Well, isn't that just great? In a move that's exactly what you want from your store of choice just days before Fallout 4's release, there are reports that GAME is cancelling some pre-orders of the title's Pip-Boy Edition.
The deluxe edition of the game has become something of a phenomenon, having completely sold out not too long after it was revealed. In other words, you'd have to be unfathomably lucky to find one now – especially this close to launch day.
The UK retailer apparently says that payment processing is at fault, with incomplete transactions leading to cancellation. Customers are insisting that their accounts are in perfect working condition, however, hinting that this could be some sort of technical problem on GAME's side of things. Whatever it is, it doesn't look good, does it?
Have you had any problems with your pre-order? Have a rant in the comments section below.
Update: GAME has since stated on Twitter that all Pip-Boy Edition pre-orders are 'safe', meaning that they won't be sold to anyone else. Those who have pre-ordered will apparently receive an email in the next 48 hours, providing an update on their order. Hopefully it all goes smoothly from here, eh?

This seems to happen with GAME a lot. If the transaction doesn't go through, you should be given at least 24 hours to contact your bank or go to a store before the order is cancelled. That's what most retailers do...
Yea one of my youtubers I watch tweeted about it saying they messed up his pipboy edition he seemed pretty pissed
@get2sammyb ive never even heard about them
and here is another reason i no longer use that POS chain #WorstUKVideoGameRetailer
@SKC_Diamond GAME? It's basically GameStop in the UK.
GAME are a complete set of useless idiots anyone who pre orders anything from them is wrong in the head, and there pricing is a joke £59.99 for Taken King or £40 in the supermarket
And people wonder why everyone buys there games from Amazon or gamecollection
@get2sammyb I had serious issues with this with Gamestop when I first bought my PS4. My bank had blocked the payment deeming it unusual activity without actually checking with me first, but they then needed Gamestop to re-request the payment in order for it to go through (once a blocked payment has been confirmed as legit activity they apparently can't just push the existing payment request on to completion, rather the bank just remove the blocker so it'll be allowed next time the payment request is made).
Gamestop refused to do this, and made me cancel the order and put a new one through. It sounds like that's what happened here on a wider scale, as I heard Game were cancelling "duplicate orders", which I guess is what it would look like in that situation.
It's ridiculous though, as they should be able to clearly see the first order was never processed to completion, and recognise that it isn't actually a duplicate after all.
@get2sammyb oh ok were I live we have eb games witch was brought by GameStop
@get2sammyb "your store of choice"
AFAIK, the Pip-boy edition was a GAME exclusive in the UK. So if you wanted to get the Pip-boy Ed., (without importing in any case), you didn't have a choice.
I don't live or shop in the UK but GAME sure does seem to be in the news a lot for all the wrong reasons.
It's good to be a monopoly I guess. Gamestop has it's share of knowledgeable employees and seemingly high prices, but they don't seem to have as many out and out screw-ups. I mean, it's not entirely their fault Ntinedo let them have XC as an exclusive, allowing them to charge $80 for new copies as used. That's on Nintendo.
Good luck for all the people who miss out. I have the XCX collectors edition coming next month, but I trust Amazon not to mess it up. And if Nintnedo messes it up Amazon is likely to give me a large discount on the regular edition, so I'll survive.
I received an email to confirm they were processing my order but they still haven't taken any money yet, I'm paying via PayPal so should be fine. Why they don't allow pre pay I don't know. I would also suggest that most people should pay via PayPal and load their account prior, saves any bs.
Limited edition or not, people need to stop buying stuff from GAME then they wouldn't get these exclusives in the first place! Terrible store, refuse to give them my money.
@Cron_13 I agree havnt brought anything from them in years, there preowned prices are a joke! Really don't understand why people preorder from them as they are always way more expensive.
This has happened to me and I'm really discussed. When I originally placed my order I used my debit card linked to my PayPal to pay where the deposit for fallout club was taken out. Since then my card was damaged so I had it cancelled and a new one from my bank. With the run up to assassins creed syndicate which was on the same order I phoned game up to change my payment details and they put me on a call back list. They then called me back the next day on my landline while I was in work and left a voice mail saying they would then phone up again.
A couple days past and I received an email saying my assassins creed had been cancelled on the order. Lucky for me the edition I wanted was not sold out and I was able to play the order again to receive it on release date.
After that event I phone game up again and told them I don't want the same to happen again as pipboy edition is sold out so wanted to change my payment details urgently. I even game the girl my mobile number to call me on.
The following day I get another voicemail to my landline while at work saying that my mobile number wasn't working (meaning the girl didn't update it or she wrote it down wrong) and that they will call back the next day to sort it out.
I then get in touch with game on the online chat after four days where I stressed how upset I was with the lack of service and how I don't want my order to do cancelled. The person I spoke to promised me that game will call me 3 times (another two) before they cancel my order and I even game him my new mobile number where there was no way to get it wrong is it was wrote down already.
So I wait for me phone call and I wait and then I get an email telling me my order has been cancelled and I need to call them to replace the order. Now I'm annoyed and I want results... I phone them, and phone then and phone them, for hours I have been trying but I'm yet to talk to someone as their online chat and customer service call like are both unavailable.
