@Kidfried Dunno. Never tried Rabbids multiplayer as I have no one to play with nor do I own Golf Story.

I simply gave you a list of good games that also have multiplayer.

Plus it's well and good telling me you probably already own the old games, but how do I know if you do or dont yet? Assuming makes an ass out of you and me, so I am covering all my bases in case there is an older game you dont yet own.

Hey guys!

EA just announced Madden 19!

PS4/Xbox One.

Told you, their stuff aint coming this year. The deadline they gave for greenlighting is too close.

So after that certain exploit got reported on by just about every major bloody site it appears a string of cheating has occurred in Splatoon 2.

Namely users Dodge Rolling with weapons they shouldn't, and modifying fire speed of weapons to ludicrous degrees.

This is why I was strongly against any of that stuff. I dont care about the fun of seeing what you can do, it opened this door, they released that info, its on them.

Ugh, this just went and killed Splatoon 2 if unchecked.

@Kidfried The multiplayer in Mario + Rabbids is good, but limited. It's PRIMARILY a single-player game with some multi-player content on the side.

I am sorry but anyone who thinks big third party games will come to a Nintendo console is either naive or just stupid, and now before that gets takin out of context I am not saying Nintendo fans are stupid.

But let's look at the history.

N64 Besides Rare very little third party support. I mean this is where companies like Square jumped ship.

GameCube some modest third party support (I will say that their version of Soul Caliber II was the best)

Wii Third part support but it was mostly stripped down versions of PS3/360 games and to make matters worst had motion control gimmicks added or shovelware.

Wii U very little third part support after a year.

Yes I know Nintendo has promised 3rd party support for the Switch and I love Skyrim and a few other games but let's be honest it's become to the point that If you want Nintendo games you buy Nintendo products. If you want Madden, CoD, Battlefield, Final Fantasy, Overwatch, GTA, etc. etc you buy a PS or Xbox.

@Tasuki I never said I thought they were coming.

Hell I've been ridiculed for saying we wont get anything from EA this year. Why? They wouldn't greenlight anything until the earliest March 2018, if the system met their expectations. Which isn't enough time even for FIFA.

But people say "Switch got the World Cup update". Yeah, to an existing game. We aren't getting 19 you know.

@YummyHappyPills Yes, it hurts no one mentioning them anyway.

Anyway, I think Snipperclips might be my best bet for a multiplayer game. Thanks for anyone giving me suggestions.

@JohnnyShoulder I have Overcooked on PS4 already, but it's a great game, yes.

In other news, I kind of gave up on BotW for now, and started Odyssey. I really like it. Not the game of a generation, but for someone who wanted a next gen version of Mario Sunshine like me, it's perfect. That whole game is just fun and discovery. Also, great level themes as well (Zelda team, please take notes).

@KratosMD And all of them are inhabited by Bokoblins, Lizalfos, Keese and Chuchus

@KratosMD It's varied, but I never felt surprised. Some of the Mario worlds are very creative, and even Mario archetype worlds like the desert always have some kind of twist.

For me, BOTW lacks the surprising places that made games like Majora's Mask and Skyward Sword (not at all my fav Zelda) and others special.

Anyway, I'm happy that Odyssey does live up to the hype for me personally. Instant classic.

Kidfried

@KratosMD You'll love it then, no doubt it's your cup of tea. Don't expect something revolutionary, but it is certainly a great evolution of the franchise and it has been crafted to perfection.

Odyssey is a great game. My only complaint is that the countless moons don't seem to be worth collecting. A star or shine sprite in 64 and Sunshine felt quite special. There are just too many moons in Odyssey, and you find them all over the place (almost as common as red or blue coins from the previous games).

The level design is pretty good though. The desert level is a tad too big for my tastes, but it's alright.

I also wish there were more unique boss fights like in Sunshine, I'm not a big fan of the Koopaling-clone rabbits.

Octane

Haruki_NLI

@Octane More unique bosses?

7 Shadow Mario fights
3 Gooper Blooper fights
2 Petey Piranha fights
2 Monty Mole Cannons
Phantamanta
King Boo
Mecha Bowser

Meanwhile Odyssey has

3 Topper
3 Harriet
3 Rango
3 Spewart
2 Madame Brood
2 Bowser
Sand Kingdom
Mecha wiggler
2 Mecha Brood
That UFO thing
Cookatiel
Lord of Lightning
That squid thing

Its kinda sad actually that Sunshine reused so much now I look back.

And a warning to anyone plating odyssey. The game has more moons than all the starts in 64/Sunshine and both Galaxies combined.

Big game is big but feels small

Korok seeds weren't really designed to be 100% collected. They're there to add a constant sense of engagement with the world around you as you're exploring. There's something to find pretty much everywhere you go, be it a memory, a chest, a korok seed, etc. They're only an issue for people with the neurotic need to "do everything" in a game. I believe Nintendo made its feelings on tracking down all of those seeds clear with the "reward" you get for collecting them all.

And the issue with there being so many moons disappears if you think of Odyssey less as a traditional 3D Mario game and more as a modern take on the classic collectathon platformer ala Banjo-Kazooie or Donkey Kong 64.

