Sony's Big in Japan sale has only just gone live on the PlayStation Store, but that hasn't stopped the Japanese giant from providing users with yet another set of deals to munch on. The Games Under $20 promotion will go live on the morning of 29th April in the US and Europe, lasting through until 13th May. It includes some good discounts on PlayStation 4 games too, so read on to learn more.
The PlayStation Blog details just a selection of the deals going live tomorrow, but the list already includes Assassin's Creed Origins at £12.99/$14.99, Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin for £8.99/$9.99, and Dishonored 2 at just £8.99/$7.49. Donut County can be yours for a price of £4.99/$6.49, Kentucky Route Zero: TV Edition is discounted to £14.99/$19.99, and Outer Wilds comes in at £14.99/$18.74. One deal we've got our eye on is Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair at £15.99/$17.99 -- we do believe that's the cheapest it's been on PS4 at least.

Hitman 2 Gold Edition?!
Donut County, at that price, is an absolute steal. It’s such a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. The soundtrack is so memorable that I bought it on vinyl!
Sony Is Trying To Keep The Streak Going With 4 Sales In a Row Hell At This Point They Might As Well Mark Down Everything On The PSN Store
Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair is a fantastic DKC-style platformer. I'd highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys the genre.
I already spent more than I care to admit on the Big in Japan Sale. Dragon Quest XI, Final Fantasy 8, 9, 12 and finished it up with Star Ocean Till the End of Time! I'm good, no more sales! Stop the madness!
But Dishonored 2 it's looks so tempting, must resist.......
Hmm... maybe that Toe Jam and Earl game.
@Ralizah I second this. As someone that loves Donkey Kong Country, I also recommend the Impossible Lair. I even 100% it!
Rage2 for $9! (more like $15 here in canada)
Yep, i think ill bite
@Areus PS Store is such a cash cow. With PS5 being backwards compatible they are going to have some absolutely HUMONGOUS sales next-gen.
@OMG_Waffles I know this won’t help save you money, but I just finished Dishonored 2 and thought it was fantastic. Some amazing missions.
@get2sammyb They Should Add Backwards Compatibility With Digital Vita Games On The PS5
The link says dishonored 2 is $12 and the 1st one is $6
Definitely a good sale but I'm spending the rest of my psn money on the big in Japan sale. I cant pass up digimon, Star ocean, and danganronpa. I'm curious about steins gate too but if I decide not to buy it, then I'll pick up dishonored 1 for sure
Also popped up on the EU/AU PSN too.Bit disappointed once again the likes of Battle Princess Madelyn, Blazing Chrome, Castle Crashers Remastered, Time Spinner or Chasm all MIA from sale. All been out for quite some time or never had a ps4 discount. Still, Salt n Sanctuary gone on sale after an absence of 18mths-2yrs. Lets hope more indie sales like this happen.
Anyone here played Dark Souls 2? May I know how is it compare to dark souls 1 and 3? I have heard that this entry is quite divisive among the fans. Your opinions is appreciated
@get2sammyb
You can update the article with https://blog.eu.playstation.com/ as the sale are live in EU now also.
@Robocod ive been waiting so long for a sale on timespinner and chasm. One day!!
@get2sammyb
I went ahead and bought it! I enjoyed the first one well enough.
@Leon_93
DS2 is a fun game. It's kind of the dark house of all the DS games though. I found it easier then DS1 and DS3 and the story and lore was more or less a spin off then a direct sequel to DS1. For the price you should go for it you will get your moneys worth.
@get2sammyb I tried to get into Dishonored but I couldn't. I played on normal difficulty but I got spotted all the time resulting in chaos and me waiting in a corner with a pistol shooting everybody that comes through the door. And there were too many collectibles that distracted from the story but felt essential for leveling up your character. I gave up after 2 missions unfortunately.
@OMG_Waffles how is dragon quest I saw it the other day heard good things about it nearly bought it but decided on persona 5 instead, started that yesterday what a game that is loving it so far, can't believe it's taken me so long to play it after hearing loads of ppl saying how good it is about 5hrs in and already want a remaster of all persona games lol.
@Flurpsel I beat the game on Hard, gaining the no killing and never being spotted trophies. Maybe you just approached the game in a FPS style or ignoring the magic abilities.
But there are also trophies to beat it without using magic and using only weapons, so you should go that way, if you prefer.
Big in Japan sale = fantastic VNs at great prices.
I highly recommend 428 Shibuya Scramble, AI Somnium Files, Spirit Hunter: Death Mark and NG for starters. Heard great things about Chaos;Child too, though apparently the Steam version is the one to get
Is the outta worlds worth it i seem to be into RPG role playing games more at the moment and for £15 and pay day on Friday I'm interested. But I still have god of war, horizon ZD, days gone, Witcher 3 to play lol. I know is weird and probably get some slack for this but I've been enjoying Anthem more mainly because I only get to play games evening for a few hours waiting for kids to go to sleep and it passes those hours. With the games above you need a free day and time to play them and have a gap that's not weeks apart
@OMG_Waffles not to push you over the edge 😁, but Dishonored 2 is amazing.