I only use GAME if I really have no other choice. Why would I pay £55 - £59,99 with them when I can pay £40-£45 at Tesco. I only use GAME to trade and then I make sure to price match with CEX.
@WARDIE out of interest why don't you just use CEX? - one not local to you? I tend to use Amazon, The Game Collection, Simply Games (though I think I'm going to stop using them now they've switched to PayPal only(?)) and CEX. I trade for voucher and then wait a few weeks from release, they aren't too bad (unless you buy the day its out), but I picked up Tearaway unfolded for just £22 from them the week of release).
@Cron_13 I use GAME to trade when CEX don't have the game in stock. I also get reward points from GAME in the rare case that I use them.
@WARDIE ah ok, fair enough
I've used the online service from CEX a few times. They charge a fee of £2.50 but I've been impressed with how quick I got my order, and its only one charge of £2.50 regardless of how many items. Something to consider if you want something they don't have
I'm pretty lucky, there are two fairly close to me and both are "large" stores, so seem to usually have everything I want within a week or two.
@Cron_13 I have two stores near me in Leicester, but I didn't realise they delivered items. May have to check that service out. Thanks for the heads up mate
@SKC_Diamond EB Games is GameStop.... It's owned by the same company.
@WARDIE Yeah its really easy, and you can use your voucher codes - multiple ones too and stack them. If you go over the value of your voucher you can just pay the extra with a card, or if you are under the voucher(s) then they email a pdf of the difference as a voucher - works really well. Used it a few times myself - though its been rare they don't have what I want.
I used to eBay all my old games i'd finished, but if you work out what you pay on postage, packaging, fees and the some of the cretins that use eBay then its so much less hassle to use CEX.
@Cron_13 Yeah sounds pretty good. Deffo gonna try it out. Thanks mate.
Half of their staff clearly dont even play games, you cant even ask their opinions or have a chat about games your thinking about getting. Gamestation are owned by them, yet they are much more knowledgeable & helpful in-store. Same with CEX, they are gamers. Nah, I never buy from GAME..
@WARDIE no probs mate! I didn't know myself until someone else told me about it I tended only to use their website to check their prices, never looked into the online stock (shows you how many they have in stock when you click on a game - not the ones at a store).
@GlynCR agreed, read they wanted £55 for the new NFS reboot. Get real. And I thought psn prices were high. Actually fallout 4 is £49.99 on psn wonder how much it is in store at game? Either way, game really are on the highest priced retailers for video games.. Not to wish loads to enter unemployment. But really game, you didn't deserve to come back after almost bankruptcy.. Poor show.
UPDATE
We've updated the article with GAME's latest tweets.
There will be stock day one for sure, I know so many people that cancelled their pre order after they've seen the unboxing. I don't know what it is they've expected, but here in Holland scalpers will have a bad time.
@iv-tecman it'll be £55 at least in GAME, I guy I know went on to pick up his Blops3 today and it was £55 he asked why it was £10 more than the supermarket and they said cos there's a map (a map, single, 1) bundled with it, are they for real?
@GlynCR @iv-tecman on their website it was £39.99 or £44.99 for the steelbook and you get a bobblehead. In store it may be different. They will always cost more than the supermarket as they (the supermarkets) don't have to make a profit on them where as for Game that is their business, and the console makers need these game shops hence why they get all the special editions.
My pip boy edition and steel book edition (long story) have both been processed and I already have one bobblehead and the vault boy t-shirt
I didn't preorder the Pipboy edition but I did pre-order the steelbook edition from GAME. They cancelled my preorder a couple of days ago but for some reason took out just £8.18 from my bank account a week ago. No idea what's going on there. I re-preordered it from Amazon now, anyway.
@FaultyDroid I've found most store staff have no idea what they are talking about. I once had a guy trying to talk me into buying an x1 - I mean was he taking the pi double snakes? Who would do that? Even Microsoft don't try anymore.
Try this line next time your in Game " I Cant wait for Xcom on Vita - I've played too much geometry wars three and need a change from my wipeout 2048 fix - so what's your advice?"
Stock Response
"Errr well we have 5 copies of FIFA 14 and some Lego games....."
To be fair CEX are really bad too - try asking for an anime film and its like you've asked the assistant if you can sleep with his or her mum.
Ive had my email from GAME saying my order is being processed but no paypal payment has been taken. On the plus side i have received my freebie Vault 111 T shirt and pipboy bobble head
Mine was cancelled. I tried all day to get in touch with no luck. They emailed me to ask me to email them my contact details so they could contact me about it by phone, with a preference of time for the call. I got no call, and am still waiting over a day later. This isn't the first time GAME have screwed up royally, and that's why I hardly ever use them. I hope this teaches publishers and developers to avoid giving GAME exclusivity they really don't deserve.
This seems to be par for the course now for GAME. They manage to wangle a limited edition exclusive so you've no choice but to pay full RRP for something you'd save 10% or more on if you were able to.
Then they balls up the sale, blaming it on the customer and their payment methods.
Never been impressed by the company, and I used to work for them!
