Just WOW! I ****ing hate people and having to deal with people! Some ****ing tool contacted me to see whether I was up for doing the Splinter Cell: Blacklist online trophies last Sunday. I was already in the middle of Final Fantasy XVI at the time (as well as a schedule that takes me to 2026)… but the allure of a long unobtainable platinum being temporarily available dug deep into my trophy OCD and I put everything on hold and started it on Wednesday… I now have a mission or two left of the main campaign.

So today we agreed to have our first boosting session and what an absolute nightmare. First he didn’t want to party up… when there are like well over 10 different MP trophies that are required and all require completing specific actions and tactics… but I’m like “okay dude, it’ll probably take us a lot longer to get these done but if you don’t wanna chat that’s fine.”.

Then we play one and a half missions… stuff you could actually do on your own with two controllers, so you don’t even need an actual second player for this when you do for other things like MP matches and such which could be boosted in MP matches extremely quickly (particularly if you could frikkin communicate while doing so) and then he logs out, un-friends and blocks me!

So now I’ve started a game I wouldn’t have if I hadn’t been contacted about doing so… as, although I was quite keen to play it, I have hundreds of other games I’m also quite keen on playing… and now I’ll in all probability never be able to platinum this now as hardly anyone is playing it and the servers will probably be killed again in the not too distant. THE most fuming that I have ever been in regards to gaming! 🤬

@colonelkilgore Wow what a git.
I've met a few like that in my time boosting various games, I had a hard time with Sniper Elite 3 but generally people especially on psnprofiles are pretty helpful.
Don't give up and my advice is pop over to the boosting thread on psnprofiles and pick someone who hasn't got the trophies (always a red flag if they already have the MP trophies but not the coop ones). Plus do the competitive trophies first.

In the meantime watch out for weekly challenges that can be done solo, I remember when I did it I waited for months and then there was a "capture x number of points" and I think I did it solo in a private match.

I would help you as I still have the game but alas all my PS3s are dead.

@CaptD cheers bud, yeah shocking! If you don’t mind I’ll chat to you one day next week as I’m struggling to find anything on PSNProfiles in regards to boosting Splinter Cell: Blacklist specifically 👍

@colonelkilgore If you click on a game in psnprofiles then you might find some boosting sessions on the right side, or you can create your own. I tend to like to go for ones that just require the minimum number of boosting partners but there is a general one at the moment...

You could put your name there and people might contact you or you can just message anyone on the list , I tend to pick someone in the same time zone obviously.

Cheers @CaptD, think I’ve found someone who’s up for helping me out. 🤞 I ‘might’ have these done by the end of the weekend.

@colonelkilgore Great stuff, now is the time to get them done as the player base looks pretty good.
If you are around when that session is running (watch the time zones with psnprofiles as sometimes it doesn't adjust for BST), 7pm tonight and you might be able to just jump into a match. You don't want to ruin people's .boosting but you might win some game modes, level up etc.. (that win in each game mode trophy looks annoying).
Good luck.

@CaptD thank man, just got them done with some fella I found on there. He’d already boosted them during the PSNProfiles boosting sesh last night but was only too happy to help me out this morning 🎉

@colonelkilgore Great stuff, that was quick.
You will be so pleased you made the effort when you platinum this game, it needs to be given the respect it deserves.

CaptD

@CaptD yeah if and when I get this one popped, it will live lone in the memory 😅

render

@colonelkilgore Sounds like a right rollercoaster that, good to hear you got them done in the end 👌

@render yeah a bit of a palaver tbh… thankfully quickly rectified with a gentle nudge in the right direction by @CaptD.

The Colonel @colonelkilgore and I are going to start Shadow Warrior 2 ("free" on Extra or £3 in current sale) in a few weeks. It supports up to 4 players in coop so if anyone wants to join then just say.

Platinum notes...the game will require quite the grind, multiple playthrus and hardest difficulty completion. Only the host will get the hardest difficulty trophy although I'm guessing that if a client is also Insane difficulty then they should get it as well, if this isn't true then a cloud upload/download followed by changing the host would correct that.
There is NG+ so play on normal/easy and get all the upgrades etc.. then NG+ on insane.

PS. The game doesn't have a PS5 build and is locked to 30fps so any purists might want to look away now.
(Unfortunately it does need 60fps but it is what it is).

@colonelkilgore Putting this comment here as I'd rather not type it on psn.
I've finished the first playthrough on Shadow warrior 2, on Normal, and have just started on Insane , it isn't too difficult so far.

The main problem with the platinum is the collection of 50 secrets. Some are only available in Main story missions and the rest are in side missions which can be obtained when free roaming the side mission maps.
There is a video on psnprofiles which has about 60. They are grouped by map and then grouped in sections (as the maps are semi randomised).
What I did was write down each main story and then the various free roam maps, I then ensured that I would get all the secrets when grouped (i.e. 5-7 in calamity town). My advice is write down the location and group numbers when collected....it sounds ott and it is but you will thank me later.
I have 42 at the moment, all story ones (I followed the vid) and a few in free roam but I haven't spent too much time on those, mainly because it is tedious and annoying.

As for game play, not too difficult later on but does feel difficult at the beginning and stay away from bounties till mid late game. I did the Trails towards the end of the game they seem really difficult but aren't too bad.
For most enemies I like to spam grips of darkness (there is an amulet that helps) and guns for bosses.

I didn't intend to play this much but got a little addicted.

@CaptD okay mate, seems like quite a lot of helpful and time-saving info there… so appreciate it 👍. Sounds like you’re enjoying it, so quite keen to actually get to it… though I have a couple of things I want to clear from the backlog first. Reckon I’ll manage to make a start on it in around two weeks.

Hey @AgentCooper, I’m sorry to say that I’d kinda forgotten about this too. I’m torn… it’s a plat that I would love to have for sure… but I imagine that the online trophies could take some time (I haven’t checked in fairness… just a feeling).

I do have a lot on my plate atm but if it’s something we could boost relatively quickly I’d be down. Do you know of we’d need any additional players etc?

@AgentCooper @colomelkilgore I think my BC2 platinum took 500+ hours but I'm sure you can do it quicker. As I recall it was mainly the demonlish kills and the friend knife kills that needed boosting but the player base is probably quite low these days so who knows how well the boosting would go.

I loved that game and the dlc was superb such a shame that EA wouldn't do a remaster, probably as it would kill the player count on their current battlefield game.
The campaign was great as well.

CaptD

graymamba

@AgentCooper @CaptD hmmm… just checked the trophy guide and while the time-to-plat is stated as only 40 hours, there’s a lot of online trophies. All apart from two look like they can’t simply be boosted neither… have to happen organically in genuine matches by the looks. 🤔 to quote a great war movie, it might be A Bridge Too Far me thinks…

Temet Nosce

graymamba

@AgentCooper well if you do fire up the multiplayer let me know how it goes, I could very easily guilt-trip myself into this… I know what I’m like 😅

MidnightDragonDX

Thinking of doing AC IV: Black Flag on PS4. I have the DLC and would need help with two of the MP trophies (I can use both my PS4 and PS5 to count as two, but would need two more)...but I'm not 100% on it yet.

MidnightDragonDX

graymamba

@AgentCooper hey buddy, thanks for the update. Tbh, what you’ve experienced there is what I was worried about really. I just had a concern that we could pump 100 hours into the multiplayer and get nowhere due to a massive skills-gap. Oh well, we’ll find a different, more reasonable boosting challenge no doubt 👍
