Forza Horizon 6 (PS5)
- 2026
We don’t actually know if Forza Horizon 6 will release on PS5 in 2026, because Microsoft has announced there will be a period of timed exclusivity for Xbox and PC platforms. However, considering the significant success of Forza Horizon 5 on Sony’s format, expect this to be massive when it does eventually make its way to PlayStation. The Japan setting is bound to make this one of, if not the biggest arcade racers of the generation.
Halo: Campaign Evolved (PS5)
- 2026

Who'd have thought we'd ever see Halo on PlayStation? Well, it's happening in 2026 with the arrival of Halo: Campaign Evolved, a remake of the very first game in Xbox's lauded shooter series. As the name suggests, it focuses squarely on the story campaign, but introduces four-player local and online co-op, bringing a new flavour to the game as well as cutting edge visuals. We're sure this'll be one of PS5's most interesting releases of the year, as newcomers jump into the series and veterans revisit a classic.
Lords of the Fallen 2 (PS5)
- 2026
Dark fantasy games may be dime a dozen these days, but the original Lords of the Fallen managed to stand out in that admittedly crowded space. This sequel aims to build upon the blueprint of the original, with a refined Soulslike gameplay system and a better-realised gothic world. With nothing new on the horizon from genre pioneers FromSoftware, this should fill the gap nicely.
Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra (PS5)
- 2026
Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra should be one of the most anticipated games of 2026. The fact that it isn’t perhaps speaks to a scepticism around the title’s non-existent marketing. But make no mistake: a title penned by Uncharted’s Amy Hennig, starring both Captain America and the Black Panther, has huge potential. We just need to see much more of it.
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls (PS5)
- 2026
Sony has buddied up with Marvel once again, and it's entering the fighting games arena with a bold new take on tag-team fighters. Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is in the works from Arc System Works, a studio that's been making expressive fighting games for many years, including Dragon Ball FighterZ, Guilty Gear Strive, and many more. This new game takes popular heroes like Spider-Man and Iron Man, and gives them a brilliant anime-inspired twist. Aiming to appeal to both casual fans and hardcore players, there's a little something for everyone in this wild game, and we expect it will make a big impact in 2026.
Metro Rivals: New York (PS5)
- 2026
Train Sim World has steadily improved in popularity over the years, but its hardcore simulation gameplay is never going to appeal to everyone. That’s where Metro Rivals: New York comes in: a more arcade train racing game built on the foundations of decades of Dovetail’s development. It’s certainly a niche inclusion on this list, but if it can find its audience then it’ll be well worth paying attention to.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword (PS5)
- 2026
Having established a new golden era for itself, Capcom is bringing back another classic series with Onimusha: Way of the Sword. This action adventure looks like a refreshingly old school escapade about a samurai who wields the mysterious Oni Gauntlet, granting him power against demonic enemies. With Capcom's run of form being so impressive, we have high hopes this will be another top notch title, with great combat at its core.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake (PS5)
- 2026
This game has been in the works for a long time, having suffered many delays, but there's real potential for a superb remake here. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is often heralded as one of gaming's greatest adventures, and a revamp with modern visuals and tight gameplay will go down a treat. There's definitely a bit of a question mark over this one, but it could be a total home run for Ubisoft — if they can get it right.

The Dark Pictures Anthology: Directive 8020 (PS5)
- 2026
The Dark Pictures Anthology has been a bit up and down since it spiritually continued Supermassive’s efforts on Until Dawn, but it’s taken its time with Directive 8020, which is being pitched as a kind of self-published reboot for the series. Expect this sci-fi instalment to take inspiration from the likes of Alien, with a new feature named Turning Points allowing you to rewind time and pick different decisions.
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis (PS5)
- 2026
A second remake of the original Tomb Raider game, after 2007’s Tomb Raider Anniversary. This game will build the foundations for all-new entry Tomb Raider Catalyst, due out in 2027. And for fans who missed the acrobatics of classic Lara Croft, it should plot a return of the superhuman feats of the classic character, after the survivor trilogy’s more tame adventures.
Those are the 40 highlights we think demand your attention on PS5 in 2026, then, but there’s no shortage of other games on the docket. We want to know which of our picks you’re particularly looking forward to, and any other noteworthy games you think we’re remiss not to mention. Let us know below.

