Interesting selection of games this week.

Once again, my experience is incredibly limited, but I have played Enslaved: Odyssey to the West and will therefore mark it below as a double-weight vote. I pretty much concur with @Th3solution and the "Important" classification. Its status as something of a cult classic, not to mention the raw potential of the artistic and technical input (Andy Serkis doing full mo-cap for the protagonist Monkey was a big deal, and the touching moments this affords his interaction with Lindsey Shaw's Trip are not to be overlooked), elevates the otherwise cookie-cutter gameplay. The performance on PS3 isn't amazing, but it's still very playable. I enjoyed it a lot and, despite never usually putting much stock in critics, you're always met with 80s or 90s when you Google it.

@themcnoisy has me sold with a passionate yet objective analysis of both Dynasty Warriors and the F1 games; I'll support and replicate your considered rankings for all of those entries, thank you. And I think @Th3solution is right regarding Skyrim's technical shortcomings on PS3 at launch; the PS3 was the first generation where a game could be launched before it was "finished", after all, so I won't judge it because of a few bugs (heck, Arkham Origins was unplayable for its first four days in the wild, and I pushed that up). Despite not having played it, and never intending to play it, I can't argue with its monumental legacy and achievement.

Otherwise, taking into account everybody else's thoughts and experiences thusfar, here are my classifications. I might not be able to edit these much before the deadline, but will definitely be back Sunday and Monday for the final reckoning in the main topic; I'm also hoping that this is the last of my "stupidly busy" weeks for a while!

@themcnoisy So, apparently EyeCreate is video editing software designed to work with the PlayStation Eye camera. I've double-checked my research after last week's Dance Dance Revolution false flag (sorry again for any confusion I may have caused) but it's genuinely just coming up as the PS3's precursor to SHAREfactory... and for that, whilst I'd consider it important, I wouldn't necessarily consider it a game. It was posted as a separate download on the PS Store, though, which is why it might've been caught up in your list. Might wanna consider removing it from consideration.

@RogerRoger hmmmm I am unsure what to do with Eye create. It was a retail release but it isn't a game as such.

I'm going to keep it in as ea create and such like is in already.

So on Epic Mickey 2, I feel like it’s pointless. The first game had solid ideas, but it just bored me. The second game was received as worse than the first and it just seems like to did more harm than good as the idea might have been out to better use one day if it never existed. I feel like it killed it more than anything.

@Jaz007 agreed. I have updated my final thoughts. Which are definitely final now.

Most of the games have been touched on and I’ve appreciated the comments of those who have shared opinions. There were a couple more that I knew so little about that I did a small amount of research, so I’ll share some of my findings.

Earth Defense Force Insect Armageddon -
I’ve never played any EDF games, but there seems to be a cult following. This is apparently a third person arcadey type shooter in the series typical fashion fighting invading insects. Noted to be fairly fun for a short time but repetitive. (Not Important)
Earth Defense Force 2025 -
More of the EDF shooter with its campy SciFi storyline, this one actually had a PS4 remaster (who knew?) but I’m not sure it moved the needle much. Serviceable for what it is I think however. (Existing)
EA Sports Active 2 -
An exercise / work-out “game”, like having a virtual private trainer. Surprisingly, Sammy gave it a 9/10 in his review. (Maybe that’s why he’s so svelte 😉) But alas, I don’t think the game helped to solve the obesity epidemic, but kudos for trying EA. (Existing)
EA Sports MMA -
The MMA league sports fighting game, reviewed decently, and was the precursor to the UFC games that now come out on PS4. It was interesting to read the history of the license, as the UFC president was pretty salty about EA making this game after saying that the UFC was not a ‘real sport’ and so they partnered with THQ for UFC Undisputed in 2009, only to transfer the license over to EA for the UFC games in 2012. It’s a weird story because I’m not sure if this game was very influential in the series, and has more to do with the bizarre contracting rights fiasco. (Existing)
Eternal Sonata -
A fairly traditional JRPG with a musical twist. Playing as the pianist / composer Chopin, it was well received and I remember some buzz about it at the time. It looks nice artistically and I think the musical attacks and unique setting do seem to set it apart. (Existing to Important)

Most of the other games are either fairly well known to me personally, at least by reputation, or have had people lobby for them already, so I don’t think I’ll do much research beyond this. I’ll try to post my final vote later today or early tomorrow.

Since we're now ranking EyeCreate, I'm calling it "Important" because it obviously led us to SHAREfactory which has literally changed the way I game (and calling me a creature of habit is a severe understatement). It might not have had much of an impact on the PS3 generation, but I can't call it anything less.

I've also tweaked some of my rankings based on the subsequent expanded thoughts / opinions of my comrades, but I was pretty much in the ballpark already. Just makes things neater.

@Th3solution I have played a couple of the EDF series and it should click with me being a fan of repetition of simple game mechanics - but is actually dull as dishwater.

After the initial buzz of shooting a giant insect it's the same thing forever. Whichever was the earlier game would be more Important.

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (Very Important) ~ The First AAA game to do DLC right in-terms of sheer content for the price imo.

Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds (Important) ~ It was the first golf game that had a very good online experience while still maintaining an excellent offline experience as well!

@themcnoisy epic mickey 2 as pointless? Really? The same category as some of those hunting games we had to look at?! And lower than Duke Nukem which is terrible.
It had it's flaws but it was a good game that was entertaining. It needs to be in existing imo.
