Hideo Kojima Missing from Metal Gear Solid Collection's Credits on PS5, PS4 1

While his name is still present throughout the game, Hideo Kojima has been removed from the credits of the upcoming Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol 1, which launches later this week on PS5 and PS4. New wrappers for the games simply thank “all Metal Gear staff and fans”, and don’t individually reference each contributing employee. Of course, the original credits are still included in the games themselves, where the veteran’s name remains.

Konami would probably argue that, as Kojima didn’t work on this specific compilation, he doesn’t need to be credited in the new wrapper. However, the games naturally wouldn’t exist without his original creative vision.

Of course, it’s no secret the auteur and Konami have a strained relationship these days, following his very public departure from the Japanese publisher almost a decade ago. Kojima has since gone on to form his own studio, which most recently released Death Stranding, and is currently creating a sequel for the PS5. We’re going to assume we’ll be seeing more of that game before the end of the year, because it’s been quite some time since its debut trailer.
