Persona fans have started feeling a little uneasy about the yet-to-be-confirmed localisation of Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers. The action title, which released in Japan near the beginning of this year, featured in a Koei Tecmo financial report back in July, essentially pointing to a Western release at some point in the future.
However, the company's latest report has no mention of Persona 5 Scramble, leading to fears that localisation may have been cancelled. From our perspective, we wouldn't worry too much about its absence. It could be a simple case of Koei Tecmo not wanting the internet to jump to conclusions when neither it nor SEGA are yet to make any official announcement.
The bottom line is that the coronavirus has scuppered everyone's plans over the last eight months or so, and with the next-generation of consoles set to dominate headlines going into 2021, it only makes sense to hold back on Scramble. Hopefully we hear something concrete next year.

There's no need to worry. Atlus has localized pretty much every Persona spinoff they've put out under the sun. It's likely that COVID affected both the VA scheduling due to the anime's English dub, as well as the casting process for who will play the new characters like Zenkichi and Sophia.
It's definitely still happening. There's no reason they wouldn't localize a game that's a sequel to their best selling title in their entire history as a company. Both Arena and Q games got localized, as did the Dancing games, why stop now?
@TheFrenchiestFry : "There's no reason they wouldn't localize a game that's a sequel to their best selling title in their entire history as a company."
Atlus: "Hold my beer."
@TheFrenchiestFry Basically yes.
Atlus localizes almost everything they release, and a Persona spinoff would be top of the list.
@TheFrenchiestFry They did localize Q2 but they didn't dub it, so who knows what they'll do.
Well it's not like it's going to be an amazing game anyways because it's another Warriors game. I played P5 and loved it 3 years ago, but l am tired of how they're just focusing on P5 characters. Like come on l want to hear about news of P6 already.
I think this is why P3 is my favorite because they keep on focusing P5 all the time and l can understand why. But another reason, the fandom ruined P5 when Joker joined SSBU...
Hopefully Scramble will be localized. It'd be a shame if it didn't.
A localisation would be great, hopefully it happens. I'd be quite eager to play this.
Persona 5 and Royal are still my favorite jrpgs from this gen, with that being said I would like for them to move on to the next game. I hope Scramble is the last thing for P5 and we start hearing about P6 next year.
Almost forgot about this to be honest. Although I’m sure it will get localized eventually.
@YourLastSurprise Well Q2 didn't get dubbed partially due to the fact that the game was probably not going to make back the costs for hiring all the English VAs due to it being a 3DS game in 2019, and I strongly suspect the allegation drama surrounding Vic Mignogna (Junpei's VA) was a factor too.
Luckily for them PS5 is backwards compatible, so at least there will still be an audience when/if it does release
@Rob_230 There was always going to be on audience for Persona games on PlayStation regardless of gen
That's why Atlus released Persona 3 in Japan for the PS2 right when the PS3 was about to come out, and why Persona 4 released on PS2 after the PS3 had been out for more than two years, or why Persona 5 was released on PS3 four years after the PS4's launch
I'd even wager the next numbered Persona game might see a cross gen release for both PS4/PS5 given it was confirmed to be in development a long while ago
@TheFrenchiestFry Yeah, I guess that does make sense. That's one of the things I've wondered about with a P3 remake. If they made and localized it, would they straight up recast him?
@TheFrenchiestFry I doubt Vic's allegations had any impact on the decision to not dub Q2. They've recasted characters in spinoffs before. Kanji, Chie, Rise, Margaret and Igor being a few examples.
Don't give up hope, it is coming to the west.
@Orpheus79V That is true, but Vic was never properly let go from the role and actually ended up voicing him all the way up to Arena Ultimax and Q1, so it's possible that it was still a factor especially after the Funimation situation involving him
But the dominant factor was definitely the fact that a 3DS game in 2019 was definitely not going to be incredibly lucrative or make back the costs it would take to get all the English VAs from Q1 back + the VAs for the Phantom Thieves like Xander Mobus, Erica Lindbeck and Max Mittleman
Hopeful for spring once the PS5 launch window ends. I played the Japanese demo and am really looking forward to this.
I still need to beat original Persona 5 first and then try out Persona 5 Royal, so please take your time Atlus!
P5S
Tales of Arise
Ys IX Monstrum Nox
Granblue Fantasy Relink
(and BioMutant) are my most anticipated games of 2021.
I hope and quite positive that P5S is gonna happen for the West eventually. Still gonna be rockin' my PS4 for a while.
