Smooth stuff

While it’s always been enjoyable on the PlayStation 3, there’s no doubt that the LittleBigPlanet franchise could have profited from a smoother framerate. Fortunately, senior producer Daimion Pinnock has confirmed in an interview with Gaming Bolt that developer Sumo Digital is aiming to get sequel LittleBigPlanet 3 running at 60 frames-per-second in 1080p on the PlayStation 4.

The important employee stopped short of sharing any additional information, but he did add that the impending follow-up will maintain the spirit of previous entries – even if creator Media Molecule isn’t at the helm. “LittleBigPlanet’s DNA is something that has been available since the PS3, and ultimately the team has looked to take it to the next level while still being faithful to what people know,” he said.

This time around, protagonist Sackboy will be accompanied by some brand new burlap buddies: Toggle, Swoop, and Oddsock. “[These characters] have added a whole new level of gameplay to the levels and to the story,” he concluded. Each hero will have unique abilities, really furthering the co-op dynamic which has been at the heart of the property since its inception over six years ago. We can't wait.
