There’s a new House of the Dead game being location tested in Japanese arcades, and SEGA is surveying fans about the possibility of a console port. Entitled Scarlet Dawn and set three years after House of the Dead 4, the title sees you wielding Uzis to off the undead, and appears to have the title’s trademark atrocious “voice acting” intact.
And according to a ResetEra member who posted photos of the cabinet, the Japanese publisher is quizzing fans on whether they’d be interested in a console version upon trying the title out. To be fair, various House of the Dead games – including the ridiculous Nintendo Wii title Overkill – ended up on the PlayStation 3, so this doesn’t seem out of the realm of possibility.
It’d be interesting to see how SEGA would handle a console port should it go ahead with it. A game like this seems like a natural fit for PlayStation VR, but obviously the arcade version has been built with a traditional display in mind, so a virtual reality conversion would be unlikely. It’d have to at least be compatible with PlayStation Move, though, right? Otherwise, what’s the point?

I've bought these games multiple times.
I'd only buy them again if they created it in VR.
I'm praying for a lot of old light gun games to be remade for VR.
POINT BLANK!
@SoulChimera This is a new one, though.
I've been wanting a VR remake of Overkill for years, but this is still good.
I want other titles from Sega first, but I may get it since I got 2&3 and Overkill.
They should do Zombie Revenge instead.
Oh boy if this was VR I would buy day one. Loved these in the arcade and on the Wii.
Blue State works pretty good with motion sensing on the DS4. Obviously with move or VR it could get better, but I think a lot of us would buy the game to play with DS4 and would never buy a move or PSVR.
@jmbenetti I think VR with the gun would ben way cooler then the DS4.
@get2sammyb I don't know how I miss read most of the article. Clearly half asleep haha. Sorry.
In any case, they need to bring it (and the old ones) to VR.
What with the norm being 55'' to 65'' 4K screens in the next few years, be quite happy if this came with a simple old school light gun to play it. Not played a light gun game since I had a 24 incher! (HotD 1 on my fat Xbox original I believe).
Or just bring back Streets of Rage!
Come on Sega you can do it!
@themcnoisy
I’ll sign up to your campaign for streets of rage if you’ll back me with thunder force 4 remake. Much like the Dariusburst game on ps4
@gingerfrog Deal. Thats a great deal as well! I never got on with Thunderforce crazily due to the sprite flickering and slowdown. Loads of people liked it but I had an arcade down the road with 1945 and a bunch of classics and a shooter on the Amiga which was like Gradius but I can never remember its name. Either way I would be nassively happy to see Thunder force 4 remade with 3000 levels minus the flicker.
VR or bust for this game!
