir by the time I’m done!
I think I've managed to sink just 12 measly hours into this so far so way behind others. I'm absolutely loving it though. The combat is just as good as I remember it being in the first one. I know people complain about enemies having a big pool of health but I think that keeps it interesting as you are constantly finding ways to control the mob all around you. The exploration is what I'm getting sucked into most, and I'm getting that feeling that I'm always missing something.
Oh… my… god! Just beat The Maven, at the end of The Elden Sanctum… I must’ve died around 10 times. Found her extremely tough but oh so satisfying when it started to click.
