There's a hot exploit doing the rounds in Destiny 2: Forsaken that allows players to gain Prime Engrams at a dramatically increased rate. The weapons and armour that you acquire from said engrams is usually an improvement over whatever you have equipped, and once you're past the soft power level cap of 500, Prime Engrams are your main source of beefing up your Guardian. However, they're dished out rather sparingly, mostly as rewards for completing daily and weekly challenges.
So naturally, you may think that acquiring a lot of these engrams at a much faster pace is a desirable, but Bungie has warned players not to make use of the exploit. "Acquiring large amounts of Prime Engrams in a short timeframe reduces the frequency in which you earn Prime Engrams as you continue to play the game," the developer explains.
"Some players who have used this exploit heavily may find that Prime Engrams will not appear for the next two to three weeks."
In other words, using this exploit basically means that you're going to run out of meaningful things to do in Destiny 2 for long periods of time, as you'll have already collected all the rewards that you're owed.
"As such, this will provide a very small short-term gain for those using this exploit, but have negative long-term effects for a player’s power progression. We are investigating a fix for this exploit. In the meantime, we highly recommend that players do not use this exploit," Bungie continues. It concludes: "Players who are earning Prime Engrams while playing through the game naturally will not be impacted by this issue in any form."
Given that many Destiny players are almost always complaining about not having enough content to keep them busy, it seems a bit daft to ruin the pace of the game with this exploit. Probably not worth it, eh?

I’m not sure how I feel about them punishing players for their (Bungie’s) mistakes.
I ran the raid chest exploit a few times, got some interesting gear but definitely nothing worth writing home about. Weird how they left the chests able to be opened in the first place.....
ya know what was a bad idea bungo? hiding and being deceitful about xp gains, that's a bad idea champs. willing to bet they literally have no idea how this exploit is happening and the punishment is complete BS
@Jaz007 you're right, it's a little pathetic
Bungie can't win 😂
Give em a break chaps.
That begs the question, why is the ''exploit'' in the game to begin with if the devs don't want you using it?
@Jaz007
Don’t know if I read I different to everyone else commenting. I didn’t think they’d punish you but you were getting everything in on go so there’d be nothing the rest of the week. Pretty good if you don’t like grinding and want to get on with other games once you have everything first day.
@gingerfrog yeah not really punishing is it? You just get it early then have to wait until it resets.
"...you're going to run out of meaningful things to do in Destiny 2 for long periods of time..."
Now where I have heard that before?
Poor old Destiny 2, actually I'm quite excited to give it a proper go now its PS+ freebie, what with all the documented changes.
Wow took them less then a week for the usual Bungie failings to come out. Seems a lot of praise coming for Forsaken at the moment but was the same for Destiny 2 on release the real test will be what people are saying in 3 - 4 weeks time.
"The weapons and armour that you acquire from said engrams is usually an improvement over whatever you have equipped, and once you're past the soft power level cap of 500"
That's PASSED the soft power level... are your editors really so poor that they miss a mistake my 11 year old daughter caught?
@bindiana I am reluctant to buy Forsaken for this very reason. There are no measured opinions any more, it's all hype to the maximum and then tear it apart when people realise it isn't as good as they initially thought. This is partly Bungies fault but it's also gamers (especially reviewers) fault for hyping the shite out of everything before they know anything about it.
@Octane Thats a stupid question. There are a lot more games with exploits. They need to patch it out. But who cares its a boring game anyway. 😜
@MartinJames Wow, did you really just write this comment?
@MartinJames Except you're wrong, aren't you Martin?
Who cares? You already have the people's money which is all Bungie odvously cares about so just let them play however they want.
@get2sammyb I did a bit of digging around about adverbs, prepositions, past tenses and verbs and ... stuff. Still no idea if past or passed is correct in this instance. If I'm honest I'd find a good explanation more educational and possibly more interesting than anything Bungie has released since 2014. (Burn).
The nerve of this developer.
@Octane They're too lazy to test their games. The first Destiny had quite a few exploits as well.
