Sony’s announced that the first episode of the Heavy Rain Chronicles DLC, Madison Paige’s The Taxidermist, will launch on the Playstation Store this coming April 1st for $4.99.

We described the DLC as “horror-led” in our 3/4 scoring review for the content. If you loved Heavy Rain, you should definitely be excited about this one hour slice of gameplay.

Peter Molyneux’s All Like, “Heavy Rain Is The Future And Stuff…”

Molyneux's Quite A Fan Of Heavy Rain It Seems.

Microsoft’s Peter Molyneux never fails to deliver a quote that’s worth reading. Whether he’s hyping up his own game as the relative second coming of Elvis Presley, or simply stating something ridiculous — the dude’s a master of spin. Turns out that in his latest interview with Joystiq he wants to hype a Playstation product, rather than his own. Fair game Mr. Molyneux.

The “visionary” said of Heavy Rain:

“I recommend anyone who wants to start to see the first glimpses of the future of video games to go out and buy it.

“But there’s no question in my mind that games like Heavy Rain — games that have a new fidelity in the way that they present their experiences; obviously made with cinematography and motion capture in mind — can really show the way forward to a new form of entertainment, which is evolving the story and choices and consequences.

“But, personally, I could not bring myself to play more than 90 minutes, because the world that was there was so dark and so emotionally involving I felt emotionally beaten up.”

Y’know, reviewing Heavy Rain, we can relate. We had to turn it off actually. There are moments in that game where it all gets a bit too “much”.

Press X To Jaaaaaaaaaaaaason!!!1

Jaaaaaaaaaaaaaasoooon!

Jaaaaaaaaaaaaaasoooon!

Those of you who played Heavy Rain may remember Ethan Mars’ tense-search for his son in a busy shopping mall. The command prompts enthused you press the “X” button – the result? “Jaaaaaaaaaaaasoooon!”

Perhaps on purpose, this Flash game on Heavy.com decides to completely miss the point. Forget the origami killer – this is all about pressing X To “Jason”. Check it out, it’s pretty funny.

Final Fantasy XIII Tops The UK Sales Charts, PS3 SKU Wins The War

No Surprise Seeing Final Fantasy XIII Top The Charts Now Is It?

No Surprise Seeing Final Fantasy XIII Top The Charts Now Is It?

Final Fantasy XIII has shot straight to the top of the UK sales charts, with the PS3 version of the game managing 54% of the sales. Not the hugest of discrepancies between the SKUs, but it’s often rare a PS3 multiplatform game outsells its XBOX 360 rival – particularly when Microsoft have broken the metaphorical bank marketing the game exclusive to their platform.

Most exciting for us about this week’s chart is the position of Heavy Rain, still clutching tightly to the number four spot. Game’s not gonna sell right?

Heavy Rain Stock Shortages Are Being Dealt With

There Are Some Shortages Of Heavy Rain Right Now.

If your PS3 is totally working right now, you might be suffering from a whole new problem this evening: you can’t find a copy of Heavy Rain. According to MCV, Quantic Dream’s thriller is suffering from shortages in some retail circles after the game shot straight to the top of the UK charts this morning.

“We have been extremely delighted with the demand for Heavy Rain,” a Sony rep told VG247.

“Whilst it isn’t out of stock we are aware that supplies are running low. There is still supply in the chain, but I’m afraid if you’re hunting for a copy it may require a little extra footwork. There will be more stock arriving next week.”

We suggest going out and seeking a copy of the game. It really is absolutely fantastic.

New Line Cinema Own The Rights For A Heavy Rain Movie, Won’t Ever Happen

Heavy Rain: The Movie - Not-So-Interactive Drama.

What if interactive drama wasn’t quite so interactive? It would be a movie right? Of course it would. And while it would never happen, it’s been discovered that copyright documents exist for such a thing. Apparently, in May 2006 New Line Cinema grabbed the rights for a Heavy Rain movie.

It’s totally never going to come out of course. But y’know. It’s interesting all the same.

Heavy Rain Tops The UK Sales Charts & Rightly So

Heavy Rain: Officially Not The Flop Everyone Expected.

Heavy Rain: Officially Not The Flop Everyone Expected.

“Bu-Bu-But Heavy Rain sucks because it’s not going to sell.” It may be a comment you’ve read on a message board somewhere. Well those people are not only stupid, but they’re also officially wrong: Heavy Rain just topped the UK sales charts. As in — outsold every other video game in the UK in the past seven days. We thought it was “destined for failure” oh message board source of knowledge?

It’s actually Sony’s first number one game since Killzone 2 hit last year. And it deserves to be too. If you haven’t bought Heavy Rain yet, you probably should.
