As part of your daily DriveClub bulletin, Evolution Studios has said that it will announce the release date of the game’s hotly anticipated PlayStation Plus version when it has “concrete information” to share. The first-party studio – which also apologised for the delay – added that while it’s now getting on top of the server bug that has marred the exclusive racer’s launch, it still has work to do.
“We can see that the majority of you can now get online, but we know that at peak times of the day it can still be hard to get connected, so we are still working to improve connectivity with every update to the servers,” a company spokesperson wrote on Facebook. “We will continue to keep you up to speed with the improvements that we make.”
Elsewhere, the Runcorn-based company shed a little more light on what actually went wrong with the title almost two weeks ago. “These connectivity issues stem from the same unforeseen server problem that we've been working to get on top of since we launched, and while we’re getting on top of the problem now, we’re still working around the clock to keep improving gameplay for you.”
Have you given up on the overdue arcade racer at this point, or are you enjoying the game despite the speed bumps that have impeded its launch? Honk your horn louder than everyone else in the comments section below.

I'm still waiting on it. Game still looks very fun and beautiful.
Im waiting on it unril a decent driving game comes along, then its bye bye DriveClub. Its been testing my patience.
So basically it won't be on ps+ anytime soon, what a let down
I get it at this point - if the servers still aren't totally stable for the current user base, the whole thing would fall apart in an instant with the massive influx of players they're likely to get when the PS+ version releases. Still a pain, but it's not like there's nothing else to be playing in the interim
I understand why they want to fix the servers before bringing out the ps+ edition, I mean I'm pretty sure if they release it now before fixing the servers it's just going to make it 100x worse.
“concrete information” = "reach sales goal"
Hopefully Sony learns from this not to promise PS+ games that aren't finished yet, but what they will probably learn is that they can sell 10 mil consoles w/ few games available by promising things like DriveClub, The Last Guardian, Uncharted 4 and The Order.
Kingdom Hearts 3 will be a launch title and free game for PS+ subscribers when PS5 launches
I hate to say it, but the ship has sailed for me. Don't get me wrong, I'll still download the Plus version it when it's available, but at one point I was pretty sure I'd upgrade to the full blown version, and now it's extremely unlikely. The problem is the delay has coincided with an amazing deal/pricing error for the Xbox One Forza Horizons bundle, which I picked up this weekend. I've only got the time to fully devote to one racing title, and what with Forza being both the more well received of the two and the one that worked it's way into my home first, it's looking like that's going to be the one I'll play.
Sorry Sony. You snoozed, you losed.
5 attempts over 15 minutes last night trying to connect to an online race. 2 weeks since launch and it's still broken.
Its gonna be available next month. There's a lotta people that bought a one month plus card just to play this game, so Sony made their money. So next month it is.
Sony should refund all PS plus subscribers who are signed up for October a one month refund (£5.99 PSN credit). That in my opinion is a reasonable compromise. To offer nothing, which is a possibility, is a disgrace waiting to happen.
Eh?
DriveClub PS+ Edition release date to be announced at E3 2015!...lol But seriously what about the people who bought the game?? They should get something for this debacle.
@Bad-MuthaAdebis: What do you mean nothing they still got Dust, Splunkey and Pix the Cat for free. Dust alone is well worth it.
@Tasuki A lot of people got PS+ though just for DriveClub and still haven't got it (plus not every single person will view Dust as a worthy compromise). A months refund is the least they can do. Or tell the truth and admit they're just waiting for it to reach its sales target before the free edition comes. Refund it is then.
DriveClub isn't a game that really does much for me but I was intrigued to at least try the PS+ version. Now? Genuinely doubt I'll even download it.
The game is not broke its great and a finished game! its the servers that are stopping you form using all the features of the game. I can see some bugs being missed in testing but its been two weeks now. How did they miss something this big.
Greatness awaits.... more like Great letdowns. Knack. Killzone. Infamous. Now Drive Club. None of these exclusives were must have titles for any gamer. Weak sauce Sony. But your "Greatness Awaits" campaign was genius despite not having anything really great to offer. Oh wait. we have Sony TV coming. And PS Now to play old ps3 games. Great.
@rastamadeus < that whot e said
@Tasuki
@PMasterTy9 people that bought the physical game at launch should just be happy they were able to take part in the first ever physical disc beta, another first for sony
@JohnKarnes 2 weeks short of 12 months you mean?
Disappointing. Seriously conseidering jumping ship to XB One for Horizon 2 & Forza 5. I love racing games & have been looking forward to Driveclub for ages and have been dispaointed with the multitude of delays & issues.
@Bad-MuthaAdebis No I mean 2 weeks working on server issues they didn't see while the game was in development Nothing to do with the game before release date.
You guys will be covering news on other games at some point, right?
@gamerlove
I like inFamous: Second Son but yeah, the exclusives are nothing to write home about at all. The Killzone franchise has been a favorite of mine but even I can't disagree with people who call the new one Killzone Shadow Fail. Knack and DriveClub being mediocre isn't a surprise at all though, neither seemed great from the beginning. DriveClub had potential but while I've enjoyed some of the MotorStorm games none were truly awesome products. With as ambitious as this project seemed, I'm not surprised Evolution f'ed up in the end, especially since early hands-on previews of the game weren't exactly flowing with praise.
@Tasuki
You can't really defend Sony on this one. The whole 'PS Plus offers nothing' thing because people are not getting brand new, just released $60 games for free is as absolutely stupid and idiotic as it gets but with something like DriveClub the complaints are legit. Yes, games get delayed but like it or not this was heavily hyped to be a great day one deal with the PS4 launching last November only to be delayed at the last minute. Again, that's fine but the delay was 11 months and Sony promised, yes, promised, a Plus version with the full game day and date. For it to still not be there especially after the delay is a f**king joke but then again the Sony fanbase goes out if its way to defend anything the company does so it can get away with this kind of bullcrap.
Others have mentioned compensation. If I had joined PS Plus just for DriveClub, I don't know I'd really care for any. A month's extra of Plus or whatever, a different free game, none of that stuff would make up for what has happened here. Just don't let a screw up like this ever happen against and if it does make sure the communication is about 100 times better, that'd be the best compensation.
Just buy the damned game or not, Its great if you don't have a hard on for constant internet gaming.
