For the most part, the PlayStation 3 and Vita experience is beautifully intertwined – but Trophies have remained an issue since launch. While you can view your PS3 trinkets on the handheld console, it’s impossible to do the reverse. Thankfully, that’s set to change later this week.
Sony’s announced that a new PS3 firmware update – version 4.30 for those of you keeping count – will allow you to keep tabs on your Vita Trophies from the home console. “Now you’ll be able to show off your Trophy grand total to all your friends,” beamed brand manager Leon Sanders in a PlayStation Blog post.
The platform holder will also be taking the opportunity to terminate services through the Life with PlayStation application. “This includes the conclusion of our participation with Stanford University’s Folding@home, a distributed computing project aimed at understanding protein folding, misfolding and studying the causes of a variety of diseases such as Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and cancers,” Sanders added.
Since the application’s launch in 2007, more than 15 million users have participated in the program. Players have donated more than 100 million computation hours to the project, and have contributed greatly to Stanford University’s Alzheimer’s disease research.
Firmware update 4.30 is set to arrive on 23rd October in Europe and North America. Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.

Oh sweet, I have been wanting to see this ever since the Vita launched!
Excellent that people on our friends list will now be able to see we have and play the Vita. Its too bad Life/W PS is going though. Im glad we were able to help wiht the research and i loved the theme music. Not to mention i got better world news from Life/W PS than i did from CNN. It will be missed.
Great!I was really hoping they would do something like this I thought it kinda sucked that I could see my ps3 trophies on my vita but not the other way around
The worst thing is those weird people who ONLY have a Vita, so you look at them on your PS3 and they have nothing BUT invisible Trophies. Definitely glad that's getting sorted. Didn't use Life With PlayStation, so its discontinuation means little to me.
