One of the most surprising announcements to come out of last night's Nintendo Direct was for a brand new free-to-play Tetris title. It's called Tetris 99, and pits 99 online players against each other in a battle royale style free for all. It sounds bonkers, and it kind of is, but it genuinely looks like a great (T-) spin on the popular shooter genre. You can see it in action in the above clip.
It's exclusive to Nintendo Switch, but that didn't stop some very strange rumours from emerging. A Twitter account calling itself @tetris99game claims to the be "official" account for the new title, and it states Tetris 99 is available now on Nintendo's platform (which is true) and PlayStation Portable (which isn't). Yes, that's right -- it claimed the game is available to download on your trusty old PSP right now, and that's just a load of rubbish.

Again, officially the game is, exclusive to the Switch, so don't expect it to appear on PS4, Vita, or indeed, PSP. We're not sure how this rumour gained any traction whatsoever, but it can be safely put to bed.

Lol, the internet is undefeated. This is great!
Not port begging or bitter, but i would genuinely rather play the beautiful tetris effect in vr anyday. However this does look alot of fun. Seen some really dismissive comments online about this game, but it looks genuinely fun and an interesting take on the genre. Would absolutely give it a go on my psp...or any other portable sony platform that may or may not exist...
Just typical... once again Sony and publishers take a massive ploppy poop on the PSP by not porting a current gen game over to an obsolete console. Sony is doomed.

Just bought a PSP for this. I feel deceived!
Not just a Switch exclusive, it's only available to Online subscribers to boot. Yet by all means, simultaneously available to download on a console that hasn't had a functioning PS Store app for years now. Pass me more popcorn.

Who'd have thought Tetris would still be a pretty big thing in 2019. Tetris Effect is brilliant, and Puyo-Puyo Tetris a few years ago was solid too.
I can't tell if this person is legitimately trying to trick people into thinking this is the real Tetris 99 account, or if it's just a parody, but I'm entertained either way.
