God of War doesn't have a confirmed release date yet, but it is supposed to be launching in the first half of 2018. Thankfully, it seems as though development is currently on track, because Game Informer have revealed that the PlayStation 4 exclusive will adorn the cover of their February issue.
Naturally, this means that we can look forward to plenty of fresh information regarding Kratos' highly anticipated adventure -- and it's about time. We've been treated to a number of gameplay videos and trailers over the last few years, but nothing we've seen has ever really been too in-depth.
Game Informer says that they've actually played God of War themselves, so we can expect details on various elements like combat, exploration, and just about everything in between.
Are you ready to hear more about God of War, or are you saving yourself for its launch? Watch where you're throwing that axe in the comments section below.

Can't wait to find out more about this. Seems like the campaign's properly going to kick in now.
Game of the year if Red Dead Redemption doesn't come out?
I'm out of things to say about this game. I just want to play it so bad.
i want play it so bad beside Days Gone, RDR 2 and Spider-Man
Really looking forward to learning more about this game. Everything I've seen so far has looked great.
Do hope release date news is coming soon. I understand wanting to make sure it’s absolutely ready after being given hard times about delays before but I’d think they’d know of a concrete date by now.
So will they be providing impressions on the gameplay, or just providing more details on it and the game itself?
Dont tell my anything more but the release date!!
@lacerz Impressions, too, I imagine?
unleashed the true beast.meat is come out and playyyyyyyyy.the man.the icon.the legend is back.PlayStation best franchise is coming.word up son in march
@AFCC I love red dead redemption too.but God of war is PlayStation best franchise ever.and it's going to be a blast.word up son
It’s the babysitting sim with monsters. Sweet.
I'm actually kinda skeptical a release date will be revealed come next month. You'd think Sony would of dropped that info at Paris or PSX by now, but they've been keeping a pretty tight lip.
What an amazing cover, can't wait for God of War.
I don't want any more info; I just want to play it for myself!
I’m ready.
Really surprised this hasn't received a release date yet considering it's slated for an early 2018 release. They've run out of big events to reveal the release date at in that case so maybe they end their game informer campaign with a trailer and release date?
@AFCC GOTY even if RDR 2 comes out.
@Th3solution Maybe the kid is more badass then you know. Ellie was great in the Last of Us and even helpfull at points.
@Flaming_Kaiser Maybe. I actually quite like the NPC companion play that has been popularized by Naughty Dog .... Joel/Ellie and then Nate/Sam and then Chloe/Nadine. (Although the technique has been used for a long time, see Ratchet & Clank / Jak & Daxter etc etc, but it’s much more refined in recent games)
It makes for good conversation between two characters and a natural way to build a story when the two can talk back and forth as they explore and combat enemies. I like it when they make part of the game you can play as the other character too, which I would guess GoW will do with this kid. At some point in the game he’ll have to crawl through a hole to pull a lever or something, I’m sure.
It’s just funny because the early gameplay shown makes it seem like Kratos is being the good Dad, taking him out because it’s his court appointed weekend to have the kid.
“Alright son, let’s take you out on your first hunt. Then you gotta go back to your mom’s and go to school on Monday”
I might actually pick up an issue. That cover does look fantastic.
@PS_Nation best PlayStation franchise ever word up son
@AFCC To be honest, it will be difficult to take away the goty of RDR 2, being a multiplatform release is a major factor, sadly.
Anyway, The Last of Us won more goty awards than GTA V in 2013, also Uncharted 4 knocked Overwatch counting all the awards, so who knows.
What I’m ready for is the release date. Getting sick of the run around and silence regarding Sony’s 1st party games.
Appears sort of generic from what I've seen. Kratos was never a character I enjoyed (probably written that way), and it seems they just wrote him as a gruff man haunted by his past. Which has already been done several times before. Somewhat bland, albeit the combat seems decent.
Perhaps there will be a twist, but right now I'm indifferent to it.
@Flaming_Kaiser Will be hard! The hype/love for Rockstar games is insane!
@playstation1995 I'm happy if they both become great games!
@PS_Nation Red Dead Redemption is one of my all time favorites (better than any GTA) and I'm sure this one will be great!
Cant wait!!! I have a feeling it will release in late april early may.😁
@Th3solution I loved Ellie when she bricked a enemy in the back of the head. But then again i loved Ellie the whole game she was a lot of fun the ending was epic. With GOW3 while the game was epic i really disliked Kratos near the end the amounts of helpless people he killed was a big letdown for me personally.
I have not been this excited about a God of War game since ever.
