Bandai Namco has proudly announced that Dragon Ball FighterZ is doing especially well for itself. The team-based brawler launched near the end of last month, and it's already shipped over two million copies worldwide -- a figure that includes digital sales.
The title entered the UK charts in second place earlier this week, only beaten by the, er, monsterous Monster Hunter: World. Still, FighterZ's initial success means that it's actually the fastest-selling Dragon Ball game of all time.
A well deserved result as far as we're concerned. In our 9/10 review, we called FighterZ "pretty much the best anime fighting game ever made".

Just started playing it tonight, completing quest and earning zeny. The game's looks good, playing this game is like watching and playing the anime itself.
All my gaming time is being dominated by Monster Hunter World & DBFighterZ.
It's great to see both of these games set franchise records, despite releasing on the same day.
Dissidia is going to bomb though.
Another great result for a Japanese game. Gonna get this for my birthday.
I'm still reading this as Dragon Ball Fighter Zee. I can't mentally undo it.
@Fight_Teza_Fight Dissidia isn't going to bomb don't forget it has already been out in Japan a while (where it made the top of the weekly sales list in it's launch week) and is apparently doing well over here too (although numbers haven't been released yet), not to mention the Japanese arcade version is still going strong
just because MH and DBZ is taking up all your time doesn't mean that it's the same for everyone else
I'm hoping to get it soon. I'm glad it's a success too. Does this also mean it's ArcSys' fastest selling game too?
@FullbringIchigo There doesn't seem to be a lot of interest surrounding Dissidia. There are very few reviews out there despite the game being out for a couple of days now.
The game didn't sell great in Japan either, but that's partly do it being in arcades already.
Who knows what the numbers will be.
@3MonthBeef Darn, you beat me to it. I'm surprised it wasn't said already though.
Pretty good considering it came out the same day as MH! I'll pick it up on a sale later
@Fight_Teza_Fight doesn't mean it's going to bomb, for Square it was a relatively cheap game to produce as they already had the PS4 build made because the Dissidia arcade runs on PS4 hardware, very little was needed to be done, apart from translation and the added story mode of course and about the reviews i don't think Square sent out review copies, at least i haven't heard of any being sent out so if that's the case of course there wont be many out yet but i think Square are happy with how it's doing, most FF fans are happy with it (i am) and as long as it makes a decent profit they it will be a success and i'm sure it will
did coming out near Monster Hunter help it, probably not but remember it's not how many are sold in the first week that makes it a success to the publishers they take many months of sales into account
I'm actually really surprised by that, I would've thought xenoverse 2 sold quicker. It just seemed to have a broader target audience, but apparently the fighting community has come out in force to support this. I'm all for it.
I love so much that you use Burter for the cover picture of this article.
@FullbringIchigo I have it at home already.
@Flaming_Kaiser Dissidia or FighterZ? or both, i got both but i'm playing Dissidia more at the moment i must admit
It's hit the sweet spot of being both Dragon Ball and also a game made to be a good game first, fan service second. I love DB and the games based on it, but you don't expect a genuinely good game that would stand on its own without the license normally. Xenoverse, Budokai, Budokai Tenkaichi... None of them would have sold without the DB characters and setting. This would still have done well regardless - not as well, but well.
It's ridiculous to imagine Xenoverse being an EVO game, but this is a certain appearance. It's totally dethroned MvC (which was dying anyway due to the crappiness of the most recent one) and is potentially going to take over SFV and other big hitters in pro circles.
