Update: Chippin' In is now available on Spotify as well. Search for the song and you should find it.
Original story: Okay, this is pretty cool. CD Projekt Red has joined forces with Swedish rock band Refused in order to create original music for Cyberpunk 2077. Utilising the band's musical style, the developer wants to bring in-universe rock group SAMURAI to life. That's the band that Johnny Silverhand -- Keanu Reeve's character -- was the frontman of.
We actually got our first taste of this original music during Cyberpunk 2077's cinematic E3 trailer. The song that you can hear right at the end is a track called 'Chippin' In', and CD Projekt Red has released the whole thing via YouTube. You can listen to it in full above.
"Cooperation with the acclaimed Swedish punk rock formation involves writing, recording, and producing an EP featuring the greatest hits of SAMURAI, with creative direction provided by CD Projekt Red’s composer team headed by Marcin Przybyłowicz. Tracks born from the partnership include ones both heavily inspired by the original source material, as well as original tracks created by the band exclusively for Cyberpunk 2077," reads the press release.
Refused vocalist Dennis Lyxzén sounds pretty hyped about the opportunity too, saying: “Like us, SAMURAI is a group of rebels, albeit in a different time and place. Working together with CD Projekt Red, writing music and song lyrics for Cyberpunk’s chrome rock icon was fun, but also very different in the creative sense. It was an unexpected challenge that turned out to be right up our alley and really got us going. The songs turned out great and the game looks insane.” Hopefully we get to hear more tracks soon.

Something tells me the Cyberpunk 2077 soundtrack is going to be pretty good.
That title had me a bit confused, I read it as in that they refused to make original music for the game 😂
I thought the band refused to make original music for the game..
Not bad, reminds me a lot of Rage against the Machine. Which kinda fits now I think on it, what with it playing at the end of the Matrix and considering the actor who plays Neo..
I had to reread that title a few times. That music is fine, it'll fit in well with the game.
This is the track that Keanu entered the stage to at E3. Good stuff. I prefer the version of Chippin' In played in V's apartment in the first gameplay demo, though.
Start drunken reminisce: Ah, that takes me back to so many gigs. I used to roadie back in the day y'know. Got to roadie for some pretty big bands in the end. Wishbone Ash, Soft Machine, Santana. Mahavishnu Orchestra, stints in Abbey road. Mc'Cartly. Time to crack open anothre norttle. Oh, Lou Reed
Sounds good to me.
Title should of been worded better as it has everyone confused
Saw these guys with Deftones a few years back. Crazy! He'd give Scorpion a run for his money the way he whips the mic around. Never seen anything like it.
@wiiware @crimsontadpoles @Amusei @suikoden Blame the band lads
Refused's third main studio release was a landmark album called The Shape of Punk to Come on Burning Heart and Epitaph Records, which had a big impact in 1998.
There is a 2003 list online, re-published by Discogs, where Kerrang! has The Shape Of Punk To Come in 13th place amongst The 50 Most Influential Albums of All Time – just above Operation Ivy's album, Energy, as a little tidbit for any punk fans.
Refused didn't record any more albums for 17 years, so there was a lot of expectation when Freedom released as their fourth studio album on Epitaph in 2015.
I don't think they could ever live up to this hype, but I still enjoyed Freedom as a hard and heavy rock record, so I put it in 10th place on the alternative rock side of my Best 2015 Punk and Alternative Rock Albums Push Square forum topic, although I wouldn't necessarily categorise Refused as a hardcore band with this album.
I'm really excited to read this news that Refused will be contributing original music for Cyberpunk 2077. I think that their riff heavy, driven sound will be a great fit for Cyberpunk, and it is cool that a band from Umeå in Sweden is working with Poland's CD Projekt Red, because the two countries are close enough to cross with a six hour ferry.
Happy too read i was not the only one confused. 😆
@Neolit @suikoden @BridgeToClarity @crimsontadpoles @wiiware @Amusei @Flaming_Kaiser
Right, you bunch of pedantic gits. I've updated the story (the song's now on Spotify) and I've changed the headline. I hope you're happy.
(Thanks for the feedback, though, seriously)
@Neolit You're absolutely right. This has happened several times and makes zero sense. They save, what? a second?
(and of course this isn't a pushsquare only thing)
@ShogunRok That's alright, I didn't mean it in a bad way ^^ I just thought it was kinda funny.
Honestly thought that Refused were more well known than the comments lead me to believe. The Shape of Punk to Come was seminal!