Probably 6 for me there... no blood of dawn walker, or did I miss it?
That's a hell of a slate for the year. You could bottle my excitement for RE, Lego Batman and 007, and sell it as a high!
I think Crimson Desert could be a sleeper, and it's probably my next big open world game.
I would avoid Code Violet like the plague, and look forward to reviews.
Code Violet = Red flag
Endfield = Sammy's new addiction
Nioh 3 = A must play
Romeo is dead a man = wait on reviews
RE9 = GOTY contender
FF2R = Day 1
Crimson Desert = Wait on reviews
Marathon = Wait on reviews
Saros = Day 1 duh
Phantom Blade 0 = Most hyped game
Wolverine = In Insomniac we trust
GTA6 = 2027
Pragmata = The demo changed my mind (in a good way)
Onimusha = Needs a demo/more gameplay shown off
Tomb Raider = Lara is too attractive = makes it a day 1
Halo = Needed MP to make it a purchase for me
There's not actually THAT many i'm really excited about. But this is usually the way and games I've never heard of yet will be fantastic. Additionally everyone could stop releasing games for few years and I still wouldn't make a significant dent to my backlog. Too many good games, not enough time.
Super excited for Marathon, just need PS Plus to go on discount before then 😅
PushSquare confirmed the release date for GTA6. Finally I can look forward to playing it!
Lol...really? 3 gacha games and Trails Beyond The Horizon, Sky 2nd Chapter, Grand Bazaar, and Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma (arguably the return of Marvelous farming sims into PlayStation) is not in this list? The more appropriate title for this article would be "MY personal choice of 40+ PS5 Games to Play in 2026".
You must not like Trails Beyond the Horizon huh.
For me the games I'm looking forward to the most are Trails Beyond the Horizon, Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined, Monster Hunter Stories 2, Pragmata, Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter, Fatal Frame 2, Decapolice and Fate/EXTRA Record.
Great list! 2026 is going to be great year for games.
One of my most anticipated I did not see on the list: Mouse PI for Hire.
Code Violet needs a demo badly! I love the lower quality Resi knockoffs. If this one is at least in the same league as Tormented Souls, it should be a fun one.
Saros and Phantom Blade 0 are going to be on my "wait until they're $30" list. They both look great, but there's already a lot competing with my backlog. Everything Capcom looks great - even Pragmata. The demo really got me interested in that one.
I'm sure there will be others that pop off. Dispatch wasn't even on my radar (or Sonar?), and I blitzed through it twice in three days. I think I can plat it in one more, which is wild because I don't play for trophies.
As a long-time fighting game player (since 1991), it isn't. Zero interest in this.
Removed - inappropriate language
Hell let loose: Vietnam, Road Kings and Vampire Crawlers are day one for me. Maybe GTA 6 and Marvel Tokon.
Anyway, 2026 looks another good year for gamers.
007, Tomb Raider, Requiem, Reanimal and Wolverine are the big ones for me.
Left off GTA just in case we get delayed again!!
Romeo is the intriguing one.
And the one not on the list is AC Black Flag Remake.
Requiem, Pragmata, Halo, and Control for me! Plus Mina the Hollower, even though it’s not on this list (and Bubsy 4D!). I’d be lying if I outright denied wanting to give GTA6 a spin. There’s a lot I’m on the fence about next year, honestly. It’s either going to be a huge year next year… or not… depending on what I read in reviews. Like Tomb Raider, 007, and DQ7 Remake are all games I want to see before I play, for instance.
Outside that, the Nintendo first party output is really hitting me in my gaming pocket next year with Fire Emblem and the B tier first party games. Mario Tennis is my jam. That’s probably my first 2026 game.
This is definitely the first year of PS5 that I'm excited for and also nervous how I'll have time to play the games!
Pragmata, RE9, 007, Control 2, Wolverine, Tomb Raider, GTA6 and a few others that I'm sure I'm forgetting.
I'm excited for:
There's a few on there I'm quite excited for, with GTA 6, 007, and Lego Batman being the biggest ones. There's probably a few more that I could become interested in as they get closer to their release date.
Missing from the list, but I hope Danganronpa 2x2 lives up to the standards of the previous games.
Judas? It's been cooking so long it has to be this year.
My day one’s
Pragmata
Saros
Lego Batman Legacy of the Dark Knight
Phantom Blade 0
Wolverine
Tides of Annihilation (if out this year)
Crimson Desert a couple of months after release
Highguard at 0 percent is where it should be some great games in the future coming out wolverine and phantom blade look great
Oooh, this was a fun one!
1. Wolverine
2. Saros
3. 007
4. RE9
5. Pragmata
Lots of things in there I want to play at some point, but in terms of definitive Day 1 purchases, so far I've narrowed it down to Yakuza Kiwami 3 and RE9.
As the year carries on, I could see myself buying some more stuff at launch, like Phantom Blade 0.
You guys see the videos for Code Violet? It’s pure darkness. Like, there’s gotta be better footage out there to showcase the game.
Also. Seeing all these. How much you wanna bet there’ll be a bevy of “There’s no games to play!” comments.
I have to buy 6 games this year as I just start my no-spend challenge for a year to increase my savings faster so I can afford the house of my own instead of rent or council house. Here's my list that I want to buy so far;
Tomb Raider Legacy of Atlantis
GTA6
Marvel's Wolverine
007's First Light
RE9
Salasta 2 (PC exclusive).
Pragmata is currently my most anticipated game, I absolutely loved the demo and can’t wait for more.
Resident Evil Requiem is by far no.1 for me. That and Duskblood and Fire Emblem over on switch are the only certain games im planning on buying.
Pragmata, Blood of Dawn Walker, and Tomb Raider remake are in my maybe list.
Cant wait to play 007 that is being made for "modern audiences"