@Leon_93 Lore wise not the best in the series but its still a great game in its own right. A hell of lot of content at that price too and its 60fps which DS3/Bloodborne/Sekiro aren't
@Nakatomi_Uk I really enjoyed the outer worlds, but it depends on taste tbh. Its not as long as most traditional RPGs and the humour is really well done In my opinion, but I always recommend watching some videos before purchasing anything anyway.
@Robocod Don't know if you've got a Switch, but I picked up Blazing Chrome on sale for 7 quid recently, so it might be worth keeping an eye out on the eshop there.
@Daleaf Dragon Quest XI is a quality game. I enjoyed it so much more than Persona 5.
@ApostateMage cheers m8, will defo get it either after finishing p5 or after last of us 2 depending on how long it takes to beat. If it's better than p5 then that is saying something.
@get2sammyb yeah, that game was severely underrated.
@Flurpsel It’s tough but I managed to beat Dishonored 2 without being detected. Do you like stealth games?
Dishonored 1 and 2 and dragon quest 11 are 2 of the greatest games of all times.word up son
@Nakatomi_Uk Just to give you a heads up, The Outer Wilds is on sale, not The Outer Worlds. Totally different game- good but definitely not an RPG
As a big fan of Telltale Games I’ve been eyeing up The Council for a while - looks like it’s in a similar vein. At £6.19 for the complete season, this looks like a steal. While I’m sure it won’t live up to Tales From The Borderlands I’m hoping it will satisfy my craving
anyone played monkey king
They do really want my money. There's already plenty of discounts tempting me in the current Big in Japan sale, and now there's a few more tantalising discounts.
I’m definitely picking up Kentucky Route Zero, and maybe What Remains of Edith Finch too.
@playstation1995 Agree on DQ11, one of the best classic jrpg I ever played. Here's hoping they will patch the additional stuff from the switch version like FF12 recently.
@Breekhead
If you haven't tries Edith Finch, it is highly recommended. It is truly a touching game.
Kentucky Route Zero has been on my radar ever since the Push Square review. I'll be picking that one up myself, backlog be damned.
@glassmusic Loved that game. Bought it on Switch and have the soundtrack too!
@Leon_93. No doubt playa.word up son
@ShaiHulud Unfortunately no-hence why after having had at least a couple sales for Blazing Chrome already for it,its been a tad disappointing there hasn't been a similar ps4 one yet.
@Rob_230 Yep, haven't had a play of either myself,but a buddy of mine has them,he quite enjoyed them for what they are-its just when I have a dozen plus indies I'm keen on ranging from $28-$30AU min. to others like River City Girls being up to $50 I need to wait on the sales too!
@Micwg Its worth it. Episodes 1-3 are very good.
@DrJames - good to know, thanks. At that price I figured I couldn’t go too far wrong!
@get2sammyb yeah but I dont play a lot of them. Splinter Cell was great back in the days, and if I play something like Far Cry I usually play as sneaky as possible. I also played a little bit of Deus Ex but that allways felt a bit clunky.
Maybe I'll give it one more go someday..
@get2sammyb I don't see Hitman 2 there...
Last day of the sale. A Plague Tale, Divinity Original Sin 2 or Far Cry 5? Decisions, decisions.
@lacerz Thanks man! Yeah I caved and added both to the backlog.. at the moment I’m obsessed with Stranded Deep and probably looking at starting Firewatch soon.
Have you played The Long Dark? I’m trying to convince myself to hold off til it’s on sale but it looks like fun.
Btw is that Moebius or Frazetta?
@Breekhead
I have not played The Long Dark, but I'll take a look at it.
The artist is Ralph Bakshi from his movie Wizards. He went on to make the animated The Lord of the Rings. I am a big fan of Frank Frazetta though.
@lacerz Ah that makes sense! I haven’t watched Wizards but I know Bakshi did a movie with Frazetta called Fire & Ice.
Apologies if I’d added more to your backlog haha
@get2sammyb Felt satisfying eh? Beating the game without getting detected. Makes a change from "kill all the bad guys to the end" regular story. That's the magic of Dishonored. Well you can do that in Deus Ex too but it's not as satisfying.
@Daleaf
It's amazing! Very simple and not an overly complex but it scratches all the right places! Plus it's a looker and I'm loving the soundtrack! I'd call it a modern classic! It's most definitely the turn base RPG I needed!
@Daleaf
You did good picking up persona 5 it's probably one of the best JRPGS to release this gen. It's loaded with content to the point that it becomes almost overwhelming!
@OMG_Waffles will defo give dq a go soon, yea loving p5 think the school bit put me off buying it before, but saw it for 12 quid on store and decided to bite, going to be playing it all day today I think. I'll probably pick up dq as well while it's on sale and just download it ready 😀
