PlayStation Vita’s next firmware update will allow you to navigate the system’s home screen without getting finger-prints all over your device. Sony has announced that it is implementing traditional button controls to the device’s hub area on 28th August, alongside PSone Classics support.

Other improvements include the ability to rewind and fast-forward in the Video application, as well as import playlists from the PS3 and iTunes. The web browser will now allow you to zoom in using the rear touch panel, and there’ll be a new cross-controller option added to the Remote Play tool.

You can peruse the full list of tweaks over on the PlayStation Blog. Let us know what’s tickling your fancy in the comments section below.

Very welcome additions indeed! It was kind of annoying having to constantly swipe to navigate between menus. I didn't understand why you couldn't use the traditional controls as well but I'm glad that they are finally addressing this issue. Oh and of course the biggest and best part of this update is the ability to play PSone Classics! YES!!! :)

that's great news! I'm surprised because I tried to suggest this idea at ps.blog.share and they didn't accept my suggestion to be voted on. That website is absolutely useless. I hate touching the screen unnecessarily.

I like the idea of the group messaging layout enhancements...hopefully including an easier way to delete multiple messages at once.

The buttons on the home menu...honestly, I really could've used that at launch, but it's less of a big deal to me now 'cause I'm used to how it is. I'll have to see how it works, though...could still be handy on occasion.
