Despite the launch of several new titles last week, it's EA's ANTHEM that takes number one in the latest UK chart. It may be facing problems, but the sci-fi shooter is atop the chart for the second week in a row, once again holding off the likes of FIFA 19 and Far Cry: New Dawn.
New releases haven't done too badly, though. The LEGO Movie 2 Videogame debuts at number four, while DiRT Rally 2.0 crosses the line in sixth and Trials Rising just manages a top 10 start. Further down, Dead or Alive 6 opens at number 21. Looking purely at physical sales, the game has vastly underperformed when compared to Dead or Alive 5, but we imagine digital sales will make up at least part of that difference.
Here's the latest top 10 in full.
UK Sales Charts: Week Ending 2nd March, 2019
- ANTHEM
- FIFA 19
- Far Cry: New Dawn
- The LEGO Movie 2 Videogame
- Red Dead Redemption 2
- DiRT Rally 2.0
- Metro: Exodus
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
- Trials Rising

Wonder where those digital sales are they mentioned they would start releasing earlier this year...
I bet the publishers of the 'new' releases aren't overly pleased. Beaten by a game that 'everyone' is slating and must be 'awful' based on its metacritic score, a game released nearly 6months ago and a game that's been out for several weeks that is basically a 'copy and paste' of the last game.
I bet Digital sales won't have made much difference either. Its not as if the other games won't of sold any games digitally in the same time period to radically change their chart position. Without any 'data' you can't assume that the percentage of 'digital' purchases will of made up the deficit either. Its not as if there isn't any fighting games that aren't as sexist, better and don't have extortionately high Season Pass prices - ยฃ74/$93!!!
Maybe its because everyone is waiting for DMCv or the Division 2.
It was a serious marketing error not getting Good Charlotte to advertise for them.
Well a 71% drop means that Anthem did just over 12k physical in its second week.
Pretty slow moving week if it held on to the top spot.
Pretty poor sales all round then judging by Anthem still being number 1, maybe everyone thinks it's a new FIFA because they changed the box ๐
I just cant wait for Days Gone previews. I hope PushSquare got one
Anthems just keeping Dantes spot warm ๐
UK chart is irrelevant again.
@JJ2 We do.
You really have some bad blood against dead or alive donโt you?
The cut was March 2nd and the game released on March 1st which they are only counting pre sales from retailers that actually share pre sales (unlike amazon).
FUN, was that ever in question when reviewing anthem? If you can handle all the problems with anthem and play it anyway, it is actually quite fun.
I'll be trading Anthem towards DMC this Friday. Nothing against those enjoying it, but just not really pulling me back in. I had alot more fun with The Division 2 beta, just more my style I guess!
@munkondi I love the metro series, I was introduced to it just over a year ago by a friend. You can pick up the first 2 really cheap, so please every e have a go
@El_cochinote
I don't think they have anything against DoA, just reporting numbers, which are not good and I'm not surprised. There are others in the media who keep screaming the game is 'sexist,' which I don't think it is but that's part of the chatter that doesn't help when you add it to a bigger concern which is the absurdity of a $90+ season pass with no option to buy items or characters individually. And then there was the game's pre-release PR which was absolutely horrendous. Going on a 'woke' tour to appease moronic Western gaming 'journalists' and the Evo crowd which has never liked DoA while crapping on your fanbase that has supported the series for over two decades isn't exactly marketing genius.