BotW blew me away from beginning to end. I understand the criticisms some people have of it, but none of them impact my feelings of the game at all.

SMO... I was initially disappointed when I first completed the story, but I gradually grew to enjoy it more as I continued through the post-game and collected some of the more challenging moons. It's a great game, but I don't know that I would put it over Galaxy or Sunshine (although it definitely ranks above 64 and Galaxy 2, as far as I am concerned).

The only big Nintendo exclusives I've been thoroughly disappointed with in the last several years are Smash Wii U and Bayonetta 2 (I'm, of course, excluding the terrible smaller exclusives like Amiibo Festival and Color Splash that came out on the tail end of the Wii U's life).

@Ralizah We have opposite opinions on almost all of these.

  • Never been disappointed as often as with Nintendo.
  • Galaxy 2 > Galaxy 1 in my opinion.
  • Bloodborne was one of the PS4s biggest and memorable surprises for me.
  • Everybody probably knows how I feel about BotW, and I think the Korok seeds arent implemented in a great way.

My issue with the Korok seeds isn't that there's too many, it's the fact that they're always the same thing. God of War has tons and tons of collectables too, but it's something different a lot of the time. You never know whether it'll be hacksilver, an enchantment, or any other random type of item. With Korok seeds, you always know what you're getting, and for me, collecting them got boring fast.

As for Odyssey, I don't like the collectathon nature, either. In games like Sunshine and 64, every star or shine felt special and important, and the tasks you needed to complete were usually very engaging and felt like quests. In Odyssey, you barely even care when you find most moons because they're literally all over the place. I liked basically everything else about the game a lot, though. The levels were all very unique and well-designed. The music could have been better, though. It was all really good music, don't get me wrong, but I barely even remember it outside of the Cascade Kingdom theme, the Metro Kingdom theme, the Seaside Kingdom theme, and the Jump Up Superstar song.

They're both very quality games, I just don't think they're the Holy Grail of video games like most people do. God of War was more memorable and enjoyable than those games ever were IMO.

Still, I do feel the urge to play Breath of the Wild again lately. It is very good, despite my problems with it, and the atmosphere is very relaxing and beautiful.

I think the future wont be kind to BOTW or Odyssey.

You know how some games kinda become better respected in the future? Not with these two.

@Kidfried We do!

Not to mention you liked Journey, which I... I don't know, "hated" is a strong word, but I didn't enjoy it. It was better than the clone game Abzu, at least, but I wouldn't wish that one on my worst enemy.

I believe you preferred Rayman Legends over Origins too, right? So your preference for Galaxy 2 makes sense. Although I'd like to add that the spaceship shaped like Mario's face was really, really weird, and, aside from Odyssey, Yoshi has never added to a Mario game for me. He's always so awkward to control. There's WAY too much Yoshi in Galaxy 2. And, you know, it's missing the other stuff I liked from Galaxy: story, atmosphere, etc.

You really loved the ghost houses in SMW, and you probably remember my opinion on those.

And yeah, everybody else seems gaga over Bloodborne, but, for me, it was a waste of $60. I got pretty far in before I decided there was no point in playing a game I just wasn't enjoying at all.

Well, whatever. The world would be a boring place if everyone had the same opinions and liked the same stuff, yeah?

@YummyHappyPills Smash Wii U and Bayonetta 2?

Well, Bayonetta 2's writing was terrible, it had poor pacing (the name of the special edition "endless climax" was apt: the game feels like it's constantly trying to outdo itself, and it's frankly exhausting. There's very little build up to anything), boring levels where you just run around and fight groups of enemies over and over, awkward platforming, uninteresting characters, gimmick levels (not as bad as the first game with its horrible, endless motorcycle sequence, at least), and a huge emphasis on scoring EVERYTHING, which I personally hated.

As to Smash Wii U? It just had an awful selection of modes. Especially that board game one. In every way except for the performance of the game itself, it was inferior to the cheaper 3DS version.

Also, weirdly enough, the online in the 3DS version was a lot more stable for me than it was in the Wii U version. Not really sure why, as I primarily played them in the same general location in the house.

@KratosMD I even got the Wii U version with the adapter and special GC controller, but after a few rounds, I just switched to the Pro controller. I really liked that controller for certain games, but Smash 4 wasn't one of them.

Then again, I only ever played Melee once or twice.

Speaking of, why did proto-amiibos show up in Melee's opening, but Smash 4 got a boring clip show opening?

@KratosMD I've... really started coming around to the Wiimote + Nunchuk setup. I hated it that gen, of course, but I think playing with detached joycons has increased my openness to unusual controller set-ups. I played through all of DKC: Tropical Freeze recently with Wiimote + Nunchuk, and I really liked it.

The classic controller is awful. One of the worst things I've ever used. I only keep it around because my mother prefers it to sideways Wiimote when we're playing Toejam and Earl on the VC together.

I probably just need to use the GC controller with Smash more. Like I said, I didn't get a lot of practice in, considering I usually just went for the more convenient and fun 3DS version of the game. If the new Smash supports that Wii U adapter, I might put some time in to learning how to properly play on one of those GameCube pads.
