PS4 PlayStation 4 Firmware Update 3.00

Firmware update days have become significant events in the PlayStation Nation, with big refreshes attracting significant attention to the system. Brace yourself for 30th September, then, as after an extensive beta testing period, Sony has announced that system software v3.00 – codenamed 'Kenshin' – will deploy on the PlayStation 4.

This is an absolutely gigantic update, spanning everything from entirely new applications all the way through to user interface improvements and enhancements. The headline feature this time around is probably the upgrade to 10GB of PlayStation Plus cloud storage, which should solve all of your auto-upload woes. Sharing video clips to Twitter and PNG screenshots should also be welcome.

But that's absolutely not all: the Events application will allow you to keep track of major activities occurring in the games that you play, while the Communities feature will enable you to build small social networks around your favourite titles and the things that interest you. There'll also be a dedicated PlayStation Plus area added to the system, allowing you to seek out special offers and your free games with ease.

Last but not least, you'll now be able to stream your gameplay direct to YouTube, while various improvements have been made to the Live from PlayStation application, enabling you to access the very best content with ease. And just for fun, stickers have been added to the messaging application, featuring characters from Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, LittleBigPlanet 3, and more.

Check back to the site tomorrow because we'll have everything that you need to know about firmware update v3.00 in full detail.
