Topic: What PS3 game(s) are you currently playing?

All this talk about PS3 games has made me want to take out my PS3 and 360 again. I initially decided that I only wanted to keep all modern consoles out as I moved to my new apartment. But now I really want to have access to my PS3 and 360 as well. I still have so many games left to play on those consoles.

It's not on PS3 I'm playing this game, but I am playing Racedriver Grid on 360. After having finished DiRT 3, I wanted to play another racing game from Codemasters. So far it's a rather challenging game but I'm kinda enjoying it. I'm just glad to be playing another racing game from the PS3/360 era.

@Th3solution @Yousef- I’m starting… well restarting for the maybe my fourth playthrough, anyway… I’m starting GTAIV tomorrow and I’m frikkin hype! It’s been a long time since I played it and all this chat has touched-a-lot-of-stones if you catch my drift.

I’m buying a second PS3 (& another copy of the game) so me and a mate (who also has two copies and two ps3’s) are gonna boost all the online stuff but first - I’m gonna move back to Liberty City for a spell 😁

@colonelkilgore I’m incredibly hyped for you. GTA IV is a game I can replay countless times, and I did do that on release and my recent replay vindicated everything I’ve thought about it over the course more than 13 years.

It’s an astounding game in every regard, and it’s awesome you will revisit it and felt inspired to. I myself been looking for another excuse to revisit it and you know what? No time like the present.

I’m glad you’ll enjoy the online. Also, after taking such a long break, so many things are gonna hit you like a jolt of lighting. Certainly did that for me.

@colonelkilgore Interested to hear if it holds up for you. Your PS3 farewell tour would certainly not be complete without it. So you don’t have the platinum for GTAIV yet?

@Th3solution even if it doesn’t “hold up for him”, the game holds up irregardless of what would be said.
But I’m just sending one extra spicy comment before driving to work. (And yes, my uogvomg upcoming gta 6 comment won’t mince words. You’ll get the full sef-experience, unless you want the sef-family-friendly experience? Either way, best of wishes.)

@Th3solution no I only got my first plat in 2017 and even then didn’t seriously start going after them until 2020. I have gone back to get the GTAV platinum and plan on getting III’s, Vice City’s and San Andreas’ via the Definitive Editions but had always thought IV’s was no longer achievable. Turns out it is but it’s now extremely buggy due to the aged and sparsely populated online and very difficult (PSN Profiles have it as an 8/10 difficulty and PlayStation Trophies as a 10).

Whether my exploits for the plat are successful or not though, I’m just gonna enjoy revisiting a virtual place in which I spent a lot of time and haven’t been back to in around fifteen years. The sprawling immigrant tale will also be enough to get me through any concerns I have over the gameplay (though I might end up being pleasantly surprised in that regard).

Oh… and the radio stations, I can’t wait to hear all the songs and chat radio skits again. I’m gonna be on nostalgia overload for sure.

100% truth spoken on radio here. Both great music and hilarious skits. Also, if I had to rank ps2 trilogy plats on difficulty, then in my opinion:
III is the easiest (short and sweet, very little to keep track of, took me around 20 hours)
Vice City is in the middle (some things are a little harder to keep track but “Godfather” glitch still works and overall just more stuff to do. Took me 36 hours)
San Andreas is the “hardest” (moreso just tedious. San Andreas and Vice City Stories are both my least favorite to 100% due to how much you need to do. Liberty City Stories and Chinatown Wars are quite fun though).

Im pretty happy that my ps3 controllers all work still and hold a charge

By far one of my favorite things to do in gta iv.

Stand around and do nothing and take pics as the day night cycle goes by. Makes for a cool collection of pics. Oh and listen to k109, my favorite station.
Insane how stunning this game still looks.

@colonelkilgore I’ll be rooting for you. I can’t remember the last time you played something that you weren’t able to platinum, or at least feel confident that you’ll eventually go back and platinum.

@Th3solution every plat brings its own anxieties in all honesty but yeah, this is the first one in a while which has felt like there are quite so many obstacles in the way. It’ll be a fun pursuit either way though.

Started playing GTA 5 last night, though technically on PS5, it's funny to think it was a PS3 release 😅

@Yousef- i'm wondering if they added it in later updates, as I didn't remember it, and they have added some stuff for sure, even changed the handbrake button in place of a new duck and hide animation which confused the hell out of me in a race.

I am going to try and shoot cars in the fuel tank to see if they leak at some point though 😁 as that would be a cool way to end some moments. If not, the jerry can awaits all my sadistic needs 💀

I will disappoint you and say…. No, GTAV added virtually zero single player content post-ps3 release. Trust me, I’d be the first to know.
PS4 version added FPS, obviously, but also added a few weapons and allowed you to become animals by smoking pot, like a temporary dream sequence.
PS5 version added nothing. At least nothing interesting. A few new weapons that don’t stand out and there’s some radio differences across all 3 versions but really not anything to go gaga about. New radio stations is something I’d get more hyped about in other GTAs, unlike V where there’s just too many songs, plenty of good ones, but plenty of songs fullstop.

It’s challenging, but I’ve spoken with two people who did it. They’ve had a blast. I don’t have anyone to boost with, so I only went for single player achievements, they were fun nonetheless though. Perfect 10/10 game.

There’s just something about those R* open-worlds that feel… more… real… hyper-real than those from other devs.

Made some half-decent progress without having my pedal-to-the-metal. Still on the first island and a half but done some side stuff too. Also got my first online mp trophy… regardless of the difficulties I had starting a private match with a friend. No joy with that but ended up in a death match with a random and got the viral trophy Let Sleeping Rockstars Lie for killing someone, who has killed someone, who has killed someone - ad nauseam… who way back when killed a Rockstar dev. Hopefully I’ll have more luck getting into a private match tomorrow to begin the hard boosting grind 🤞.

I’m not surprised you found randos online, there’s still a few blokes playing, even on 360.
